- Nick Bare is the founder of Bare Performance Nutrition, an endurance racer, CZcamsr and a podcaster.
Being consistently good will beat being occasionally great. But consistency is hard to find when life throws setbacks, business failures, injuries and babies at you. However, Nick has found a way to balance everything and today we get to discover how.
Expect to learn why doubters shouldn't affect your performance, why Go One More is a useful rule for everything in life, how Nick avoids burnout when juggling lots of projects, where the drive to get up at 5am every day comes from, how gut instinct can beat brain-power and much more...

😊😊
Key Takeaways for Me:
1. Consistency can beat talent, its the competitive edge
2. Hire people for character, skills can be taught. Hire slow, fire fast.
3. Trust yourself and your gut. You will mistakes, but you’ll also learn from your own mistakes.
4. Start slow, start now, and build up skills over time.
Thanks
Been watching Nick since he was stationed in Korea, one of the greats on this platform.
What is this, a crossover episode!? Thank you both!!!
"Some people have never had a deep conservation in their life" -- so true. I wish I knew how to make everyone go for depth.
I think its more about being around the right people especially older people, social media has taken away the need for people to sit down and have deep conversations.
Take a few months and listen to people all the time. Rate each person's conversation on stupidity level from 1-10, 1 being most stupid. Then keep all the 9s and 10s in your life. Walk away from the rest of them.
That would defeat the concept of originality within connections though my bro, also not everyone is on the same wavelength as you are.
Only meant to listen to a few moments of this and ended up staying for the whole thing.
"What is the price you pay for being you?" is a great question.
Brilliant discussion. Thank you, kudos and respect for the layers of great thoughts from both of you.
Great Pod as always and intro to Nick! This one really resonated. On my own quest and cant wait to play at the same level as you guys💭
Thanks for inspiring me and your community to keep pushing. See you on the pod in a couple of years.
When you make your routine fun yet challenging. You look forward to it everyday. Falling in love with the process is everything 💜
This is a seriously glorious pod. Love the open conversation. Thanks Chris and Nick!!
This conversation is a diamond amongst a lot of videos.
Thank you for sharing guys 🙏
Man, that was some great stuff. Just a pleasure to listen to.
Coming back to this now that Nick has achieved his 2:39 Marathon. Congrats!
Almost at 400k, let's go!
Keep it up Chris, your show is awesome!
thank you for this episode, it was very interesting and sweet to hear you talk about your daughter and how you prepare for the changes you anticipate for the growth of your familiy!
Nobody cares, work harder 💪 Keep Hammering 🔨 Love it Nick!

Incredable podcast so inspiring and a brilliant speaker
Last time I came this early I got laughed at
Nick is inspiring man❤
Great episode. Consistently good > Occasionally Great. Love that. Tons of good advice and lens’ to look at life through
Was not expecting this! HWG
Nick Bare! Wasn't expecting this one. :D Love Nicks work ethic and mindset. Couldn't agree more Chris on the whole Love Island trend of what success is in the eyes of new generations.
My question Chris is do you still watch it these days? I've found myself not watching what I call junk TV like that anymore.
The very worst form of "entertainment" I refuse to infuse my brain with this crap
ohh my god youre from mike thurston podcast right his one of my idol
nick bare and mike thurston i want them meet each other .and podcast
"People should be weary when requesting a talk with God, for it will make you love the things you hate, hate the things you love, understand the things you couldn't, and become aware of everything unknown. All within an instant. Conclusion, cognitive implosion. The absolute annihilation of any cohesive perception."
-Austin Sly
Was listening to this in the car on a roadtrip and I thought I heard a part about his daily rituals with his wife around communication and being present, like taking time to sit and stare into each others' eyes, etc. I have re-skimmed and can't find it? Was that in this episode?
CW 🔥💯🔥
How do you stay motivated to continue the direction that you want fitness wise when you are dealing with an injury that will take several months to heal? Asking for a friend.
Nick says very simple things as if they’re Novel haha “when you doubt yourself, that’s when you lose” no shit lmao when you do the work, the work gets done.. NO SHIT!!!
yeah but a lot of these things aren't always easy to follow 100% , its good to state these things just to solidify what you believe, even people like nick still doubt themselves so its just a reminder to themselves eseentially. Simple shit can actually be some of the most meaningful and complex too tbh.
@@Dylonysus at some point it gets old man lol
Am I the only one who doesn’t believe that “all my mentors and professors doubted me”?
I rarely come across a person who genuinely doubts another’s capabilities. Esp a driven & dedicated person. And for a professor to do that seems so unlikely.
🙌🏻
Nick sounds like a well spoken Cody Garbrandt
Thanks!
Wow great job 👏👏
Just because priority’s change doesn’t mean suck at it . I wouldn’t use that term .
5:24 he has said several times he had a chip on his shoulder but here he says no lol
The long and difficult road to building a sucsessful brand > 5 min fame for nothing.
no freedom and lots of money doesn't sound very enticing to me at all. I'd much rather be mediocre but free and enjoy the simple pleasures of life with my female and friends. More power to you guys and what you do, but personally, I found no wisdom in this take.
"WE are pregnant"
Yeah? How's that then pal?
Consistently juiced. Occasionally blood doped.
Comment
Who thinks nick is natty?
The picture he looks well juicy
Around 11:00 when he talks about his mind is preparing for parenthood is so painfully obvious he doesn't have kids.
The shit he says about if he should let his kids fail or not is absurd. Your kids WILL fail. It's not something you get to choose. You do your best to set them up for success, but his mindset is a recipe for trying to make a trophy kid.
Raising a human is not the same as prepping for a marathon.
Dude tell your story. Its great. But it is yours. The way you overcome one challenge is exactly wrong for another. I laughed out loud at your "plans" on child rearing. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣, tell me in 18 years how wrong you were. Especially a logic driven man raising a daughter. A little advice after his accomplishments for his personality is great. Motivating like minded 20 somethings. Just keep it to your story. At 60 start giving life advice.
👍😂
stopped listening at "we're pregnant"
No WE ever got pregnant.....SHE got pregnant...
It's very much a WE...is it Mostly She, sure it is...but it's definitely a team thing and needs to be a team thing and something you do and experience together, etc, etc....of course She is pregnant and that's what make women amazing beings...but to do it all right and to have a great experience of life together, it's very much a We.
@@PreppinShootinLivin nope that's just pc nonsense
@@AncientYouth64that’s a mindset that contributes to the fall of societies… selfishness even within the family structure
@forfucksakeful people have said WE forever lol way bclefore PC shit. It often takes work and time to get pregnant and it's a team effort. She carries the child and is the one pregnant for sure, but a healthy and happy pregnancy takes two.
@@ArtofStability you could have had a kid in the time it took you to respond to that comment 😂
