"Sweet Dreams" is a scary horror short film from CACox97 (Christopher Cox), the creator of "Don't Look Away." A boy is haunted by a spooky figure stalking him in the dark. This ghost story is inspired by childhood nightmares, aimed to build a creepy atmosphere with one or two jumpscares mixed in there.
For the best viewing experience, watch in a dark, quiet location

I loved it 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I loved that one bro!
love that man
I’m just glad the monster followed the rules of you can’t kill someone when they are under a blanket tbh lol
Me too 😂😂😂
Them's the rules 🤷♂️
Yup lol
That monster was just trying to get scream energy for monsters inc 🤣
🧍🏼♀️the rules are the rules 🤷🏼♀️
As a person that has parasomnia, this is pretty much was i experience every single night, constant nightmares. I think this short film really just capture the whole fear of that, pretty well made too I would say.
Thank you so much!
I feel bad for what you have to pass threw
u can stop that if u dont do drugs, stay up late and so on.
late reply but what type of parasomnia? is it nightmare disorder, hallucinations, or something else?
"Best viewed in a dark environment with headphones"
*Probably gonna regret this but life is short*
YUP I JUST EXPERIENCED THAT FIRST HAND……. Jesus Christ lol
bruh true
I did the exact same thing
Omg its unwatchable 😭
I'm glad I did it in the break for studying, which means lights on.
everyone knows that fear. It's a deep primal fear of something in the dark attack you while you try to sleep. When you're defenses are at their lowest. When I was younger my room was next to the garage. And one night the door was not closed all the way and it happened to come loose while I was trying to sleep. It opened super slowly literally made that scary slow creaking noise as it opened. and the near by fan made a paper continually go up and down which sounded like soft foot steps. I was so incredibly horrified. This Short Film reminded me of that. Excellent Job.
Thats a good take but I have another possible answer to the story.
The scene with the kid as well as the photo of a kid and woman seems to suggest perhaps his family died due to a breakin.
Whether he was the father of the kid or was the kid, the woman died and he is haunted with her memories so thats why it isn't real.
@@resentfuldragon ooooo that’s a good theory
The man made it so much better, his acting is really good. You could tell he was truly terrified, but knew the blanket would help.
Maybe this was unintentional, but I like that as a child, it was a vague shape. He knew it was dangerous, but couldn't make out the details.
As an adult, his brain filled in the gaps and made it more horrifying to match all that he has learned.
This was a masterpiece. I really like that you focused on the blanket as a security device and even made it the focal point in a couple of scenes. I don't think I would ever challenge the validity of a ghost, pretty sure they don't like that. Also must admit that this had some of the best sensory experiences I have felt for awhile. Many Shorts try to be this but fall short, I will definitely be subbing and hitting the bell notification. Thank you for the terrifying dreams, Imma go to bed now... no worries at all.
Thank you so much! If you have scary dreams: I’m sorry and you’re welcome 😉
This man did it when he made don’t look away, and he just did it again!!!!
Dude that was awesome really gave me the creeps. Great use of the weird sensory shit that happens in “tense” moments of fear (noticing your breathing volume, ringing of ears etc) keep on killing it man!
Really enjoyed this scary short, people usually think that the bedroom is one of the safest places, but in horror films it can be one of the scariest places, lying in bed in the dark when we’re most vulnerable, hearing noises and thinking “ is there something under the bed or in the closet….”
Totally what I deal with all the time haha. Being an obsessed horror fan as a kid didn't help 🤐
The uncomfortably long amount of time waiting for that jumpscare is what did it for me.
Amazing. I think this is a type of fear most can relate to, thinking there is something in the dark and hiding under the 'invincible' covers. I used to have the same type of nightmares and this really struck that chills cord. Very good, 10 out of 10 would recommend! Can't wait for more!
I love the little car on his side table (reference to a horror movie called Christine)
This was absolutely brilliant and you deserve way more credit for your work…I love how you even put emphasis on ringing of the ears from when it’s completely silent and dark in a room (which is why I sleep with a fan on to this day). The progressive heartbeat was a nice touch as well. Even the figure you portray in the corner is not only terrifying but relatable because we’ve all seen that same exact figure that always ends up being a coat rack, lamp, or some other type of furniture, but our minds see this. Literally gave me cold chills. Nobody wants to see a man in a mask anymore, it’s so played out. You displayed real, true fear in this and I hope to see you continue and thrive in this remarkable talent you have. Keep up the great work man
"For the best experience, view in a dark environment"
Time is 8:06 PM and I basically have no lights in my room so... I'm ready.
