This is my review of the brand new Castle Arts Harmonious 72 set of Coloured Pencils, I have a lot to say about this beautiful set which you will hear by watching the video. I wanted to thank everyone who made donations I can't tell you how much you have all helped me. I know I have not gone into details but I am unfortunately experiencing serious perusal issues which are having a huge strain on me as is the case for every single one of us who experience such hardships and changes.
One way or the other I hope this will all come to an end soon and things can get back to normal or not, whatever the case may be. I know I have not put out a lot of content lately and again I apologise for that, even though I know none of you guys expect an apology and all understand.

I never ask for help, I hate it, I think it has something to do with being in the Army from such a young age, 16 and there for 13 years only after being medically retired. My Dad used to joke and say to me, when men join the Infantry and especially front line combat soldiers like the one I was in, that they remove your brain and replace it with a nice green one. But he always said to me, they don’t have to do that with you son, yours is already green. 😁😁
Asking for help on that video was so embarrassing and demoralising for me but I was in a real hole and couldn’t turn to my Dad as I had in the past as he only passed away in November. So I really wanted to talk to my Dad, get his wisdom and guidance regarding the issue Im in but just couldn’t.
But the help I received from you guys actually broke my heart, in a good way. I’ve always known how fortunate I am to have the people I do watching my videos. Nobody has ever put pressure on me to release content, other than myself, everyone has always been more than understanding about my disability and the restrictions that places on me; so I’ve always known just how blessed I am to have so many wonderful people support the channel. But when I made the last video, it took me a day of hovering over the Make Video Public button, before I eventually just clicked it and regretted the decision instantly. Then I seen the support and I actually broke down. Part of me really feels I don’t deserve such wonderful people in my life and another part of me is crying out for such people.
I think right now what with everything going on and what happened in my past, I really need to sort myself out and get back to the man I once was.

I completely agree with you Harry, about the grey greens and French greys, if other pencil brands incorporated them more, that would be so amazing 🤩. I purchased these pencils last week and they are beautiful colours, but definitely not a stand alone set, I agree. They have a good lay down of colour and they surprised me with the amount of layering I could do with them, but as expected, they still don’t compare to the more expensive brands, for me personally. A great set of colours to compliment my other pencil sets though and I’m really pleased I purchased them. Thanks for a great review Harry and take as much time as you need, we all understand how complicated life can get, so you never ever need to apologise to us. We appreciate you, whether you post every few weeks, months or however long. Thank you for being you 🙂
Window-shopping around Blick, the bigger brands tend to include those in open stock so that might be a nice tip for anyone who's hoping to find them elsewhere even if they're not in a set!

So sorry, Harry to hear about your father. I can really empathise as I lost my dear mother at the end of June last year❤ Over a year and I still find myself in tears all of a sudden. Where there was great love there will be great sadness and the feeling of loss doesn’t seem to go away. I find it best to try and take things as they come and look after myself as best I can. You have a lot of people who care about you watching your channel and all we want is for you to get through this and I hope our support helps in some way.
I bought the set of pencils as soon as Castle Arts told me about them (I subscribed to their emails) as they seemed to have potential and moreover I love new art supplies! Perhaps if Arteza are doing open stock Castle Arts will follow their lead. I often wonder whether the cheaper sets are actually good value when you have to replace them with another full set. Although the initial outlay is higher with the artists sets you can maintain all the colours as you need them so in the long run it could work out cheaper. Your reviews are especially useful to ensure if you do decide to splash out you know you are getting a good product, so thank you for that.

I bought these as soon as I could - I’m a sucker for muted tones. I find myself adding black, indigo, yellow ochre and carmine for bits here & there. Otherwise I do think the set can stand alone if you don’t want those extras. I found it really helpful to color the included tutorial to get a better feel for using the pencils harmoniously. Not something I usually do, but worth the time with these.

