    The "bald cap" is a skin colored bandage for a head injury. You're not allowed to be on the field of play if you're bleeded, but to make a neat bandage on the head takes time and the team is a player short until it's done, so they tend to be sloppy and excessive.

      'don't actually "forget" where they bury things. ' Yes, they do. They bury caches at a rate well above what they need for the winter. The reality is they probably don't remember most of them specifically much at all, only areas and relocate them by smell.
      On the high abundance acorn years about every 5 years, they bury way way more than they need. Squirrels are actually part of the propagation of oak trees, and they are the reason the trees evolved the 5 year high acorn output cycle in the first place. Look it up it's actually very interesting. 5 years means it only happens about once each squirrel's lifetime, so the squirrel population doesn't grow too large for the lower years. But that high year does way more than they can handle, guaranteeing they spread the seeds and make more extra trees.
      Oak trees in an area actually chemically communicate, so they all get on the same cycle, which is better than if different trees were doing more in different years.

    The main reason wild animals don't have rotting teeth is because of their natural diet, they don't really eat any sugars or carbohydrates (which are needed to form plaque to create cavities). Even if they do form some plaque, eating and chewing on stuff naturally cleans plaque off of their teeth (they "clean" their teeth more frequently than humans). The rate of cavities humans get is increased tenfold purely because of our diets. If we never ate sugars or carbohydrates, we would almost never need to brush our teeth (I say "almost never" because humans have pretty weak enamel, and we live for about a century, so there's a lot of time for a cavity to form from the smallest amount of plaque).
    The other reason is that the lifespan of most animals isn't exactly long. Considering they ingest minimal to no sugar or carbohydrates, and they naturally clean plaque off of their teeth, most animals will never live long enough to even give a cavity the chance to develop from the little amount of plaque on the animal's teeth.

      Eleven years ago I gave up tooth paste (not just fluoride, but all toothpaste), and cut back on the frequency of brushing. I also reduced my sugar intake by about 50% not long after, but I'm far from a sugar/carb-free diet. Last month I had my first dental checkup in just under 10 years (I was kind of broke for a while) - and I had not even the beginnings of a cavity. There was some light plaque near the base of my teeth, and nothing else.
      I brush 2-3 times per week and use Listerine about 4-5 times (I'm not prone to bad breath even when eating onions, garlic, etc.). In the decade before I dropped toothpaste, I had about a dozen cavities filled, as well as a root canal. I'm now convinced I could have done without all dental procedures as an adult except for the removal of my wisdom teeth, if on'y I'd never used fluoride.

      Plenty of other animals eat sugars and carbohydrates. Some animals live for decades so that's plenty of time for a cavity to develop. I think you should do some more research and try again.

      One of the neat things about dental disease such as cavities is that it's one of the limited number of disease types that can be directly observed in skeletal remains, which means it's possible to plot the history of it in humans with some amount of accuracy, and evidence of dental disease in human remains shows up around the same time as corn agriculture, which marked a dramatic change in the amount of carb-rich foods in the typical diet. I don't have a source on this but I was told by my anthropology professor, who specialized in paleo-osteological epidemiology (don't know if that's really what it's called, but she studied disease in old bones,) so of anyone, she would know.

      @@StephenJohnson-jb7xe There is a difference between a deer eating a few apples every fall and a human who eats cereal, various cakes/ cookies, sugary coffee and soft drinks and alcohol (more carbs) every day. Also, a lot of animals that do eat quite a bit of carbs, like rodents, constantly maintain their teeth by chewing. Their teeth also constantly grow and are renewed. In addition to sugars and carbs, we also consume a lot of acidic drinks and foods that also damage our enamel on top of the critters we grow on our teeth.
      Animals still get tooth related issues like cavities though. They just don't go through a case of Mt. Dew a week like a lot of humans do.

      Animals do have "the slightest infections" all the time.
      But the lifespan of animals is indeed a major factor on why dental problems are rare among them.
      Other big reason is that the teeth just might work differently - rodents, for example, need to be constantly grinding down their teeth or they would grow too big. Doing that as a human would be bad.

