Casting Assad as Armand was genius because he has those big, doe eyes that look so innocent. In the books, Armand is described as having the face of an angel which belies his sinister, devilish nature.

TRUE! I didn't think of that! Probably not, but maybe in some weird, twisted way Armand "turning" Daniel WAS a reward. Remember how Armand said just THE THOUGHT of turnin a mortal into a fledgling turns his stomach & that's 1 of the reasons he wouldn't turn Madeleine 👩🏻🦰 because of it (THAT & the fact he wanted to spite Claudia 👧🏾)? Well, the fact he broke his own code of ✌🏾ethics✌🏾 to turn Daniel shows JUST how spiteful he is, AAAAND maaaybe on a level, Armand had to bow in awe (and shame 🤦🏾) at how Daniel bested him cuz you can tell by Armand's look when Daniel supposedly "concluded" the interview that he thought he had fooled both Louis (AGAIN 🙄) & finally Daniel after Daniel had busted him several times before, but had yet not gotten to his BIG secret of having been in on Claudia (and what was supposed to have been Louis') execution from start 2 finish. The ONLY kind of person an individual like Armand could possibly respect is someone who can beat him at his own game ♟. Cuz if Armand's intent was to hurt Daniel & Louis by turning Daniel --- it was a very GROSS miscalculation cuz even though Daniel didn't want the "dark gift 🩸" at that point in his life, he still took to vampirism like a natural, was healed of his end-stage Parkinson's, & became seriously rich overnight thanks to the book 📖 Armand tried SO hard to control the narrative of. Not to mention, being Daniel is Armand's 1st & ONLY fledgling (even in the books) & give the fact Armand is 500yrs old at this point, Daniel is probably 2x stronger than Lestat was when Lestat was created as Lestat's maker, Magnus, was only a mere 300 yrs. old when he "made" Lestat. If there's any credo Armand follows ---- if anything @ all --- it's "Power respects 🤜🏻💥🤛🏾 POWER!"

The Loustat reunion scene is HEART-WRENCHING
Made me cry. Only the second time I have cried while watching a show. The first time was when I was 8 years old seeing E.T. for the first time. Now I'm 51 years old NOW... crying at that end scene with Lestat. EMMY !!! EMMY AWARDS ARE DUE FOR THESE ACTORS.

Small detail that I haven't seen mentioned - Louis's clothes change from the last shot of him on the voodoo tour to the scene when he reunites with Lestat. I think he followed the millenial vampire to the house the first night and just watched/confirmed that Lestat was there, and then probably thought (hard) about whether he wanted to see Lestat. Reflected. Then, the next night he came back (in different clothes) and actually walked in. During the voodoo tour the storm was in the distance, and on the reunion night the storm was upon them, which also indicates a day or some hours have passed. Louis probably went back to the hotel that first night and had a heart-to=heart with himself. Which is realistic, and quite moving.
Now we know why Raglan was warning Daniel about Louis and not Armand! Sam was like “this bitch is insane! He burned the whole coven down!”

I don’t claim credit for noticing this as I saw the comment elsewhere BUT the robe Lestat wears is the same robe he wore in s1e1. He wears it after the first night he and Louis spend together. He stayed in New Orleans…in the aged, dirty robe connected to a good memory of Louis. 😭

Autumn, you are 100% right about Armand. He is a lost, broken little man. He is an opportunist who is a passive-aggressive "follower." He has no sense of self. He wants what others have. I saw this in the books , but the series flushed him out.
The music : OMG, the soundtrack is splendid.

The transition to the news broadcast was so jarring, but I kinda love it. Daniel is such a little punk that I was laughing through my continuing Loustat reunion tears

The show IS called INTERVIEW with the VAMPIRE, Daniel needs to interview a NEW VAMPIRE for his sequel book... What if that new vampire interview is with Lestat? And we get a loooot of interview scenes between Daniel/Eric and Lestat/Sam, just like we got in these first 2 seasons between Daniel/Eric and Louis/Jacob, culminating with Daniel Malloys' 2nd/follow up book THE VAMPIRE LESTAT? Hmm... I see that!!

For all the absolutely knock out moments of this ep, and the top to bottom perfection of the reunion, there is a moment just after Lastat tells siri to stop, louis steps forward just a bit and Lastat acts like he is actually bracing for something. Unsure if he can handle whatever louis is about to say . So subtle but he even pulls the fake wood keyboard in front of him like a shield almost. Break.my.heart. these two... acting genius.

The first time we hear THAT song it literally took my breath away, my brain latched onto it and it haunted me, wouldn't leave my mind, so to not only use it in that scene but to end the season with it? I will never recover... I too want some of what Mr. Hart puts on his cereal if only to see the world the way he perceives it for a bit, what a gift. Autumn I have watched that the reunion scene many times now and it still makes bawl my eyes out. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a scene between two men like that on film. It’s truly remarkable.
Great video, Autumn! After watching the ATX interview with Rolin and Assad, someone asked about Devil's Minion. He joked telling him in response to slow down! That's not for another couple of books. Rolin mentioned that he wants to be the showrunner for 7-8 seasons. We need to champion this show so we can see that.
I'm planning to rewatch the show from the beginning in anticipation for the 3rd season.

