- Author Douglas Murray has slammed CNN anchor Zain Asher as an “absolute moron” after she claimed the Royal Family is grappling with a legacy of “the potential paying of reparations”.
He said when people talk about reparations it demonstrates their “incredible ignorance”.
“She has no idea in her racist hatred that Britain paid reparations 250 years ago,” he told Sky News host Rita Panahi.
These people are professional victims and full of hate.

Her Majesty worked for peace and reconciliation, and she lived a life of service performed with superior grace and modesty. I am thankful my country was an offspring of the British Empire...our system of justice, rights, and the dignity of the individual came from our English/British heritage. I moved to Trinidad and Tobago in 1962 when it gained its independence from Britain. It remained in the Commonwealth until I left in 1976 and became a Republic.

And what did she do to help the formally enslaved people? The British government paid out £20m to compensate some 3,000 families that owned slaves for the loss of their “property” when slave-ownership was abolished in Britain's colonies in 1833.

I’ve noticed as an American that no one ever wants to talk about Italy taking slaves into the 1920’s or Belgium committing untold colonial atrocities or the German colonial genocides or point out that Portugal and Spain took / killed far more slaves than any other colonial power. No, no one wants to talk about the prodigious Islamic slave trade “legal in some states into the 1970’s” or that the Africans themselves had culturally, religiously and indeed economically engaged in slavery long before any European involvement. No one wants to talk about the statistical fact that most African slaves were enslaved by and sold by other Africans. No, no it’s all America and Englands fault. Forget the fact that the English ended the west African slave trade single handedly at extreme cost of money, resources and lives. This is a common tactic in journalism. If a journalist were to randomly write a piece about colonialism I doubt anyone would pay attention. So they wait until all eyes are focused on Great Britain to receive the largest impact. It's just distasteful and shows a lack of education to attack someone or their policies during their funeral.

Those that ignore history etc. Something that puzzles me when discussing the slave trade is the very sordid history behind it. A good example is the history of the Kingdom of Dahomey, now Benin. Their King used to hold a big event known as the Annual Customs, where captured slaves were sacrificed, sometimes by the thousands. Eventually that changed as the transatlantic slave trade developed, and the King realised it was a good earner. But people seem to have a strange blind spot about how Africans ended up in slavery, how the British Empire helped end this trade, or in more modern times, the role of Democrats in resisting anti-slavery efforts in the US, and ending segregation.

"Trade" means that someone was "selling them". If those in Africa were so against the slave trade, then why were they doing everything they can to perpetuate and make money off it! If they didn't want the slave trade to continue, then they shouldn't have been selling the product in the first place. Its like a retailer blaming the customer for buying one of its products, and demanding reparations from the customer because they sold it them in error.
