If there is salmonella on the avocado, washing it will not make it safe. My sister has OCD and she thoroughly washed some tomatoes that she got from a lady at her church. She and my Mother ate the tomatoes and got Salmonella. It was horrible. It almost killed my elderly Mother. So, washing does not kill salmonella. It will be in the whole fruit.
