    We're DVC members and stay in deluxe villas nearly every month. We also have a motor home and stay at the Fort 4 or 5 times a year. If you look around, there are guests here who stay in multi-million $ Prevost motor homes, and some stay in tents but we're all the same in this community of Fort Wilderness lovers! (And we love the new cabins!)

    Great video guys. The new cabins look fantastic. I wish DVC made a few of them with a king size bed and no bunk beds in the bedroom.

    The wooden box that you pulled out to hide the P-trap under the sink is a removable shroud so if there is some maintenance needed under the sink they can easily access it.

    So based on what I am seeing - Fort Wilderness reminds me of many state parks I have been to. Its nice. But definitely has the state park vibe. Not worth the price that #Disney wants to charge for a stay there. I mean - bring your own towel to the pool? Prepackaged sandwiches on par with airport food? I can't find prices right now but I thought they had it about $600/night

    Smoky Bear was all over the TV in the 1970’s. It was a campaign to prevent forest fires - primarily among campers. I don’t know of the Disney connection but Fort Wilderness is a Campground that has been around since the 1970’s.

      I guess it seems fitting that they are including Smokey as it was a big campaign to help with preventing forest fires at camp grounds. “Only You can prevent forest fires!”

    Back in 2008, we stayed at OKW and they still had the peddleboat rentals. We went from the OKW dock, up the river to Port Orleans. You know how low those sat in the water when you have 2 adult men facing forward 180lb each and a small woman and child facing back? I saw an alligator. Couldn't get back fast enough!! 😮

Very nice of Thomas and Daniel for letting you see their cabin. The cabins are gorgeous! I like the old rustic cabins, but it was definitely time to update them. Great job Disney!❤

      lol I have definitely heard of Smokey the Bear so you’re not THAT old. It was more confusion over him as a Disney merch character. I’m sure I’m missing something. Oh and Metamucil can be very useful when needed lol.

    I used to love staying at Fort Winderness. The Original "Cabins" were actually airstream trailers, which were Replaced by the "old" cabins which are now being replaced, in the 80's
    I Used to do various rowing activities, including Canoeing, Dragon boats and 4's and 8's.
    You might want to see if your Dragon Boat crew would want to compete in the event in Vancouver, which is a lot of fun

    The pool used to have the best loaded bbq chips like the ones at the Poly. They took those away when they redid everything about a year ago. Also, We have seen gators in that water and they do close that beach area for kayaking and you will see cages in the water at times when they are trying to catch them. But Crockets is the best place to eat in the evenings there. The fried green tomatoes, small sandwiches, and the alcohol flight is fantastic. And they have the BEST fries. We had Xmas dinner there very late after a long drive.

    Back in 1989 and 1993, we stayed in the original FW cabins (which cracks me up when people complain about getting rid of history because the cabins being replaced aren't even original) and we never once went to the pools, because we would just go to River Country. Hah.

    We are Gen Xers and we actually like the new concept of the new cabins. We have rented and stayed in the older cabins in the past, and it is difficult to have an adult sleep on the sleeper sofa. The new Murphy beds appear a lot more comfortable for an adult to sleep in them. We still love the older cabins for their charm but they did need USB and USB-C outlets for all of the things that a family would need to charge during their stay. We are considering purchasing DVC at the Fort, but we are hesitant to do so because of the high dues.

    Awesome video!! 😊 couple of questions-
    1.) Which loops were complete with the new cabins?
    2.) Are the two cabins in the 100 loop still there?

      Loop 2500 was the only one completed and the two model cabins in loop 100 are still there and will likely be model cabins for a while.

    Is having a golf cart a necessity when staying at Fort Wilderness?

    • @perezperez2114
      @perezperez2114 Před 19 dny +1

      You don't have to rent a golf cart, you can walk, bike or use the public transportation (buses that run periodically throughout the entire Fort). We personally do not like to wait for the buses to come by. We prefer renting a golf cart during our entire stay it is definitely a better experience if you have a golf cart, especially when you are returning from a long day at the parks, you simply get in your parked golf cart and go to your cabin or campsite.

    • @dklauf
      @dklauf Před 19 dny +2

      Yes. Most campsites and cabins are not close to boat or bus transportation. Car parking is limited to your site or overflow parking by the entrance to the resort. Bicycles can be done too.

    • @sandym4875
      @sandym4875 Před 19 dny +2

      We've camped there multiple times and never had a golf cart. The busses came by often. Very easy to walk to a bus stop. If you have small children/stroller I would recommend the golf cart.

    • @torineace8715
      @torineace8715 Před 19 dny +1

      For the full feel of the Fort especially during Halloween, Xmas, and halfway to Halloween you need a cart. Things are not close to the cabins. There is a pool but it’s always been the quiet pool. If you have kids you want to be at the Meadows pool. There are also playgrounds all over the Fort. It’s a long walk to get to the boats and food if you don’t take the bus or have a cart.

    • @spectroman71

      @@perezperez2114 If you drive, do you have to leave your car somewhere far from the actual cabins?

    For how much the cabins cost the pools are SO below Disney standards. We had the same kind of awful pool at the treehouses when we stayed.

    • @amber4849

      The main pool is fine. The pool they show first is just like a quiet pool like they would also have at other DVC resorts. Not the main feature pool.