A loss of a child a parent never gets over but with the passage of time they move forward in their journey of healing ... together. An unfortunate stat but parents who lose a child a majority of them will divorce afterward so this was nice to see.
Louis at the end is basically pulling the Iron Man move like "I'm right here. Bring it on." But with season 3 following Lestat, I don't see Louis being alone on the Bloodhunt list.

The reunion really got to me, I hadn't cried up until that point and had mentally congratulated myself on doing so well. Little did I know my heart was about to be ripped out of my chest and set on fire. Also the all black outfit was a slay 10/10 no notes.

I watched this episode 5 times now and I can't keep myself from crying. I don't know what happened in my heart I keep thinking about lestat 😭😭 . My French heart is melting
just went back and rewatched ep 7 and there's a part right before Claudia and Madeline are burned around the 47 min mark where we can see lestat swaying and looking off into the distance somewhat robotically? I think after lestat had the audience sentence louis to "banishment" all the coven vampires mind tortured him like they were doing claudia and louis to keep him from interfering in the trail anymore
I cried watching Episode 8 at the SAME SCENE!!! of Louis & Lestat reuniting and when they were crying. Sam and Jacob got me in tears!!!!

That Hurricane at the end was a symbol of Louie and Lestat's relationship since they met; first, I feel this show should get more praise; second, I would've liked to see Louie have bigger fight scenes with Santiago and Armand. There should've been more to them than what we got; Third, does anybody else think so too?

In my opinion he did help save Louis. I think he knew that Lestat was going to do it. And helped do the rest by getting him out of the wall whether the coffins were kept after the coven thought he wasn’t going to do anything. He would have starved and Lestats help would have been moot. How do we know that the narrative we’re being fed is the truth? Each character perspective tells a different version of the truth,, the show tries to paint a different narrative. We never see his perspective fully There’s been multiple times where we thought we knew everything when we really didn’t. He literally said I gave you to Armand I feel whether it’s true or not. He knew that Lestat was gonna save him or he would’ve helped or intervened. I think Lestat made a deal with the coven. he wanted Louis to live regardless of whether he could be with him anymore. That’s love. Armand tried to warn them multiple times to leave Paris. In an interview with Assad he said the only thing he ever lied about was the stuff about the trial and after because of Lestat not exposing him he was forced to keep up the lie. Which implies not harming him, but failing him was because he knew Lestat would save Louis. He only directed the play he didn’t write the play. And in the article he said he was forced by the coven to do it. Armand can’t be alone he always has to have someone in his life, regardless of whether the relationship is loving or not. It’s all he’s known his entire life.

The thing that made this season brilliant for me is that they perfectly captured Armand as the "I need love" vampire, while ending with him being the master manipulator of the book.

It's the fact that Louis got with Armand for 77 years just to spite Lestat for me. He is the level of petty that I aspire to be. Now Armand's reaction to Louis thank you kiss in 2x01 makes sense to me, he's been dying for some affection, some real affection for a long time probably. I don't blame him, it's Louis.
The Loustat reuion was awesome! It took them awhile but we got to the reconciliation part! I was disappointed that Louis returned to Dubai alone (so it seems) but I understand why he'd want to be alone for awhile and they have the rest of their lives to be sickeningly in love, so what's a few more years to wait or whatever.
Thank you for the videos, and the laughs. They have helped me through some rough times recently, so I appreciate it. They were a nice distraction. 🏁❤

I was thinking, as someone who has not read the books, I've just seen the films, that one of the tie-ins / problems that Louis and Lestat will have in season 3 is them both having the old world vampires coming for them, Louis for the book, and Lestat for being an out and proud rock star vampire. Seeing how they’ll interweave that with Lestat’s backstory will be very interesting. ✨☀️✨

Since I just love to suffer, I went back and rewatched episode 5 of this season after the finale. Now, when we know why Louis is with Armand after trial, why did he choose Armand, it really hits different, and I mean reaaaaaly. I'm not ok.

Something to think about - Armand said he preserved Louis happiness. Daniel made Louis happy. Maybe his turning Daniel wasn't fully out of spite. Perhaps it was as apology gift to Louis. Perhaps it's because Armand finally found someone who could best him & hold his own against him. And by being his maker - he would always have someone he couldn't read and would therefore be a match for his own mind. Or perhaps Daniel wanted the gift. We'll see in season three perhaps?

This is what a great show, a great episode and great television is all about! Everything about it is perfection, from start to finish, whether it's the Louistat reunion, Loumand's break-up, Louis'breakdown/subsequent revenge on the Coven, his emasculation of"Fran-tiago" before "bleed[ing] him like a cochon," ALL things Daniel,Louis' putting his haters on blast or the Akasha shout-out.
Speaking of Akasha, as both a way to summon her and to pay tribute to the late, great Aaliyah, who played her in "Queen of the Damned," since we're getting Rock Star Lestat, the band could sing one of Aaliyah's songs. Imagine an Aaliyah song in Sam Reid's voice! Hearts & minds (among other parts) would explode! 🤯💥
However, as amazing as the finale is, the heart and soul of this show is Louistat. If this show, this season & this finale have proven anything, is that, to paraphrase Armand, "no one can script the hurricane" that is Louistat, no matter how hard anyone tries. Speaking of which,that Louistat's reunion in a LITERAL hurricane didn't become a cliche is a testament to the extraordinary brilliance of the writers and the performances of Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid. All of the actors are amazing, but Jacob & Sam are in a league of their own. If they don't get serious awards attention next year, then fuck those fools.
