This is the video I wanted! I can just tell when I do 2 15 minute sessions in the sauna it’s very healthy. I then jump in the ice cold pool directly after which is amazing lol
Thanks for that man. Saved me a good few minutes of my life 😊
Thank you
Thank you
Love when someone cliffnotes these types of videos. Especially with the ad campaigns. Thank you!
Greetings from Finland. The promiseland of saunas. Hell yes. Once again thanks Thomas.
Moved to Finland 9 months ago. Doing sauna 3-4 times a week... highly recommended :)
That’s novice for Fins
@@frazer4470 Now now, let's not shame others for not using saunas less than others
Now Marin takes saunas away too. 😭
@@frazer4470 and your point is...?
@@marir1508 Not in Pirkanmaa, thankfully :)
Sweating helped keep my fluids down while on dialysis. Highly recommend
This makes me wonder about the possible benefits of living without AC in South Texas, which is basically a giant sauna in summer 😂
Heard that roofers don't use the AC because it's too hard on your body or should I say you are more used to the heat f you dont.. San Antonio
@@eladverde4674 i know when i worked in an un air conditioned factory I had much better heat tolerance, and 78f was too cold
Southerners before the advent of AC were certainly a lot tougher than now.
Sauna includes some cold water like shower or even total submerging in it.
Yes, also there is a Huge problem with a.c in Any climate: MOLD!!!! The air duct that carry the cool air are lying with mold and mildew and all sorts of viruses and germs
Loved Sauna.. but my biggest problem was the dryness of my hair. Someone at my gym talked me into a cap. It completely eliminated the dryness problem for me. So if anything please use a cap so the hair does not get dry. I am sure there are bunch of caps out there, but I used the ones from saunacaps. Enjoy.
🤔 what type of 🧢
I recommend putting some hair oil on your hair and tied it up in a tight bun to hold in the moisture.
My mom told me about it after the second time I went in the sauna .. first two times hair felt and looked dry, but it’s been ok since I put a Microfiber towel around it especially when I use oil on my hair first then put the towel on .. hair feels nice after washing.. it’s like killing two birds with one stone.. not only your body is benefitting from the heat but also your hair is getting a deep hair mask/oil treatment at the same time. 😊
Agreed!! I have started Oiling my hair with organic oils .. deep treatments 😜
I have a steam sauna at home that I use for 20 minutes, 5 days a week at roughly 170 to 190 degrees after my second workout of the day. I'm 59 and this has helped me with the various aches and pains from being in the gym for 30 years. i also notice that it helps reduce stress and I sleep better. Life changer!
Hi what is the steam room you use and would you recommend the brand
@@nicolaewington8308 Under $5000 for a 4 person steam sauna, great quality
@@lololilo1174 What brand and type did you purchase?
it helps my gout, arthritis right away. There are like 100 benefits I can list but it helps my GOUT that not a lot of people didnt try steam sauna to solve the issues
I can handle sauna much easier than my ice bath! Lol
I love doing my post workout stretches in the sauna and gym hot tub it just melts all the aches and pains away. Then I jump into a freezing cold shower to refresh and reduce inflammation
This is my exact protocol. People see me as weird sometimes stretching in the sauna. But it's the best time to do it
Then would one get positive effects from sitting in a hot tub after a workout as well?!
I do exactly the same thing
@@Radhatter1 👍
Eureka :)
Thanks for the video Thomas. Very informative and well put together. I've started implementing 15-20 minute sessions in a dry sauna after rock-climbing/lifting. My recovery time and general mood have both improved significantly.
As an avid sauna user this is the ultimate confirmation bias I needed 😂
Hahaha exactly
I just started sauna and I love it … it’s so brutal , heart rate hits like 120 .. after 20 minutes I feel like I’ve been hit by a truck … I lay in the pool after and just feel exhausted but amazing ! it’s tough tho riding that 20 min
I never leave comments anywhere but I just want to thank you for getting straight to the point in your videos.
You videos give me knowledge and hope. Thank you Thomas!
I wish I had a professor like Thomas Delauer, he is so passionate and able to put it in simple term.
Love ya bro, you’ve given me so much knowledge to enhance and recreate myself
Living partly in finland, sauna is, as you could expect a relegion, but thing that people don't talk about is the stress extrême heat around 80degree celsius, to 0 or less degree celcius by swimming in frezen river, ice bath.... and alterne few time between those two extrem.
And this is our tradition with my partner after skiing or running :D
(And you would be amazed on the number of different type of sauna here )
Now I’ve figured out my regret in life, that I wasn’t born in Finland. I must come for a visit some day. To do it after skiing would be amazing. What do you mean si many different types, beyond traditional and IR?
#6 Great sleep on sauna days. Temperatures above 190F really enhance this, in my experience.
I'm always impressed with the content from Thomas because i always learn so much on things that are interesting to me
I just bought an infrared sauna at sauna space... a bit of an investment but I am stoked to have these benefits right in my home
I’d love to know if you are still using it as often as you first did
Wow really great detail! It’s so difficult to tell family and friends what the benefits are because it is so technical so I will be sending this video around!
