  • Classroom and syllabus-based language learning is a failed system. The overwhelming majority of people who complete courses and pass exams still can't have simple conversations with confidence. If we were as bad at learning to ride a bike as we are at learning a second language, we would have long ago abandoned bicycles as a way of getting around. So why do we tolerate the "classroom and textbook" way of language learning? In his talk, Steve explains the science behind why these learning techniques fail us and how AI has changed the game. Through AI, we can break free from the failed legacy language learning models and form genuine human connections and appreciation across cultures.