Nailed it.
Your efforts in this film must be appreciated, it actually scared me when the ghost (or something) rushed on the guy, almost got heart attack.
Loved it , and hope for more content like this.
Keep it up.👌👌
Thank you so much! I'm very proud of this film. Despite it being very simple in story and character, I loved exploring the way sound and lighting builds about fear and I took the lessons I learned into "We're Not Safe Here" which payed off. All horror shorts I do from now on will be inspired by the tone of this one :)
This is amazing! I have nightmares, night terrors and occasionally sleep paralysis, and this feels like a combination of those.
I loved that transition when he woke up, and it changed into the guy as an adult. It shows that the nightmares don't always go away, contrary to what some parents claim. "The nightmares will stop when you get older" is apparently a thing people try to say!
Truly incredible how well you portrayed the right fear in this situation. So well done!
This and Don't Look Awat are better than most of the actual full fledged horror movies ive seen recently
What makes it scary is the anticipation. I'm not laying there for several minutes listening to noises I don't think I should be hearing. I'm up and figuring it out. It's either nothing dangerous, and I take my ass back to sleep; or its something, and either me, it, or both of us are dying.

Another upload from one of my favorite channels, beautiful!
This was awesome brother, loved the tall woman-- her shifting was really unsettling and you know how to stretch out suspense. Got my subscribe✌️
Thanks bro! Our two recent shorts are at the top of “horror short film” searches right now haha let’s hope we get more recognition! Indie filmmakers keepin it real 👊
@@ChristopherCoxFilm hell yeah👏
@@ChristopherCoxFilm he's in your family?
That last part was BRILLIANT! I LOVE IT! Congratulations! 👏👏👏
This was the most unsettling video I’ve ever seen now I ain’t gonna fall asleep
I think it is a great job because you get the feel "ok, what would I do in that situation" and next thing that comes to your mind is like "ok, it would be too harsh for me"
The strange muffled static sounded just the way nightmares sound.
the audio alone is amazing everything about this is perfect
“For the best experience, view in a dark environment with headphones”
Me: watches in morning and listens without headphones
But for real though, this was a good short film Chris! Glad you are back by the way👍
Edit: still yet to have my comment liked but I am patient..🥲
I just did still scared the shit out of me
Scared the shit out of me too! And it gave me CHILLS. O_O
Gave me chills, youre doing well, glad to see you making content still after so many years!
Came back 4 years later to rewatch your cool film "dont look away" glad to know youre still alive
Bro that, scared everything thing that helps me sleep at night, out of me.
I dont thinks im gonna sleep tonight.
This looks like a video I saw when I was 10 and I couldn't sleep for days
Holy crap that was terrifying. As a person with a 6ft loft bed, I'd be eye to eye with that thing. Good one.
Someone get Corey To do a spooky scary Sunday on this
That would be awesome!
i first saw this account with the nerf zombies when i was nine, it has taken me 10 years to find it again and i am glad to see more content from this account.
I watched this in a well lit room with no headphones....what did I miss 👍🏼
It's so realistic because this is everything someone would do if this was happening.
I'm genuinely scared- and I usually never get scared in short films. Thank you for this! I won't sleep tonight 😂🙏
This was awesome, the visuals and audio were unbelievable! The ending really game me some bad chills, great job!
Had me clutching my chest. I saw the dark room and headphones part i said nope 💡 on
"View it in a dark environment." Nope, I'm alone in my room at 12 am and I'm not going to off the light while I watch this.
Always enjoyed all of the horror shorts you make. They’re all 👌
Well blanket saves him. 😀😀. Nice work👍👍
Good one. Also, I love the little Christine!
Bruhhhhh. I used to watch your vids a LOOONGGG time ago, back when you made nerf wars and sang peanut butter jelly time. Dear God, this channel has matured.
This is elite!
I love this man been watching ever since you made 10 Things You Should Never Do In A Nerf War and now he’s making these phenomenal films/series keep up the good work!
It's interesting. When I have sleep paralysis, I actually do take comfort in "knowing it's not real". But in lucid dreams, I'm terrified even though I know it's a dream.
Man i remember this man as a little child now my man i full adult damn
What a great horror short film! Amazing job Chris!
Gave me haunting of Hill House vibes, loved it!
Best one by far. You completely played to your strengths here. Your other movies were severely lacking in writing and dialog but you're amazing at editing, sound design and shot placement all of which here are done to a professional level.
