  • #hamradio #solar #overlanding I was determined to have 12v power in my vehicle to power radios and devices. I was convinced using the chassis / starter battery was not the best idea. My experience with RVs led me to the idea that batteries specifically for supplemental purposes was the best idea, and would leave the vehicle battery alone and healthy. It's been a couple years with me trying this or that, and making up my mind. I knew i wanted supplemental batteries and solar charging for those batteries. When I saw KM4ACK's video and a couple overland videos, I came to a decision fast enough.

Patrick! Thanks for getting in there with a comment! Much appreciated! Thanks for stopping by, watching, and the support. You're right. 99% won't care or wanna know how it was done. The other 1% are busy pecking on their keyboards on some forum, lol At any rate, it's pulling anywhere from 200wh to 280wh on a good day and 80wh to 100wh other times the sun is hidden. For me, it's a good panel. See you out there. 73 de Bill

Dennis! Thanks for stopping by, watching, and jumping into the conversation. I appreciate it. I'm happy so far. I've been fretting over how to get this done, and when it all came together in my muddled mind, I was content. It fits what I want. See you out there. 73 de Bill

Kyle! Thanks for being here and joining the conversation. Man, you don't know how close I was to pulling the trigger on that molded panel at Moore Expo. I had ciphered a way in my head to make it work; it was better than one with an aluminum framework. If I had been in my own vehicle I probably would have bought that one. I'm glad I didn't. It was about (3)x the price, and not exactly what I wanted. This panel works for me pretty much as I had it worked out in my head. Until I saw Jason KM4ACK's video, I was going to find or design a small, low-profile rack for the top of the pickup. This worked out great. Thanks for stopping by. See you out there. 73 de Bill

I am putting two renogy panels on my shack/shed. I'm a little nervous about being up that high. I don't get up on roofs that much.

Thanks for stopping by, watching, and taking time to share a comment. If you are not comfortable, do not push yourself. Maybe find someone you can direct and trust, or find someone who has done it before and will do it for you. I was watching a video by the HOA Ham, and he suggest possibly getting a contractor who will follow instructions to get it done right. Maybe you can make yourself comfortable by familiarizing yourself with safety equipment and the process??? Take your time. Do what is good for you. Feel free to jump in the comments and share your results. See you out there. Good luck. 73 de Bill
