    That’s neat. For folks only running homeassistant, another great alternative is frigate. It’s designed to run as a container and to be integrated with home assistant, it can add any camera that has an RTSP stream. And it got updated recently to support TensorFlow on nVidia GPUs for super fast and local object detection.

    • @seethruhead7119
      @seethruhead7119 Před rokem +9

      wouldn't you want to use frigate AND scrypted? Assuming your goal was to add any camera to alexa/homekit/etc?

      Hey, what if only use motioneye with 5 raspberry pi’s & cams?
      I’ve found that due to the different cameras I use and different raspbian versions (buster, bullseye), I can’t use the integrated function within motioneye to see all cams on one page, it can’t find other devices, so I thought this scrypted might be an alternative…(I’ll have to setup home assistant now though, which I’ve never done.)
      Hope you can give any suggestions 👍

      @@seethruhead7119 I guess there is nothing preventing that. You could use frigate for object detection and use frigatés restream fuctionality to feed the video into scrypted

    • @transatlant1c
      @transatlant1c Před rokem

      @@seethruhead7119 definitely. Setup frigate and record for a longer time there, then restream to Google home, as the retention there is very limited anyway. Plus then if you wanted to automate on events, it’d be much quicker than going over the public net to the Google home api

      I'd like to use this with Shinobi.
      I moved from MotionEye to Shinobi because I found out that it is more flexible, faster, and records every moment without a miss in recordings which motioneye was doing it all the time on the same hardware...
      Any way to combine Scrypted with Shinobi?

    The thing about Apple Home and "Stream Only" vs. recording is the recordings are actually stored in iCloud, not your Scrypted instance (unless you get the NVR plugin for Scrypted, which is actually something separate). Great video!

    Can’t wait to try Scrypted. I had 2 ring doorbells hooked up to HomeKit through HOOBs and it worked well for a long time until it started to repeatedly send alerts when someone rang the doorbell. It was like one alert every two seconds for a few minutes. 2 things
      1) it’s open source so unlikely that code could sneak in. To be sure pin your container to a tag or better yet the SHA

I have two working, one with Ubuntu 22 and one with Debian 12. I wanted run this by you. When setting up the camera now in Homekit, the advanced features of recording, recognizing objects, etc. are not available on all 3 solutions - updated r.pi, Ubuntu, and Debian. In Homekit, the message for the added camera says "This accessory has not been certified to work with Homekit so some features may not be available." This really isn't an application for all Home Hubs as described in the video. This is specifically designed for Home Assistant, Google Home, and Alexa. There is no apparent support for SmartThings or Hubitat. Also, the installation script that the author provides for docker-compose ends in "Error response from daemon: error gathering device information while adding custom device "/dev/dri": no such file or directory". So the simple installation script fails even on an Ubuntu Server 22.04 with docker installed.

    Hey Tim, if you setup scrypted on host mode in portainer. Were you still able to use traefik with it? I'm having some trouble but I assume it's because scrypted requires host and traefik portainer containers should be using proxy network. Any advice?

    Can this get blink cameras to stream to HA (instead of just snapshot)?

    What a major PITA to attempt to get Google Nest setup.

    I like scrypted but I have one gripe which I don't know if its scrypteds issue or googles, but I can't for the life of me get my nest Hello (wired 1st gen) motion events to work, I get the stream fine but no recording. It seems the motion sensor for it just doesn't work. It used to once upon a time, but stopped working and has never started working again since. I do pay for Nest Aware so get the recordings there anyway, but I would have loved to just be able to go to one app to see all my recordings for my cameras.

    Thank for this! Perfect timing! I had just found a few PTZ tuya cams for like 5$ at a junk store. I have not been using them because I could not get them into Home Assistant and frigate. I was messing with "goRTC" to try and accomplish this with no luck. This should be just what I am looking for. I will try it as soon as I am home.

    Does anyone know if this would help link cameras with BlueIris? I've got a couple Blink cameras that I'd like to integrate and not be stuck with their app.
