If you wait long enough it does spoil, it's just u usually eat it before it does. I had lost my island and when I returned after making a second base on a different island I found my all my smoked goods were spoiled.

That is very clever! I got to the point where you learn how to drink and eat the coconuts and then then take a few steamed peaces of meat with and a water skin for water :) it allows me to bring more loot home.

Pro tip: if you want to maximize your campfire build a hobo stove and on top of it build a smoker. This will give you shittone of cooked meat you can stack yourself for the rest of your survival plus hobo stove doesn't have a limit on how many goods you can cook so as long as they are on surface it's going to cook most likely.

I have one solution.. You can skin it when you want to eat it.. so you have to skin it and cook it before you starve, that way you won't run out of spoiled meat for nothing..
