Watch all her past videos and you will see she’s one of the original youtubers that revolutionized awareness of learning about good nutrition and reading labels. I believe everyone teaching about good nutrition on CZcams today, is a direct result of her influence and insight shared on youtube, whether the followers know it or not. Good & Gather and Market Pantry are just brand names. For example with the lunch meat I would not be surprised if both brands are in fact from the same manufacturer and recipes and target just arbitrarily labels them according to what their supply records indicate. Target doesn’t manufacture any of this but they buy it from suppliers. In fact don’t be surprised if a Good & Gather product is the same exact item that you would buy under a different label at Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s or whomever.

      @G.S.Holland Před 4 lety +1

      Well, to be fair, they didn't just come up with this brand "overnight." This took a long time of planning, development, etc before it rolled out to all their corporate stores.
      So, yeah, Target COULD do the right thing with a new brand if they really wanted to. But they just want to put the cheapest amount of product in a package they can get away with selling for a fair profit margin without being more expensive than their Market Pantry brand.
      Good and Gather could have been a revolutionary brand for a store this size, but I doubt it would have been at the price point that would have attracted a lot of buyers.

    Thank you so much for doing this. Marketing strategies used by these companies are almost embarrassing and most certainly should offend people. To constantly mislead others by using fancy, healthy words to refer to “food” and a natural looking packaging should make anyone wonder and reconsider purchase. The companies take advantage of the fact that many people are simply not educated enough in terms of what is put into this processed stuff. Don’t know why much of it is still referred to as “food” when by definition “food” means nourishment for the body. We can not just complain though about these companies attempts in trying to profit off of our lack in knowledge, we have to show them with our pocketbook. The content of these containers are not good for us humans and the containers are not good for nature.

    The simply balanced brand at target is supposed to be replaced by Good and gather. I hope the Applegate brand stays since it’s so good. When you’re buying private label brands and having them re-packaged under your brand, you don’t have the clout to demand that things are made without natural flavorings I guess. Thanks for all you do to make this information available to us so we can eat healthier. Many blessings to you all.

    I use to work at target and they were suppose to fully expand organic brand by 2020 to compete with Whole Foods and other stores but it looks like they fell flat on their face. It’s really disappointing.

    The new brand is really just marketing to replace their Market Pantry, Simply Balanced, and Archer Farms brands that had become stale.

    If you have an episode on chips/crackers and dips, please share the link. If not, it would be a great episode because often the flavoring isn't as healthy as the actual product itself (example popcorn vs. white cheddar popcorn). Getting good ideas of which snack crackers and chips to buy and dips would be good for game day!

    “Free range” means that the birds are allowed to eat OUTSIDE in a pasture! Maybe the wording is different from state to state. There are lots of items that can say that they are “organic” but have crappy ingredients in them. Look for the mark on the label that says that they are usda approved organic. That means that the company that is producing the “organic” item has been closely monitored and is completely organic. The laws for labeling should be consistently the same but apparently they are not!

    I noticed Bobby put his seal on the Horizon organic grass fed milk. Horizon has been the subject of investigative articles by the Washington Post and others. To supply Target, Walmart, Costco and stores nationwide, these are huge factory farms. There is a lot of “fudging” that occurs with the organic labeling by large corporations. Cows are not living an idyllic life munching on grass with free will to graze as they wish. Be sure you get value for the premium price charged for organic milk and investigate the source of your organic dairy.
