Greetings from a Canadian neighbour! Very nice Taco! I just bought almost the same model and in the exact same colour. I have a 23' TRD Sport Premium 4x4 long bed in Lunar Rock on the way, ETA May 21st. This will be my first Taco. I've had Toyota's(Lexus) vehicles so I know all about their piece of mind quality, longevity and reliability. I'm currently driving an 08' Lexus ES 350(Daily driver) and a 10' Lexus RX 350(Used to pull the ATV and other cottage tasks). They've done me very well considering thier age. But it's time to consolidate and get something that can do all I need. This will also be my first brand new vehicle in like 30yrs. The previous ones were all bought used. So I expect to keep the Taco going for at least 10-15yrs. After watching this video, I'm even more excited for mine. Cheers!
Hello 👋 neighbor from the great country of 🇨🇦. Great choice for a vehicle to consolidate from those other great vehicles! I’ve been very happy with my Taco. It’s a great all around package for your needs. My biggest complaint is the transmission logic as I’m sure you have heard. It’s not a deal breaker but just something to be aware of. Transmission can hunt gears at higher speeds and hills. Not typical of other Toyotas I’ve driven. Fuel economy I’ve averaged 18 mpg in the winter and 20-22 mpg in the warmer months. I do 85% back roads (45mph or less)/ 15% highway. Congrats on the purchase and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed. Go Bruins!!

Yea I've researched this truck and I'm definitely aware of that gear hunting. But hey, if Toyota says it's normal, I'm good with that. Just a little quirk to get use to I guess. I work from home %95 of the time so my vehicles typically have very low mileage. My 15 yr old ES 350 has just over 157,000km (97,555 miles). I average about 6-8000 km/yr. I do my oil change twice a year(spring and fall), never hitting the recommended mileage mark for them. Of course we live in the salt belt region so I will be doing the rust proofing every year on it. We have Krown Rustproofing here. I am researching tonneau covers and cat shields. Those will be the first two additions I get. Cheers!

Very nice truck! I’m trying to chose between the Tacoma, Ranger, or Canyon/Colorado. I like the TRD Sport as well.
Thanks. I’ve been happy with it so far. If it’s current gen trucks I would go Tacoma. But pretty much all the midsize trucks are updating 2024/25 year so will be interesting to see. I like the redesign of the Colorado/canyon. Competition is great for us!
I have a 2017 trd sport premium (almost at 100K miles) and I absolutely love it. And I couldn't agree more about the luxury interior part, the Tacoma is the perfect amount of premium. I don't need my seat to massage my back and bump my vehicle price up to $60K. I also got mine the year before the whole automatic cruise detection system and auto high beams which I'm really happy about, I don't care for those things at all.
Awesome! Glad your love your truck. I’m about to hit the one year mark and loving mine as well. I agree the Tacoma has about all the basic premium features to make it nice but not bloated with price. I do love auto high beams as I live in a wooded back road area so it’s handy for me. The auto cruise control is good, just not a must have feature for me. Good luck with the Tacoma!

@@YeoldeOrange we are fortunate to have choices as one size and or options doesn’t fit all. Some people need full size or HD trucks, mid size, or whatever. I do miss the small Tacomas of the previous gen. It’s nice to see the Ford maverick go back into that space. Hopefully Toyota goes back as well.
Nice truck! I have a 2023 TRD Sport double cab six foot bed coming. The grill on the Sport is much nicer than the Pro.

Nice truck, great color. I was able to pick up a trail edition (sr5) in the same color. In my area, trail was a little cheaper than any TRD models and all new vehicles have a wait time.

Traded in my Tundra for a Mustang and regretted it about 3 months after, So I may try to trade it in for a Tacoma. The new Tundra is ugly and out of my price range now, so I may go for the Tacoma!. Great walk around. Thanks

@@kwmulligan yup, the turbo 4 is guaranteed. Also most likely the hybrid max power train found in the Toyota crown will make its way in as well I suspect.
Thumbnail makes it look green
Depending on lighting, lunar rock can look quite green in the thumbnail. And at night it looks grey with no green. It’s definitely a unique color.

Thank you! It’s holding up real well. I’ve had no issues with it. It’s actually a very easy color to let get dirty and not look horrible. Easy to keep clean. I’ve found the dirtier it gets, the more matte appearance it is. Clean makes it shinier if this makes sense.
Sweet looking truck. I wonder, though it looks good imo, does the non functioning just for looks hood scoop decrease the fuel mileage?
You kidding me? That non-functional hood scoop adds at least 20hp! Lol. All kidding aside, I personally don’t think it would affect mileage to a point you would notice. I’m curious about the lower front bumper wind diffuser on sport models if that affects mileage much. Not a fan of it looks wise. Think I’m going to remove it.
what brand is your tonneau cover? how much was it? buying the exact same truck in march. same color and everything. love it!
It’s a Tyger Auto T1 soft roll up cover. It was $189 at the time on Amazon. It’s been a great cover. I’ve been happy with the truck and cover. The cover is water proof but the bed is not 100%. You may want to add extra weatherproofing to the corner areas. The top of the bed walls in the rear where it meets the corners, is a decent size gap. I had water intrusion there but went away when I filled it in. Good luck with the truck!
Back flp best bed cover for 3 Gen Tacoma better and faster than a soft cover full access to the bed also no problem.
Back flips are nice too! I forgot to mention in the video that hard covers usually flip completely back against the rear window and usually have a prop rod to hold it there. I don’t like covering my rear window but that’s me. Offers better security too and durability. Can’t argue that. Is yours like that as well?

Could you tell me the LED bulbs you replace for the highbeams, headlights and foglights? 2023 Taco TRD Sport in Lunar Rock arriving in 2 months.
I got them on Amazon. This one style bulb worked for all three areas which was convenient. This march makes 1 yr with them and have had no issues. They are very bright and even light.

Thanks man. It was a 2015 Camry SE with 105k on it and got $11k for it. It helps if you have a paper offer for the trade for negotiation. I got an offer from car max and used that during bargaining. They were initially $2k below that but quickly matched once I showed them the offer. Good luck!

After owning the Tacoma for several months, do you find yourself wanting the longer bed?
I haven’t reached a scenario where I have. For me, I don’t like the proportions on the long bed, truck just looks too long and narrow. Plus it wouldn’t fit in my smallish garage. I do have a utility trailer so any long items I could use that. It’s not a work truck for me but if I did use it a lot in that regards, I could see the appeal.
I also like wind chill pearl, try to make up my mind, anyone has second thought?
You can’t go wrong with any color I don’t think. I tend to see more lunar rocks in my area. Wind chill pearl is rarer.
LED headlights ?
This particular model came with halogens stock. Toyota does offer an LED headlight upgrade package but I believe it was around $1200. I installed after market LED bulbs that work well.

Remote start ?
It had the stock remote start from Toyota as long as you are subscribed to their remote connect app. Toyota’s stock remote system is garbage 🗑️. It will remote start the truck but as soon as you open any door the truck turns off. Pretty dumb and useless imho.
Nearly sent me packing after sitting through the most annoying sound track to open a video ever recorded.