Highly recommend Higher Dose sauna blankets for home use for those who don’t have either the budget or space for a home sauna. Best pandemic purchase. My skin is extra soft after and I sleep well.
I thoroughly enjoy sauna time... When I can't do cold therapy, I get into an icy shower in it's place. This is wonderful for the skin and joints.
Welcome to Finland! We have high-heat dry saunas everywhere! (About two million saunas in a country with 5.5 million inhabitants). Awesome video, I'll share it! I commend you for your great work, Thomas.
Actually we have more than 3.5 million saunas 😅
So, we have more saunas than cars in our country 😄
Interesting...... what's the reason
@@rebel8440 good and balmy weather all around the year ;)
Damn. Suddenly I want to move there. But is it a socialist country?
@@rebel8440 cause they know about health haha
Did a sauna session today for 30min at 140 degrees. First time for me. I felt super zen for at least an hour or so after. Plan to do it going forward regularly. Good stuff.
I do sauna at least 4 times a week, 30 mins at 140° and it really helps my stress level. Also, I have Lyme disease and heat kills Lyme so I'm trying to heal in natural ways by doing sauna and taking herbal and natural remedies. What a difference in my symptoms!
Hi again, been doing it now for 2+ months, bought an unlimited sauna monthly membership at a local studio and plan to do it forever. I may even buy a personal one for home. Yes, it's that good. I have seen my BP go down and I miss it if too many days go by. I've done at least 3x per week (usually more). SOOO worth it.
Damn I Dan only last 20 minutes.
@@radofenix I've gotten even hotter now; 3 months in the other day I did 40min at 162 degrees.
Super, super educational. Thank you Thomas💪
Wow that was fantastic info. Thanks for breaking it down.
I use my sauna at least 5 days a week and actually prefer it in the morning versus Mr liking evening ones. Probably the best health purchase we’ve ever made!
Why
@@youiyoui9942 its so relaxing

Thank you. For rock solid confirmation. I knew that saunas were highly beneficial but I didn’t know detail. You’ve just confirmed it. Now I know I’m on the right track. I am a practicing therapist and the more I learn from you the easier it is to educate clients.
Awesome video and thank you for the acknowledgment
This video was so helpful.
Thank you.
Really excellent scientific explanations! Just what I needed to understand why I do what I do! Thank you.
It's all about the bloodflow. Everything is based on bloofflow including immune system, which is critical for dealing with both cancer and heart disease. I don't do an actual sauna but I have a bunch of red light/NIR combo bulbs. Right now I have one blasting each side of my face as I post. These things sound scammy but I have seen AMAZING results and this stuff is the best fitness/health thing to happen to me since fasting.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Try out Therasage. It’s a portable sauna that has full spectrum infrared light! I have one and I love it. It’s high quality and nontoxic materials
BLUDFLOW
Can I ask where you purchased the red light bulbs?
@@kryptok5759 I just got some combo LED bulbs with 18 LEDs on amazon, both infrared and red light. I am pretty happy with them. Already have 5 but will get more.
I've been using a infared sauna for three years now originally for the detox benefits. I'm increasing my times per week after listening to your data and also Dr. Rhonda Patrick. The data on Alzheimer reduction risk really got me to go in at least 5 times a week at 160deg for 20 min. With a cold shower to follow.
Is that 160deg farnheit or Celsius? Bc if it’s Celsius wtff
Excellent insights!

Glad you threw in that last bit about the infrared sauna because I’ve been considering purchasing one. Thanks Thomas!
I’m trying to understand that better too.
Infrared saunas are not real saunas…
Good job. Thank you very much Sir.
Thomas, God bless you brother! Thank you for everything that you do and for teaching us a healthier lifestyle and being truthful in the process. You're a genuine dude seriously man thank you for everything! Your inspiration has made me lose weight and be very sexy thanks again buddy. 🤙👍💪
Thank you for this.
Yeah did learn alot thanks
I got the delivery from yesterday! thanks for making it possible thomas!!!!
Dr. Rhonda Patrick did a really great hour long presentation on benefits of the sauna that can be found on CZcams
That was great. I’m gonna watch this a few more times though
Tim can you make a sauna playlist? Would love to be able to watch all your videos in one list! Thanks for all your advice!
I recently started using the sauna at my gym after HIT with weightlifting. I suffer from migraines and often get exercise migraines. Now, since using the sauna no migraines. No exercise migraine or other migraines! Female, age 47, 137 lbs, 5’10, 20 minutes is all I can handle in the sauna before feeling lightheaded.
My 26 yr. old daughter is the same way. A couple of days ago a friend invited her to do a one hour hot yoga class. She was worried about faceplanting because she doesn't tolerate heat well. I told her to take a half teaspoon of potassium bicarbonate before class, and to her very happy surprise she survived the entire class with no problems which is a first.
Great job on video 👍👍
great valuable super informative....thanks
Like how it helps remove free radicals after a workout.
