I took a screenshot of Brennan's face, a couple episodes ago, when the party was attempting to hash out exactly what was going on-- He had the CRAZIEST smile on his face; He freakin loves watching them get into his story and try to put together all the clues and twists and turns he is throwing out the whole time. love that gorgug's parents are so overpowered that brennan had to create an entire army just to keep them from destroying the whole campaign
i suspect he had to come up with a justification for them getting away completely scot-free since they got the best roll, and still have a reasonable reason to keep them out of the way of the main fight since absolutely NO ONE wants to see them get hurt in combat for real😭 also thats a lot of npcs lol

God Emily/Fig getting genuinely teary eyed and emotional over her mom nearly dying after the two of them having such turmoil over the entirety of the campaign was so amazing

Johnny spells sold his soul to Gorthalax to get sorcery powers, which he then used to get involved with the palimpsests. The "no fuck" thing seems to have been for Gorthalax's personal amusement, since part of the deal of selling your soul is you have to give up something in your life. Bro that's so fucking galaxy brain omg
Also he has a tail dragon borns don't have tails
Joseph Delahunty Not exactly. They’re not really descendants of dragons, they were originally created by the draconic gods to be servants for dragons. They were made from dragon eggs tho, so they’re sort of artificial descendants I guess?
@@ToadSageSannin also there from a different dimension where the primordials won the war with the gods so the dragon empire never collapse
As far as I know Toad that's 4E lore stuff. In 5E you literally pick your flavour out of the typical chromatic and metallic dragons. Dragonborn were simply called half-dragons in 3E and it took a template instead of a typical stat block. On top of that Draconians from the Dragonlance setting have their own sidebar.
Edit: On top of all that Arthur Aguefort effectively polymorphed him into a Dragonborn. So the tail thing is largely inconsequential. I tend to imagine my Dragonborn PCs as having a tail. The OPs assertion that a horde of gold has much more relevance to full on dragons carries far more weight.
I love Emily’s face when she realizes Galier and Gorthalax never came to see her that is GENUINE HURT
1:28:32 major props to fig's mom she just woke up from being unconscious, grabbed a bow, and shot two people without a second thought, coughed a bit then turned to her seemingly uninjured daughter and immediately jumped to "are you okay?" despite having literally just been unconscious. I hope she isn't a villainy character or something later because that would be super sad
"Seemingly uninjured daughter" Fig *did* have to give up half her hitpoints and a good number of spells to get to that point, so it's safe to say she was pretty injured. Either Emily forgot about that, or, as Fig, was trying to play it down when she said she was fine.

Can we talk about Brennan’s SMUG SMILE during the elven oracle scene?? He’s been planning this from the start and you can just see how proud he is :)
I love that moment. I laughed sO hard in the replay. He enjoyed their "wtf" faces so much. :D
But didn’t he say that the Oracle died august 31st but the ship sank September 1st ? So does that mean the Oracle died before the ship sank
@@martianhobo The news article about the oracle, was september first
@@tigamaki1345 agh okay

Adaine being the Elven Oracle is so iconic. I hope we get to see her doing some glowing prophecy before the series ends. Also hope she becomes a renowned public figure so she can shove it in Aelwyn's face.
Have you seen Fantasy High Live: Sophomore Year yet?
@@somefishhere Most of it :) I'm about 10 episodes in on DropOut. It's amazing.
Aaaaah oh no I’m so behind! I’m in the middle of 15 right now. This show is so amazing. Have you seen any of the side quests? Should I watch those or Live next?
1:34:52
The real reaction Siobhan had to the thistle springs gets me every time because they are the family that Adaine wanted and needed and she adores them
i definitely believe siobhan fully would have cried if something bad had happened to them (i mean me too but)
omg thanks for pointing that out, i hadn't noticed myself :'(
This episode was a cinematic masterpiece. Spoilers for the end of the episode:
The death of Bill Seacaster is absolutely legendary and the combined improvised effort of Lou and Brennan is unstoppably incredible. I cried so much it was so beautiful.
It also got me 😭😭
Holy Jesus Christ.. the absolute RELIEF of finding Riz's mom alive.. I had chills man.. unending nerves this episode..
And Gorgug’s parents, RELIEF TIMES INFINITY.
and gilear surviving, like, thank god
I was so ready to be streaming tears by the end of this episode and by God did I come close.
@@logosrule same if gorgug’s parents died I would have turned into a walking flood warning
@@broadbunny5472 If Gorgu's parents died, I would have hunted Brennan down and given him a piece of my mind.
The sadness in Fabians voice as he tells the hangman to spy on his father is criminally underated rollplay moment. The feeling of sadness and disappointment Fabian has about the possibility his father, his idol is actually his enemy is so heavy
Anyone has the timestamp for this? I can't find it