    7:58 You actually got it. It may be simpler to understand this way: we normally count from 0 to 9 (which is called base 10) and then you move the 1 to the left and add a zero to the right to get 10. In binary you do the same thing but you move the 1 to the left when it reaches 2 (base 2) 0 to 1 and then you move the 1 to the left and add a zero to the right. So if you count to in binary it goes:
    0, 1, 10, 11, 100, 101, 110, 111, 1000, 1001, 1010, 1011, 1100, 1101, 1110, 1111. so 2 is 10 (one zero) in binary.

    For those curious-minded, in decimal system which is also called base 10, digits roll over after 9.
    So our decimal system goes like this: 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10.
    But no one says that your system HAS to hold 0-9 in the first digit. If say humans hadn't invented the symbols from 5 to 9, then we'd have to roll over digits after 4, i.e a base 5 system.
    Here, digits would go like: 0 (zero),1 (one), 2 (two),3 (three),4 (four),10 (five),11 (six).
    which still mean the same thing. 11 in base 5 is the same as 6 in base 10.
    Similarly in base 2 (binary), we only have two digits - 0 and 1. After this, we have to roll over into the next column. So, the counting goes like: 0 (zero), 1 (one), 10 (two), 11 (three), 100 (four), 101 (five), 110 (six), 111 (seven), 1000 (eight), 1001 (nine), 1010 (ten). This is also how numbers are stored in your computer.

      BONUS: What if humans had invented more digits than 0-9? We could fit even more numbers in the digits! There's a common number system that does that, called hexadecimal system (base 16). In this, the first digit can house a total of 16 numbers!
      In this system, we have A for 10, B for 11, C for 12, D for 13, E for 14 and F for 15 and after that we roll over.
      0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, A (ten), B, C, D, E, F (fifteen), 10 (sixteen), 11, 12, .., 19, 1A (twenty six), 1B, ..., 1F, 20, ....

    12:18 the reason we have to worry about dental care is mainly due to our diet. The high acids and the refined sugars are the main things that cause plaque and eventually cavities (think about that gross feeling of your teeth after drinking lemonade). Because animals don't eat shit like this their teeth are already cleaner, plus their diets tend to be fairly rich in fiber which actually helps to clean their teeth while they chew. And even with all that they still clean their teeth. Some animals chew on sticks or bone to clean their teeth, or other animals have other animals do it for them, like crocodiles with small birds or certain fish with smaller fish and shrimp which eat the leftover bacteria that resides on the teeth after meals. Also some animals do get rotting teeth, like sometimes animals will eat plants or meat which can get caught in the teeth and eventually rot, but it's not the teeth itself that rots and kills them, it's that the bacteria from the rotted plant/meat enters the mouth and kills them that way.

      Even more, in the past us humans too didn't need to care as much about dental care: someone from like 2000 years ago would have better teeth than the average modern person, despite probably never brushing them, simply because of the different diet; just think how the highest source of sugar available were merely fruits or honey.

      there are a surprising number of different can opener designs that i wouldnt expect everyone to know how to use all of them in an instant. however, if it takes you more than a few seconds to figure it out, you got problems. (and i say this as a left hander where a large number of them arent even designed to work for me in the first place).

      I hadn't used a can opener before, and just a couple weeks ago i used funny enough the exact model in the video to open a can.
      And let me tell you, the shape language of that can opener is so weird. It had like 5 different pointy bits i thought you used to make the hole with so it ended up with me standing there for 5 minutes bashing the fucking can with one of the 5 different pointy bits until i realized you could hold it horizontally as well to clamp down.
      I felt like more of a disappointment than usual then, but then i realized that the same age old people used to sit on playgrounds eating sand kids are now solving logic puzzles and other stuff on their phones. Just because i've never used an antiquated piece of technology don't mean i'm stupid.

    The decimal/binary item. 10 is 2 in Binary because...viewing Binary numbers as a series of switches...from the right is 1 and each one left is double the last on..and each are expressed as 1 (on) or 0 (0).....so as an example 6 number switches are 32=16=8=4=2=1...in the instance of 10 = 2...the two switches are the 2 is on and the 1 is off...thus 1 0 is 2 + 0

    Obligatory german weighing in on Henry´s observation about german online behaivor: In germany we have noticed this as well and we even have multiple turn of phrases to express this. One of my favorites is: „Ein Volk, ein Reich, ein Kommentarbereich“ wich rhymes and translates roughly to „One people, one empire, one comment section“ and is a humorous reference to how the german tendency to occupy online spaces is reminiscent of germanies actual tendency to occupy real spaces. Like Poland. Or beach loungers.

