    Hi Lauren, thanks for sharing these wonderful tips. Lately, there have been many designers using procreate for surface pattern designs. Would you recommend Procreate for creating designs?

    • @LaurenLesley
      @LaurenLesley  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi there! You're so welcome! At the time I recorded this video, I didn't have an iPad Pro, but now I do and I absolutely LOVE using Procreate. So yes, I'd highly recommend it. I typically draw my motifs in Procreate, then export to Photoshop to finish my repeat pattern. Hope that helps!

    • @Palmpalm111
      @Palmpalm111 Před 3 lety

      @@LaurenLesley Thank you so much. I'm trying to avoid a Photoshop/Illustrator subscription at the moment.Would Procreate as a standalone app suffice? or Procreate +affinity?

    • @LaurenLesley
      @LaurenLesley  Před 3 lety

      @@Palmpalm111 yes, Affinity Photo! I recently bought both Affinity Designer and Photo. You can use them on the iPad, too, and they're so inexpensive compared to Adobe. Adobe has really annoyed me with their subscription model, but I still have Photoshop, b/c there are still some features Affinity doesn't have. But if you're not already hooked on Adobe, go with Affinity! I'd highly recommend them.

    • @LaurenLesley
      @LaurenLesley  Před rokem +1

      I love Procreate for creating motifs! And you can make patterns in Procreate to get started, for sure. If you want to work with professional companies, however, they will probably want a Photoshop file. You can export to PSD from Procreate so it’s possible. The only limitation is that Procreate limits the # of layers at higher dpi. Make sure to work in 300 dpi and something like 10x10 inches. It could work. :)