Thank you for the Sauna video.
This week I got a Relax “professional” model. I got to use it for the first time yesterday. I can’t wait to get back home so that I can use it again. It’s going to be a nearly daily thing for me to use.
Thanks for sharing, and love doing sauna every couple of weeks.
My wifes nickname is Sauna she gives me all the stress I need .

Thanks 🙏 Thomas as always helpful - thoughts on sauna before or after exercise regime?
Greeting from Finland. This video got me back into going to sauna.
Good info
excellent ... thanks
Fascinating about the 1 hour sauna sessions day and night. I might need to try that.
Great video very informative
Dr. Raymond Francis believes a sauna should be covered by health insurance and there should be one in every home!
So basicly he wants to turn normal homes into finnish homes (almost every household in Finland has sauna)
Keep in mind that Finns are different. I Can't take the heat well, but exposure to the elements makes your heart circulate;it feels good. I can physically feel different after dumping myself in cold water and then the heat of the sauna. I've watched allot of Hidden killer episodes in England (actual documentary) and with my limited knowledge in science i can say that im not surprised that we still live because the rudimentary sauna saved us.
excelente videoo!
Awesome video
Thanks!
thanks Thomas
When I bought my infrared sauna it directed no exercise before or after. I have not put it to the test yet. Thank you Mr. Delauer for your time
Please could you talk about lying on your left side to relieve stomach pain and improve digestion. I’ve heard it works... but would love some classic Thomas science information. 😊
If you dont have access to a sauna, you can run a bath as hot as your body can handle and rest in that. It is a humid heat as opposed to dry heat sauna, but still has many of the benefits.
hey thomas - great video. qq does this apply to sauna suits and sauna vests as well? or only the actual sauna experience. thanks!
Before Corona-Virus I went everyday for months in a row : heaven on earth.
I have an inferred sauna that I love. What temperature and how long do you recommend?
Nicely done, ty!!! What temp range do most saunas run? Cc
Even more Sauna vids please! 😁
Renaissance Periodization which I think is Dr. Mike Isratel's channel and
Thomas DeLauer are right now my two favorite fitness and health youtube channels.
These guys will answer pretty much all your health questions with Science and experience.
I love these two channels and these two geniuses.
America or the United States doesn't talk nearly enough about the benefits of saunas. It's really infuriating! Thank you for bringing more awareness.
I prefer the Steam bath over the dry sauna any day of the week
I purchased that tea because of your channel 💛
Thank you Thomas! You are so super-inspiring! You’ve even inspired me to start my weight loss journey channel!!!
Thanks a lot I know some coworkers go into the Sauna and they said they feel great after a workout gonna try it.
Yes...me 2 on Thursday
How many of these benefits apply to infrared, dry, or traditional sauna?
😯 so informative
This is insane information!!! LFG!!!
Thanks thomas! I go to the sauna in my neighbourhood twice a week! It has everything; steam sauna, hot sauna, mild sauna, cold bath etc. My approach is a contrast bathing approach. There are sandtimers(english term?) Which last around 20 minutes I think. Today was my first time staying in the hottest sauna for a whole round, whoohoo!
What about a steam sauna? How does it compare to infra-red and dry saunas?
This
Hey, first and foremost, thank you for all the help you have given us, you are a decent person and have helped shaped the lives of many, thank you.
What would your definition of "relatively high heat" be in the dry sauna?
Thanks in advance
Thanks for substantiation what I've already discovered. NAMASTE
The EPO thing, as far as I know, is only a suggested explanation at the moment and no studies have found it to be conclusive. Plasma volume goes up first, then red blood cells increase after about 3 weeks (not always) as some sort of compensatory effect, but it is not known how/why.
I do 15 minutes of sauna after every workout, it’s amazing!

I worked my way up to twenty minutes but then started going three times in the same night right after every workout. Two ten minute trips then finish with a full twenty.
Thank you Thomas! I am an old admirer of you but I changed my…Sub again👍
Sitting in the sauna while watching this!
What is your opinion on portable steam sauna?
Any research on improving insulin sensitivity?
Very nice!! How do you think saunas compare to clothing that mimic the effect? I also do Wim Hof Breathing so I’ve been more inclined in embracing the cold especially with cold showers. Is it possible to do both? If so would you try sauna first shower second or vice versa?
I’d think cold before would be much better. Seeing as how the benefit of sauna is in heating the core body temperature, whereas a cold shower afterward may diminish that effect.
So how long should a sauna session be? And before a workout, after workout? Both? 15 before, 15 after? Just 30 after?
Which is better steam sauna or dry sauna?
Hey thomas im looking for the endorphin and opioid effect and i think my truck works perfectly as a sauna sat down for 30 mins today after my work out combined with being fasted and i feel great
This is great information! Are the benefits the same for a steam room?
I use the sauna and steam room once a week and it does help me a lot mentally.
good sir it's an amazing explanation.
I would recommend to try Eastern European sauna called ,,Bania'' it's with tree branches with leafs on it..the best sauna I've ever done