I wish more lines would offer a 24-color grays add on sets with the stepped cool and French grays.
Absolutely agree 100%, Lyra and Koh-I-Noor both have a dedicated set of 12 greys, but a 24 set with a selection of greys would be amazing, in fact a 48 set. I have the full COPIC collection and I think they have 46 dedicated greys, Warm, Cool, Neutral and Toner. I would absolutely love to see more French Greys in sets as well, they are gorgeous colors in the Prismacolor range. Hello Harry, so sorry to hear that life is difficult for you just now. Hopefully things will resolve themselves soon. Thanks for your review and I've been swithering about these pencils, the colours look gorgeous. I have a couple of tins of the Arists range and I bought the box of pastels, great for colouring fairies. The lack of open stock puts me off a bit, and as I'm trying to build up a set of Chromaflows, I'm thinking I'd be best to keep my money for them, but who knows I just might be tempted, thank you once again, take care of yourself Kate 👍

Absolutely stunning set! I especially love those Seafoam- type greens I can't stop staring at them! I sure hope they release it on Amazon soon, I'm not sure on how long they usually take to release on other websites I hope they can because unfortunately, their website does not ship to where I live 😭Thank you so much for sharing those muted tones are so beautiful! I hear you, Harry. I've been having a difficult time of it myself. I am not an artist, but this video came up in my newsfeed from Google. I used to have a set of colored pencils that were soft and lovely to use, but they were lost long ago. I was telling my sister about it and maybe my phone heard me. I need color, and I feel the need to color in one of the coloring books I have, but I have been mourning my old set of pencils.
Now, suddenly, I know where to find new pencils, just from what you shared from what must have been a huge effort to come out of it long enough to share from your Gift of being an Artist. You have helped. You have great worth. Thank you. I am going to get some pencils and see if I can let the artist in me have a little fun. Thank you 😊 Bless you. You are beautiful. You are loved. I don’t know what to say, thank you so very much. Equally I am so sorry you have been experiencing difficulties, I hate seeing people struggle or in emotional or physical pain. There are times I feel so weak and helpless, emotions I never ever encountered as a soldier. My injury changed everything about me and sometimes I think absolutely for the best but other times I’m not so sure.
I’m so fortunate to have the amazing people watch the videos I upload and support me as an individual. I encourage you to get some pencils, an adult colouring book of which there are so many amazing ones now days and release the artist in you. I turned to art after I suffered a spinal injury during combat in the British Army. For years later, learning to walk again, dealing with losing my job as a soldier, I suffered severe PTSD, Clinical Depression and so many sleepless nights due to pain and nightmares, I developed a fear of actually trying to sleep. But art and this community has helped me through so many times.

@TheArtGearGuide I have CPTSD as a result of a very violent childhood that makes it impossible for me to behave 'normally ' . I have had severe insomnia my whole life. Surviving trauma isn't easy, but it makes you a more compassionate human being, and I'm starting to think that makes the pain and suffering bearable because we become better people. Yes, you made a video about the pasteltint, but it's difficult to compare in two videos ! Are some the same ? Do we need both ? Like we need softtouch and gold set !

I would just tone my current pencils with greys its the greys that make all of the colours harmonious. but the packaging is lovely

Are these just an extension of the pasteltint set, or is it completely different?
I just looked at their website. Apparently the colours in the Harmonious set are all new and not in any other sets.
Sadly, these aren't available in Canada (yet), not through Amazon nor the company's site directly (which doesn't ship to Canada at all).

About the colored pencils I don't see the meaning for me to get a set like this not being open stock.. Arteza has open stock and they're also a budget art company.. I find that the harmonious is very similar to the pastel tints and even some of the colors are in the pastel tints.. so i don't see a reason to purchase.. but I do see for those who are collectors and love neutrals this is so perfect.. but for artist its just a waste of money in the long run.. this is a great purchase or gift for a hobbyist. 🥹🙌🏽🩷☀️
