      @Koolkid Ehm... Somalis don't look like ancient Egyptians, just no. Ancient Egyptians were a tad darker than Syrians and Palestinians, perhaps because of their climate, but they were nowhere near as dark as modern Somalis are. For example, Kushites/Old Nubians, people from modern day South Sudan and Northern Ethiopia, are depicted as dark brown skinned, very different to their Egyptian cointerparts

      Which is why the Egyptians stated that the people from the Land of Punt were distinctively unique looking and different looking to them ... You did actually watch the video right? It says it in the video that you’re commenting on..you could’ve done some research as well. And if you’re confused as to why the Egyptians would then suggest that it’s their ancestral homeland, it’s because it is! East Africa is the location of the first human beings in the entire world, East Africans are the ancestral homeland of All people, not just the Egyptians. Your post makes 0 sense and is lazy, do research or at least watch the video.

    The Land of Punt is most likely in present day Somalia/Ethiopia , but more likely Somalia due to the length of travel of their journeys. When you look at the physical descriptions given by the Egyptians and the items that the Egyptians required from the land of Punt such as Myrhh, and the fact that Myrhh only originated in Arabia or Yemen/Somalia, with the Somali Myrhh being the most unique and desired one, all clues point to one direction. It can’t be an Arab country due to the physical descriptions given.

      Skunk Ape ,
      The Middle East was lush and green.. and what was/is Somalia? Somalia was and is more lush and green than all of the Middle East, the South of Somalia is nothing but green...the spices and exotic animals described by Ancient Egyptians were not found in the Middle East. You state that there’s no concrete evidence that it’s located in Somalia, which I agree with, if you read my post i literally say ‘ most likely ‘, but what I then find odd and strange , is you have made an argument for it to be in the Middle East ( even though you yourself admit there is no hypothesis proving any location) , and you’ve based your argument on the Middle East being lush and green at that time, as if Somalia was and still isn’t green and lush, even more than the Middle East... can you see how many inaccuracies are in your post? I think you’re confused

    • @Iamcruddy1
      @Iamcruddy1 Pƙed 3 lety +14

      Skunk Ape ,
      Then why would you randomly mention the geography of the Middle East? And describe features of the Middle East that isn’t unique to the Middle East as a way of providing a theory that the location could possible also be in the Middle East ? Doesn’t make sense. I shared your views, but I’m no longer of that opinion, I’ve done more research and the documents and archives held by the Ancient Egyptians is too thorough to discredit. It’s more likely that the supposed locations simply haven’t been actively excavated. The Middle East region has a huge history, but it has many sites which aren’t being excavated for one reason or another, likewise with Somalia, Somalia only recently started excavations and have found many unique artifacts of early advanced civilisations. I think the answer is out there, we simply haven’t searched yet.

    • @Iamcruddy1
      @Iamcruddy1 Pƙed 3 lety +6

      Skunk Ape ,
      Are you not used to being questioned? You’ve just said in your latest post ‘Somalia’s MODERN features don’t make it a unique fit ‘... but when you mentioned the Middle East, your reasons were NOT due to their MODERN landscape and features, it was due to their ANCIENT landscape and features, to quote you directly ‘ the Middle East was lush and green during that time, and not a desert’ . At least we agree on one thing, I also think you’re confused, that shrugging shoulder emoji encapsulates you perfectly.

Also many of the things they brought back from Punt were only found in Africa, like the Secretary bird, which is found only in Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, and Somalia, but not found in Arabia. Land of Punt is no doubt in modern Somalia but also included Somali relatives of Rendille, Borana, afar, and Gabbra and others. Punt, Punite, Pwenet, and Pone all of them are same and the meaning is a Horn or the one who lives the horn. In Somalia there is a city called Opone that has relationship with the word Punt or Punite and it means Horn or the origin because the word Father came from the same root. The letter "O" in the word Opone is the same "O" in Osiris that means the orgin in Somali language. Egyptian Hieroglyph used in Somalia before Egypt, and it supposed to be a Punite Hieroglyph that Bedouin Somalis still use to mark their animals. Somali language is also shares 60% with ancient Egypt language. They share religion, DNA, cultural clothes, way of dancing, crafts and tools and same Gods such as Ra, Nedir, Horus and Osiris. which country in the world that can share with them all of these? which country that still uses Hieroglyph other than Somalia?

If you have a link or resources that help support your claim, I will read it for sure. But everything ive read on it, and knowing how most people in that field work, they temd not to say that it is *for sure.* They say they believe it is, or that evidence strongly supports the theory it is. But there is no absolute, 100%, undeniable proof that it is certain.
      Adding that it is "literally" doesn't make me think it is any mlre, either. I mean I wasn't ever thinking that it was *figuratively* Somalia. So if it was Somalia, it would go without saying that it was in the literal sense.

    It's kind of surprising how many people are saying that Punt is Northern Somalia, or that tons of experts agree that it was in Northern Somalia, like it wasn't mentioned in the video already, or that Puntland was named that, specifically, because it was believed to be the location of the original Punt.
    I believe the point of the video is that its strange that Punt is not mentioned in any other historical texts and that even the Egyptians had never said where it was. At least, not in any records we have found yet.

    If ancient Egyptians ancestral homeland was in punt and they spoke so highly about it, then it would be understandable why they didn't invade it and would revere it, almost every empire thought itself to be the greatest, the fact that ancient Egyptians thought so high of punt, might not mean they werent proud but that placing such a place that was inconsequential in comparison to their own society on such a pedastal could be a form of supremacy since that's where they originated from.

    I wonder if we should be leaving records of our civilization - maybe cut into granite/basalt or some other tough stone - and in many different languages. We can see how frustrating it is to find ancient records and not have the whole story - we could prevent that with future archaeologists studying us. It's like, we have everything recorded but it's all on flimsy media - electronic and paper - paper just disintegrates in the weather and with electronic records, if the device they're on is destroyed, they're gone - plus, even if we could protect electronic storage so it could survive for thousands or millions of years, the future people who found it would probably have different, incompatible technology.. Which, that's another cool thought - it would be awesome to find some kind of ancient/alien/ancient alien electronic storage device and actually be able to read and understand it... That was sort of off-topic...