Gorguks mom and dad not only being the safest, but also the most narratively terrifying parents just from how terrifyingly capable they are with how astonishingly positive they are, explains why Gorguk is the most combat capable member of the group every encounter.
this is the first time i've cried during this series. bill's death was genuinely heartbreaking. we watch everybody else's families survive, only for fabian's to be saved for last. he rushes to save his mother because he knows his father can handle himself and would want him to go to her. he loses an eye just like bill. he tries to get to his father and fails and when he does manage to get to him, he's dying, and that smile on lou's face is most certainly him realizing that yes, william seacaster, father of fabian seacaster, is going to die. there's no goodbye, there's just jovial conversation, recognition, and bill going out in a fantastic blaze of glory. an epic closing shot with all the gusto and theatrics the seacaster family deserves. and all of this preceded by a heartfelt message from fabian's dad before he finds him bleeding out... so powerful. they all did such a great job with this series, the characters are amazing and the plot is so compelling, so enthralling. 👏😭
I literally can't believe how amazing of a DM Brennan is.
Seacaster Manor was just so incredibly brilliant, he knew exactly how to play out the scene even though the circumstances were decided by several dice rolls and Lou's decision
I love the jail break. I just love it😆😂
I’m lovin Lou’s soft math professor look
me too sis
Edit: This sounds thirstier than I intended, I, too, look like a soft math professo
Lou's almost heart attacks reaches my soul
He looks a little bit like Daveed Diggs not gonna lie
yaaaaas im living for it! 😍
I literally spent 5 minutes trying to remember if there was a character named Lou before I recalled it was Fabiens player. Fuck man I think I get too involved, I forgot the players in favor of their characters
I dont think I've ever cried over fake parents since I was 12. RIP the best captain to ever live, Sir Seacaster
i cried so hard during fig and fabian’s turns. shit was raw
I am so pleased at how Bill Seacaster just fully rolled with Gorgug's guess; that was hilarious lmao
I love the fact that bill seacaster didn’t deny it was all ‘there is a possibility!’
E
When bill seacaster rolls a nat 1 on his insight checks he goes "am i this persons dad?"
Last episode, I realized The Hangman was my favorite character here. I've changed my mind.
You know you are a good GM/DM when you make one of your players cry.
Also, Brennan, you should either write a full public campaign or a fantasy genre book.
I’d love to see either of those
didn't he wrote a fantasy comic with Molly Ostertag?
@@carolkoski4875 yes! strong female protagonist! it's excellent (but on hiatus indefinitely)
His mom writes fantasy adventure books if I remember correctly
@@matthewoconnor9513 You're right! He mentioned that on the Newcomers podcast! And probably elsewhere of course bc that was recent but that was the first point of me being introduced to him.
"Leave it to Bill seacaster to sire twins in the wombs of 2 separate woman" fuckin got me 32:24
I love that Adaine's response to the first threat just being "burn down my house I don't care!"
Bill Seacaster's death was the first time I have ever started laughing and crying at the same time. Not laughing so hard I cried, literally laughing but also crying. I've never felt so alive.
Never has their been a more glorious death.
We should all strive to end our lives screaming, "I SHALL LEAP INTO HELL AND KILL THE DEVIL HIMSELF!"
thats d&d, baby
I hate my self for reading comments while I watch as ruined this myself worse thing is I was like 5 mins of the scene when it happens when I read this
BILL SEACASTERS WHAT
i remember my first time, also dnd related. without any spoilers, all i will say is magnus burnsides, episode 69 of taz balance
Lou's heartfelt, verging on panic attack, reactions to the unfolding family scenes honestly made me fall a wee bit in love with him.
I think I did too because it was like mutual anxiety
I love the way Ally acted like Kristen was just talking to herself and muttering in between all of the action before the speech ended lol
