    This time on the AutoEdits Jeep Wrangler Rubicon project, I install the PSC cylinder assist steering upgrade from start to finish and take the Jeep on a test drive for some mall crawling.
    Hunker in for a very in depth How To do it yourself installation video for the average mechanic.
    Here is a link to the Adventure Steering Kit I mention in the video for the general weekend warrior type Jeeper without hydro assist...

    Howdy folks! Thanks so much for watching ... all the links you need to do some research on the kits I reference are in the description but I also want to make sure you remember the AutoEdits Amazon store ... where you can get the Bones gloves like I use in the video and any purchases you make from starting at the storefront help support the channel! So thanks! www.amazon.com/shop/autoedits

      Is this better than a steering stabilizer

    • @AutoEdits
      @AutoEdits  Před 4 měsíci

      Totally different. This is a steering assist ram and the other is simply a dampener on the steering arm. I appreciate the assist on tight trails and rocks but for most stuff a stabilizer is fine... I liked my Icon one.@@Bohemianbiker1k

    I'm one of those guys that's been pushing you to do this and I'm stoked that you're happy with it. I can't wait until you get out in the rocks, with your front locker engaged and the spotters yelling "Driver!" and you can actually do it woth ease. Your joy will be immense at that point. As I've said before, once you go 37s and actually wheel your Jeep, this is absolutely the best upgrade you can do.

    One thing you should do when installing the ram bracket is to tack weld, then go through cycling your steering at full droop and compression. When you weld it in place, it is a lot more work to move it if there is interference. Your install looked fairly straight forward, my front G2 axle had a lot of congestion in the area of the mounting bracket. I ended up letting a fab shop locate the bracket and it still took him 2 hours to find the right spot.

I don't remember what upgrades you've done to your axles. I've watched a brake upgrade video of yours but I'm not sure if it was on this jeep. I was not considering Reid knuckles until I watched this video. What height is your lift? Metal Cloak? What steering components i.e. tie rod, drag link and trac bar are you running? Nice explanation in the video BTW, knuckle dragger! You got me so pumped up watching this video I think I'll jump on over to your Amazon page and buy something to support you. Those single shear clamps are known for breaking/ and coming loose especially under heavy loads like turning hard while crawling pinched up next to a rock etc . There relatively cheap and also an insurance to not be left stranded or carry a spare single shear

    Have a question for you. After ensuring all the air is out of the system, and going through that process, looking into the resevior, I don't see the fluid circulating while it's idling. The lines are warm, not the cylinder lines though. I haven't taken it for a long drive yet though, just idling in the driveway. The fluid level is just above the filter bolt and remains there. Sound normal to ytou ? Great vid, and just in time for my install. Thanks a bunch.

    • @AutoEdits
      @AutoEdits  Před 2 lety

      That's perfect! A great test for any final air in the system is to have someone start it while you look into the reservoir and if the fluid level goes down quite a bit... there's still some air to deal with. Otherwise an uneventful resi... is a happy resi.

      @@AutoEdits cool... I currently have hoses routed under the trackbar and I noticed that the trackbar has the tendency to pull the hoses towards the differential cover.. and then the hoses get pinched between the differential cover and the tie rod bar.. not a good thing to see! I also observed a similar situation with the PSC install on a Gladiator performed by the Northridge4x4 channel... at the very end of the video while offroading and steering lock to lock you briefly see it happening ... I will play with mine but probably reroute it over the track bar the same way you did... BTW.. good job on fabricating/welding the mounts to the track bar bracket..
