'They did it with glee': Douglas Murray says Nazi comparisons insufficient for Hamas

  • Author Douglas Murray says the comparisons between the Nazis and Hamas are insufficient after seeing the raw footage from October 7.
Mr Murray joined Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan to discuss what he had seen while travelling through several sites of the October 7 terror attack by Hamas.
“Even the Nazis were ashamed at what they did, SS battalions who spent their days shooting Jews in the back of the head and pushing them into trenches had to get very, very drunk in the evening to forget what they had done,” he said.
“Nazi high command famously had to get around the problem of soldier morale because the soldiers knew this wasn’t exactly what their lives were meant to look like either.
“I’ll tell you one very big difference, if you look at the raw footage … that is at least as barbaric as the Nazis did but here’s the difference - they did it with glee; they were deeply proud.”

Piers’ fence sitting is sad. His view that the majority of those marching in no way support what happened on Oct 7th is ignorant and cowardly. Same goes for the people in Gaza. You don’t see Jews celebrating in the streets of Israel and giving out candy to children every time there’s an air strike on Gaza. Yet it’s precisely what you see on the other side.
Piers doesn’t understand or just pretends not to that Hamas starts indoctrinating at a very young age, and they’ve been doing it for a long time. It’s foolish to think that everyone there hates Hamas. I’m sure there are many but they are unfortunately in the minority.

Yes, Paul Kessler, a 69 yr-old Jewish man, died from injuries sustained at a pro-Palestine rally after being hit - with a facial injury and blood coming out of his mouth - and a head injury from falling onto cement. Oddly, the police haven't called it a crime yet. Happened in Thousand Oaks, California on Nov. 5, 2023.

Also, a Jewish man was brutally hit and kicked while on the ground by 3 large men and surrounded by pro-Palestine people hurling insults on Oct. 28th in Sydney, Australia. *Hospitalized for 4 days with a concussion and more injuries.* For what? He saw half a poster remaining for a protest that had already passed. He tore the rest off to throw away, as anyone may rightly do.

It should be postponed because it conflicts with an already scheduled event. That seems to be a reasonable position to take to me.
The Police determine under what circumstances that protests can take place. They can take into consideration the possibility for violent behavior and disruption to the community in the formation of their plans. They can set restrictions on times and routes to avoid conflict between opposing groups. The legislation is there to enable them to do this.
If violence occurs, then two parties will be to blame
    (1) The Police for not setting reasonable restrictions on the locations/times of the groups concerned
    (2) The people who deliberately set out to provoke a group that wanted nothing more then to honor the dead.

There was a news story of two UK army officers that went on record of the great lengths the Israeli military take to avoid civilian casualties. There's audio of a phone call between an Israeli official and his Palestinian counterpart pleading with him to evacuate a building that was a target of an Israeli missile. When it was apparent the Palestinian was going to do nothing, he was asked what if they're children in the building. He replied he'd let the children die so their bodies could be put on display for the world to see. This dirtbag is what they are supporting.

    Thank you Douglas.
As an Israeli, I don't seek blind support. I want you to have a complex view but also enough integrity to seriuosly address my concerns about this conflict.
I think it is important to listen with your own ears to Hamas leaders and spokeman interviewes since 7.10. They say they don't want the betterment of the Gazans life, they want perpetual war and attention to the conflict (which I'll address later - from Hamas POV is about the very existance of Israel). They explicitly put every blame and responsibility on Israel and non on the Palestnians (a logical conclusion if the very existance of Israel is iilegitimate). When asked why they haven't created shelters for civilians (as opposed to the 500 km of military/terror tunnels) they say the UN should be the one that is responsible for that. They celebrate the terror attack and even say it would be repeated as many times it is needed in order to annihalate Israel and free the occupied lands. At the next moment (same interview), when pressed what "the occupied lands" mean they clearly answer it is the whole of the land (and so does the famous chant in the western rallies refernced in this video). Most disturbing is that the Palestinian political figure that condemned the 7.10 the most (Mahmoud Abbas, member of the Israeli parliament and even led a party in the previous coalition) refused to call it a terror attack - this is THE MOST condemnation mind you.
I won't continue about the lack of willingness from the Palestinians to take reponsibility though I have to say much. I just encourage you to listen to Hamas and believe what they say. These aren't children, or politicians who can't say they mind for fear of elections. These are idealists with a complete ideology and are absolutley commited to the destruction of Israel by all means (and probably western values also).
Now I want you to say you understand what I wrote above, and still tell me I shouldn't fight them. If you do, I ought not to listen.

I wish Douglas Murray could come be one of our elected politicians in the US. Our politicians should to take heed in what he says. This goes beyond just Israel. This has the potential to affect the entire world, and it does already affect the Jewish people all over the world. Britain and America should have learned from history with WWII.
Protesting and Freedom of Speech has been taken too far. It's become more about hatred and violence than about making any positive change.