    How to explain binary without making things more confusing. Decimal (deca = 10) 0cto or base 8 = 8 binary = 2 (these are just examples). with Decimal. you count to 9. One before 10, then you get a double digit number ex (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10). Base 8 you count to 7 then get a double digit number. ex (1,2,3,4,5,6,7, 10). Same for binary. but binary is special for computers. 0 = no and 1 = yes etc. so it would go as follows. (1,10,11,100,101,110,111 etc) = (1,2,3,4,5,6,7) which also equates to 2^x for each leading number hence why ram and hardrives are following the same pattern 1,2,4,8,16,32 etc(2^x). there is more, but hopefully if you see that joke again, it will be funnier...ok maybe not, just funny for us nerds :P. love you guys!

    Got a friend that is a university professor in the Philippines, when they had to do online classes this last year it was very difficult because of the internet connection not only for them but also what most of the students had. The whole situation made teaching far more difficult for everyone.

    Humans tend to use decimal (base 10) for our number system. That is, each symbol can be one of 10 values: 0 through 9. Ten fingers, base ten, makes sense. Binary is base 2 and is used by the vast majority of computers since each symbol can only be one of two values: 0 (off) or 1 (on). This also has really cool ramifications, but in essence, the meme was just a "there are 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary and those who don't".     I've fallen asleep doing one of those at least once before lol. You can fall asleep without a blanket as long as you're warm enough (aka hoodie etc), you can fall asleep naked if you're tired enough lmao, and you can fall asleep listening to music if you're in a noisy environment (used to sleep on a bus with earbuds in xD). IT MAY BE POSSIBLE TO DO ALL 3, BUT THAT IS A REALM I HAVE YET TO ACHIEVE!

      @@seifukunokamisama2197 Our Spiders, for the most part, are fairly harmless. You can get a nasty wound from a white tail or a cigar spider, even a wolf spider has a bit of a sting to it, but the most common "deadly" spider is a redback.
      It's related to a black widow but is considered not quite as dangerous. It's also very timid and you only find it outdoors. Basically, check your shoes if you've left them outside and you're good to go. The only seriously nasty spider we have is the funnel web spider. Stay away from Sydney and you'll be fine. Why anyone would want to go there is beyond me anyway.

    My favorite can opener is this one kind that breaks the seal of the can so you can take the lid off without making sharp edges to get cut on. A secondary benefit of those is you can put the lid back on the can.

    Regarding animal teeth, I read in Science Illustrated back in the 00's that our teeth have been worsened by cooking. It increases the calorific content of the food and makes it easier to chew, but this also means that the evolutionary advantage of having good teeth is lessened in humans, meaning that those genes could get passed on.
    Regarding why animals don't have tooth-rot, there are several factors:
    - The ones that do have tooth rot can't eat, so they die. Pretty hefty selection towards good teeth right there.
    - Some animals don't live long enough in the wild to get bad teeth.
    - Diet: They don't consume sugary drinks for instance, meaning that their mouth-bacteria aren't constantly fed refined sugar like ours are.
    - Herbivores chew their (very fibrous) food a lot, meaning that it kind of acts like a toothbrush/floss.
    - Crocodiles have birds clean their teeth.
    - Some of the predators eating bones have the splinters work as toothpicks.
    - Some animals grow new teeth and shed the old ones, some, like rats, have the same teeth grow their entire lives but what they eat just kind of files down the teeth (which is why sometimes the teeth of rodents grow into their brains).
    - Some animals have PH-values that are alkaline which neutralize the acids that screw up your teeth.

    12:18 happens all the time actually, male Lions for example have horrible dental habits because they will full force bite into something with little regard for their teeth, this includes bone from a carcass, this can cause chipping with leads to decay and rot of the root, which of course causes tooth aches, and lions can get awfully moody with a tooth ache.
    And as for domesticated animals, I've got a 16 year old cat and dog who've both had to have teeth removed because they were rotting and causing them pain, they both eat dry food, the doggo has chewie treats pretty regularly to help maintain her teeth, and we have greenie dental hygiene treats for the cat.