Thank you! My next horror short is big on writing and dialogue so I’m really stepping it up on that
My dreams are mostly musical! And mysterious too. It has strange men shooting pin needles, I even dreamed about the trash can I was getting rid of, riderless police bikes, guys that looked like they came from the sons of anarchy. Those might make great inspiration to film sources
This guy will not stop impressing me with these movies how does he do it
Hey, we both AGAIN were in the same Cory Spooky Scary Sunday. Cheers!
Ayyyy!!!! Let's goooooo!
Ever had a bad dream that a monster was in your room, and you woke up the next morning and the top side of your comforter is torn? Magic blankie.
I’ve been here since the nerf days …… you grown up so much 😭
0:00-0:49 when your playing on your phone but you hear your parents coming in your room
2:49 NO you do NOT turn the light off at that point my guy
the monster when he hides under the cover:WHAT NO DUDDDEE
Omg I’m so scared right now!! 😂😂❤️
you should become a movie maker. I really want to see the rest of dont look away.
Woah! Sweet transition in the beginning where he was a kid under the blanket &+ when rolled over out of the covers was a man. 👏🙂
Stuff like this is why I sleep with a light on 😂
That jumpscare at the end had my pants a bit fuller than I’d like. Thanks 👍
Incredible!
*HOLY SHIT GET HIM AN EMI*
I'm in a really weird spot where I have hated horror movies for so long but watched all the conjuring movies at schoolies with mates, now I watch these short horror films on youtube by myself and I both love and hate them
I haven‘t been this scared in years. Very well done, I had to look away. Super scary, loved it!
holy shit, i can not tell you how relatable that was to me. jesus christ.
him: "i know your not real"
monster: " then why tf you talking to me"
God damn this really scared me
AWESOME work of horror here! really enjoyed this, your composition was on point 🔥
That was some creepy spit right there. Kool! ;-)
So spot on. Grab us at our most vulnerable and not over the top. Just real…and damn scary!
bruh I screamed so loud. why are you such a genius dude?
Why am I watching this before going to sleep?
Weirdly enough, I don’t think I ever did consider the blanket to be a safety net (outside of keeping limbs untouched by supposed critters below my bed).
I was mostly afraid of the more genuinely horrific versions of vampires, so my head was the only part exposed. Even the neck was hidden. No idea why I had such a fear, I just did.
Suspense and intrigue - building...building..building...PAYOFF...no drop, still processing... The audience is left in the scene seeking their own personal resolution, which you brilliantly denied them :)
YEP ANYWAYS ARE YOU SAVED DAVID COX ? HAVE YOU ACCEPT JESUS AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR AND RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE I COULDN'T IMAGINE HEAVEN WITHOUT YOU
We replied a couple times on tiktok earlier and I said I'd check out your newer stuff. It's incredible to see how your work has changed in 10+ years man! The use of ambiance here over something like a string quartet is fantastic. It really sells the tension and builds up the horror instead of just going "boo, scary jumpscare". Also your utilization of the dark is great creating a sense of dread and mystery and its lit justtt well enough that it doesn't sacrifice the atmosphere while also having us not being able to see anything. Also seeing you go from action to horror is amazing too, alot of directors seem to struggle sometimes changing genres but I think you're doing an amazing job
Ayyy welcome! Thank you for checking this out and giving me your thoughts! In hindsight I would've had the film colored a little brighter, mainly in the first half because there are certain movements going on and images that most viewers seem to miss and I think it's because of the too much darkness lol. But I'm still very proud of this film and I'm glad my omission of music worked in the way I intended it to!
@@ChristopherCoxFilm Definitely! Keep up the great work man
I use to watch your old nerf content you made years ago when I was a kid and I'm amazed by the quality of the short films you've made
That's okay, I didn't feel like sleeping tonight...
This is really perfect. Keep up the good work and effort into it.
Tbh this video is an example of what schizophrenia feels and looks like for me. I know its not real, but it feels to real to not be scared of it.
Remember, You're not afraid of the dark, You're afraid of not being alone in the dark.
1:32
I dont know what it is about the distorted clock ticking sound
But it sets off fear on another level for me
The actor is phenomenon!!!!
Thanks for not making me sleep♡
When you turn your headphones to maximum it scares you with only sounds.
there comes a choice in every mans life. Mine:
1. Watch during the day.
2. Literally skip homecoming to watch this at night.
Very nice! Catching some Hill House vibes. Love it!
The way he hid under his blanket at 4:15 😂
Yoo this is so relatable
Semplicemente Perfetto!!!!!
It’s so great to see you exceed in life.
The hype is real
That jump scare was soooo scary
Saw Coryxkenshin react to this and was like "hol up he out here making short films like this "
