    Wow, this moderator does not want to be there. Their kind of disinterested, whatever approach is so old, boring and utterly unnecessary. If you don't want to be there, don't! Plus, frankly, I came here to hear the main speakers not the moderator plugging their own writing and interventions

    For the far right the use of the term "liberal" for them is short for "democracy". The economic use of the word even in the term neoliberal doesn't register. It's a very post modern use of language by them. Yes, there are many flavors of authoritarianism here in the US but the language is pretty much the same. When a baptist preacher is talking about liberalism, the John Birch Society or Peter Thiel is talking about liberalism, it is about democracy.

    He actually is, though. Fascism as a form evolves and changes continuously. So of course it wouldn't look like it did yesterday. Apparently im years late but uh, actions he has taken since then have pretty much proven that he is.

    When a cat kills a mouse, it makes no difference to the mouse what the cat's motivation is. You won't be questioning whether someone is fascist when their boot is stomping your head.

    • @fahim-ev8qq
      @fahim-ev8qq Před 3 lety +9

      But it makes sense to understand what the motivations are in order to structure a response, you wouldn’t respond to a liberal and fascist boot similarly for example. Until you understand an opposition how can one structure a response to it?

    I got half way though this before it became very clear that the who project of attempting to categorize the current moment into historical boxes is pointless. Who cares if 'Fascism' is what we call our current politics or not? Does it change anything?! At all?

      @willismcgee5216 Před 3 lety +1

      What we label today doesn't necessarily change today. However if we're trying to make a better tomorrow, a strategy will need to be formulated and carried out. The more accurate the better. I may have chest pains that worry me. One friend says it's my lungs, another my heart, ribs, pulled muscle, nerve problem originating from my back...
      A solution. May require I narrow down the symptoms I suffer to heal the cause.

      It does though. If more people understood that the current COVID policies in places like the US, France, Australia, etc. were fascistic in nature, perhaps they would resist being overtaken by these restricting legislations. Instead you're called a conspiracist if you question someone like Fauci or the vaccine mandates.

      Just like this guy said, trump most definitely doesn't know or even care about political power in any sense of what "fascism" is. He's just a celebrity and business man who simply loves attention and fame. Thinking that trump is a conspiring fascist in anyway is just as much a conspiracy theory as the qanons who think Hollywood eats babies
