    Good video, I am getting more convinced to start tinkering with HA for more advance automations and continue using HK

    • @TechTechMoreTech
      @TechTechMoreTech  Před 4 lety

      For the more advanced automations you’ll need to utilize NodeRed, HA is ok for advanced automations but not amazing. If you only want advanced automations in HomeKit then just use the Home+ app (it’s $16 but very comprehensive, still cheaper than a raspberry pi).

    • @navarro152
      @navarro152 Před 4 lety +1

      Tech Tech & More Tech ok I didn’t hear of this before. I am already using the Home+ app. But I thought that with HA I was able to start adding more conditions and more reliable than in Home+. But I’ll take a look to NodeRed, thanks

    I have a large house with lots of rooms and over 50 smart devices so far... Your integration instructions worked perfectly. Thanks! My question is, after integration of the items into HomeKit how do I add a new HASS device into HomeKit without completely redoing my integration?

    • @TechTechMoreTech
      @TechTechMoreTech  Před 3 lety +2

      Just add them to the list in your config file. Restart HASS and then the Jew device will be in HomeKit on the default room.

      I have a question. The principal device that I was integrate with your indications was an Aqara Gateway. The question is... if I have removed from de Homekit (apple) how I can to migrate to HA all the device that´s depend of the Aqara? for example, I have an aqara mini switch (that one with one button), it´s zigbee... but I can´t connect properly with the Nortek stik (that one I bought because of your other video :) ... Any sugestion? Thanks in advance and regards from Chile.

    • @TechTechMoreTech
      @TechTechMoreTech  Před 3 lety +1

      You will need to unpair and reset the zigbee device in order to pair it to a new zigbee hub.
      Or you can connect all of the Aqaba devices to the Aqaba hub, and then connect the hub to home assistant and all the devices will show up. That’s what I’ve done

    Thanks for the video. Just trying to clarify. Set up Home Assistant on the Raspberry Pi. Use a HomeBridge integration to expose everything to HomeKit? Do you need to install HomeBridge somewhere else on the Pi?

    I am in the Apple echo system. Which one would be better for integration into HomeKit, HomeAssistant or HomeBridge?

    • @TechTechMoreTech
      @TechTechMoreTech  Před 3 lety

      If you only want to keep using HomeKit, then Homebridge is simpler and easier. If you're interested in more in depth or complex automations and control, Home Assistant will offer that, but it is a lot of work to make it work nicely.

    Just wondering how homekit accessories works and controlled from outside network. Understood that if we use third party apps to control devices from outside, it uses its own cloud server to send the command to network hub and hub will send the command to that device. But how it works in homekit? Is it using our icloud or is it using apple cloud for IoT or by any other means?

    Great video thank you, but....It seems it is not working with devices which are using Bluetooth LE (like Eve Thermostat for example). Do you have any solution how to add such deviced to HA from HK?

    • @TechTechMoreTech
      @TechTechMoreTech  Před 4 lety

      Oof that’s a tough one. I think the only way is if there is a custom plugin for that specific device. A quick Google search tells me that it may not be possible at the moment

  • @computerschreck

    I tried this, but I have an issue with the filters set in the configuration.yaml file. I have six actual lights, but 12 entities in HA (I think they were created by iConnectHue a while back). I tried to filter out the duplicates, but they still show up when pairing with Homekit. I already double-checked for typos and am kinda running out of ideas, though admittedly I am quite a HA noob. Help please?
    (edit: running HA supervised in a docker container on a raspberry pi 3B with up-to-date pi os, if that makes a difference)

    • @TechTechMoreTech
      @TechTechMoreTech  Před 2 lety +1

      They should just be Zigbee sensors, so as long as you have a Zigbee hub in HA, you can use the HomeKit Bridge integration to port them over

    • @TechTechMoreTech
      @TechTechMoreTech  Před 3 lety +2

      Yes. That’s what I did. Keep in mind they’re only necessary for HomeKit only devices.
      For ones that can connect to various services, there may just be an existing home Assistant integration for them

    @PierreScerri Před 4 lety +1

    Nice video. Clear and concise explanation.
    My question is what do you do after you have all the home assistant entities up and running in the Home app and at some point, all the devices report "No response "?
    This usually (but not only) happens when HA is restarted.
    The only course of action is to move the bridge and start again.
    Very annoying.

    • @TechTechMoreTech
      @TechTechMoreTech  Před 4 lety

      That's super annoying! I've had that happen a few times but restarting HA fixed it for me. Do you have a lot of z-wave devices maybe, and the mesh isn't complete before it starts back up?
      Try setting autostart to "false" for Homekit bridge; and then restart HA, and start Homekit bridge manually after a minutes.

    • @PierreScerri
      @PierreScerri Před 4 lety

      Tech Tech & More Tech. No zwave devices. Mostly Sonoff devices with ESPHome and Wyze motion and contact sensors. Will try the auto start method. I seriously doubt it as the other day i left the house for an hour (all was well) and when I came back everything was ‘No response’

    I'm new to HA and have it running on a Zotac Zbox. Since it has no inputs like the Pi, I need an alternative. I want to hard wire an alarm contact directly to it. I have found a Z-Wave Multi-Input/Output Dry Contact Bridge; Cert ID: ZC08-16040002. Would that work?
