    Thanks for this video! After I got it set up I was wondering if you would know how to make the livestream of the camera use a Sonos speaker's microphone for two-way communication with the Doorbell?

    Hello I would like to know I have a Samsung 2022 smart television that has Apple TV built in side can I connect my ADT control doorbell camera to it or will I need a physical Apple TV box?

    Is it possible to do something similar with android TV?

      I am not sure if this is possible on the android tv or not. Unfortunately, I do not own an android tv, so don't really have a way to test it.

    This is amazing! Noob here. Can you please tell me where to enter the YAML code? Is it just the terminal?

  • @steveswoodworking2504

    I'm assuming then that you already have an icloud account? As when I try to set the room under HomeKit, it tells me I need an icloud account. And to display security cameras, the icloud page is telling me I need to pay for the icloud account. Or does this method work with a free icloud account?

    Great video, however how do you get it to go back to the last show/media that you were watching, say after 30 seconds of viewing the door cam?

    Hi, I’ve configured it in the configuration file and added the bridge To HomeKit but the front door camera I have configured doesn’t show up in the Apple TV or on iOS. Do you have any idea why it might be doing this?

    • @BurnsHA
      @BurnsHA  Před 3 lety

      can you show me your config, mainly the section that has to do with homekit?

  • @whobutni

    Is it absolutely necessary to have a binary sensor? I am running my Hikvision cameras on my Hikvision NVR and there are motion, line and event sensors that seem to be exposed to homekit. However I keep getting dictionary errors when putting your config for Homekit into my config.yaml file

    • @BurnsHA
      @BurnsHA  Před 2 lety

      you have to have a binary sensor to trigger showing the camera feed.

    I'm on the new apple tv firmware 15.0, I have 4 ring cameras and 2 doorbells, I got them to show up on the apple tv, but only as still images. The screen says it is streaming but it is only a still pic, any help would be greatly appreciated

    Is there any way to do this with a Ring Doorbell through home assistant to the Apple TV Picture in Picture?

    • @BurnsHA
      @BurnsHA  Před 2 lety

      i don't have a ring doorbell to test with, but do the ring camera feeds showup in Home Assistant? It should work pretty much the same way.

    I've added stream_source to HomeKit configuration, but it doesn't look like it made any difference - video quality is still heavily degraded, what's worse it's playing like 1/10x speed. When I open same stream on Apple TV using RTSP player, it works fine. Any clue what could I be doing wrong?
    P.S. Found a solution! added "video_codec: copy" to homekit camera configuration and that solved it!

    This is so cool! I set up an old smartphone as a camera in Home Assistant, and I just got one of those 29 dollar Unifi G3 Instants. I don't have an apple TV personally, I just stream my stuff on kodi with a HTPC running Libreelec. I know you did a webOS TV video before, do you think this could work with that?

  • @BenjiBenning1
    @BenjiBenning1 Před 3 lety

    Works great! thank you. :) My only issue is that my HASS server is pretty underpowered so ffmpeg has a hard time streaming the video well. what do you use to host HASS?

    • @BurnsHA
      @BurnsHA  Před 3 lety

      that was the issue that I ran into as well. Did you put the rtsp stream in the stream source? That way it doesnt pull the stream from hass but straight from the original stream?

    • @BenjiBenning1
      @BenjiBenning1 Před 3 lety

      @@BurnsHA I thought it would do that as well, but nope. Opened up top on my hass server (with the stream_source set), and i still see ffmpeg popping up the moment i start streaming. does it act differently on your end? My cameras are being imported into hass using the Unifi Protect integration, so that might cause an issue i assume. if you don't see that happening on your end i'll try adding them manually and see if that helps.

    • @BurnsHA
      @BurnsHA  Před 3 lety

      im not using ffmpeg as my camera integration, im just using the generic camera integration

    • @BenjiBenning1

    would not it be more useful if we were to run after how to feed apple tv with security cam when the cam actually itself identifies a movement in the video ? Rather than feeding the camera into apple tv when kids who are 99% already in the house, opens the door….

    • @BurnsHA
      @BurnsHA  Před 2 lety +2

      it would work similarly. If you have some sort of motion sensor or using the camera as a motion sensor you could use that as a trigger to then display the camera on the apple tv. Basically instead of using the door sensor, just use the motion sensor as a trigger.