Hot damn, I've long been spoiled about Goldenhoard's villain turn, but the fact that I'm this deep into the season and Brennan has kept him as a largely sympathetic figure is amazing to me
from the later clips i've seen i thought that aguefort was going to turn out the not-actually-dead bad guy and goldenhoard was going to help them against him. the moment of "holy shit" i had at that revelation was insane
Bill Seacaster is _so_ hardcore. One of _the_ best deaths I've seen.
Also, Gorgug's parents are just as hardcore.
The way this was phrased, I thought Gorgug was going to find his parents dead at the tree and I couldn’t do it.
Whoops! Sorry 'bout that. I'll just rephrase that better.
during the last part with all the families, i've never been more stressed out by the sound of rolling dice. i love all these characters, why are you so awesome at this Brennan?
The best part of this series by far ofc
Omg hey Adri!
Like holy hell that was tense
I'm so glad they all rolled for advantage. they didn't even stop to think about it
@@somefishhere Well, not all of them took the deal...
the soft but pained “don’t fucking do this” as Lou, not even Fabian at this point, realises Gorgug is 100% about to think Bill is his dad sent me
I was ugly crying before Fabian even reached his father and I really wanted to scream "You're rich, you gotta have a health potion lying around!". Amazing episode. My heart needs mending.
They were probably all used by that point.
I’ll cast a “Mass Heal” spell for your heart
"He could have survived!" "He wouldn't have wanted to survive."
That second sentence perfectly encapsulates Bill Seacaster. It's better to live one day as a lion than a lifetime as a sheep.
That's poetry
Fabian said that without missing a beat too
"You always gotta be kind, you always gotta try your best, and there is no sense in being a ****ing pushover."
Savagely wise words. Hilarious and yet absolutely true.
I absolutely adore Gorgug's parents. They speak to me on a personal level.
My absolute favorite line in this series is “If you come to the tree you better be ready to never fucking leave!”
"Papa you can do anything but you can't do that" had me ROLLIN
You can see how emotional everyone got during the other families scenes... I swear they were all gonna cry when it was framed as if Gorgug's family didn't make it. I almost cried to!
Especially if they’re doing this every week, so this is well over 4 months of playing. I honestly hope my next campaign is this moving and interactive
Gorgug’s parent being simultaneously the most chill and most badass ppl in this entire universe made my day!
Same!!!!
god I love acab postal worker dad so freaking much, hes probably my favorite npc, and the quote “‘you guys wanna make some bacon?’ and he pulls out a lit molotov cocktail out of his mail bag’” is so metal
he's my comfort character lmao
@@alastorbutwithagun its sad how relevant he still is, but god him and his family are fucking awesome and deserve everything
I really hope their children grow up to be like them.
Oh yeah, by far the best one-liner in the series so far (and there have been many fantastic one-liners)!
1:36:32 ~ "Might be small, and we're real nice. Try to be king to everybody. But if you come to the Tree, you better be ready to never F__king Leave. You understand me!" ...
I absolutely Love this line.
The halfling postman and his nonchalant "down with the system.... anarchy shall prevail" counter-culture attitude is AMAZING! Definitely my favorite NPC of this campaign.
I can't believe a series where an emo half-orc thinks he's his own dad is about to make me cry
Well when you put it that way 😆
I've watched this series at least 5 times, and _still_ feel like Bill Seacaster's "Nobody surprises me with information _I_ wasn't expecting" is *supremely* underrated.
arguably the best npc in the campaign... but then there are so many fucking great npcs
I love bill seacaster so much 😂😂
Am I crying over the loss of Captain Seacaster? Yes, and I am not ashamed. But it *was* beautiful and poetic.
Bill Seacaster went from "I don't know WHAT you're the captain of..." to "You don't command their fear.... You command their respect." GOOSEBUMPS BROS
ok so Brennan def made the prizes magic AFTER everyone spent like three turns perceiving and investigating them right
Oh definitely, I've done the same thing ngl
maybe, but didnt he have the papers??
