    Outstanding video with all the details for exactly the project I will be doing soon -- though as others have mentioned the Primer and Metalcast base coats should definitely be reversed with primer first and metalcast base directly under the metalcast blue coats to achieve maximum results. But otherwise having the links to all the paint products is super helpful!

    It appears the coats are in the wrong order. Should be Primer, base coat then color. Doing it this way totally negates the use of the base coat as that is what shines through the color. The way you have done it the finish actually looks more like straight color, rather than the anodized look which would have been if you used the base coat under the color, as the color is actually a colored clear. If you know something we don't as to the reason of your order of coats, please advise. Many thanks and the stickers were a nice touch.

    @doobyboy21 Před měsícem

    Ok people lets talk about thermodynamics for a second... the relations between heat and other forms of energy (such as mechanical, electrical, or chemical energy), and, by extension, of the relationships between all forms of energy. Break Galipers never get hot because the pads vs the rotors are the ones creating the heated energy ! Its like touching your oven when you are cooking something in it... Do you burn your hand when touching the oven ? No, because the heat is in the oven with the food being cooked ! In other words to make this simple, you do not need to use High Temp paint to paint your Galipers... If it gives you piece of mind then use it ! But a Galiper never gets hot to the point of bubbling paint !

    I have Gr supra my calipers are already painted red. After i scuff it with sand paper do i needa put primer on before putting on color coat? Or can i go straight to color

    • @JJBanuelos
      @JJBanuelos  Před 10 měsíci +1

      They primer will help hide some of the imperfections from sanding. It’s not necessary but will also help the paint stick to the caliper.

    A lot of work and over spray is still a big issue x across 4 corners - the other concern is that the paint, via a rattle can, is thinned down to get it out of the nozzle...it's so thin it can start flaking in a few weeks. The brush on system has very thick enamel, that smooths itself on application so no brush strokes, and best of all - no over spray. The issue with the brush on, once you start, unless you have all 4 corners in the air at the same time, you might not get all of them done inside the dry time for the resin / epoxy like paint, that starts to harden after 3 hours.

    Professional job JJ, I will give it a try, now on my fronts they are already AMG performance brakes in plain cast with the AMG logo in black lettering. I presume I will strip off that paint lettering completely during prep before using your technique to prevent the raised lettering from showing up once new coats are applied. And do you have a link for the sticker lettering for Mercedes AMG calipers?

    Did your brakes work ok since you did not cover the slot where the brake pads show or even where the brake pads slide on

    • @JJBanuelos
      @JJBanuelos  Před rokem

      Yup didn’t have any issues. I didn’t paint the surface of the brake pads. If I got paint on the slides it would eventually just rub off as I apply pressure with the pedal. I foresee paint stopping brake pads from working

    So, my dad says that the brake caliper should be removed from the brake disc if we want it completely painted and all of the pads and stuff should be removed. And use a paint pistol not spray cans?

    • @JJBanuelos
      @JJBanuelos  Před 2 lety +2

      Yes if you want to make sure you get coverage over the entire brake caliper’s removing them is the best way. I did it this was because not everyone will have the correct tools to do so & it’ll eliminate problems down the road. As far as the air pistol that’s a little excessive for painting calipers. All you need is some good paint & even better clear coat. The clear coat I recommend is called 2K Clear.
