Your voice is beautiful. Been a fan for years. I love playing your stuff for my daughter. Even at 5 years old she becomes very animated when she hears you, she has autism and music is when she loses herself and dances. It's a joy to see.

Gotta say, as a fan of yours for nearly 20 years, I cannot emphasize enough how much I love your music! It is such a breath of fresh air in today's musical climate.
Today's musical climate is even better than 20 years ago... Just stop listening the radio. Great music is being made and there are great young artists. You just need to look for it beyond the mainstream.
It's just average glam rock. Relax. Listen to some brutal death metal. There's a breath of fresh air for ya.

Me too and he just came out of nowhere with his band in 2004 where I live. I remember getting the cd 💿 at circuit city and thinking I had found a sacred item or a start of a legendary band that would be awesome and extraordinary in the music industry.
Great fun, thanks man. My abiding memory of The Darkness was a gig at Edinburgh Corn Exchange where we had a really good spot, then 30 seconds before you came on, two guys in glitter suits and ON STILTS - like 9 ft tall - came in and stood right in front of us. I've never wanted so much to set fire to someone's legs. Lol.

I'm 58 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. This really is a great channel. I love that CZcams allows people like myself to watch people like yourself ourside of their “day job” so to speak. Especially considering while I liked the songs I never really listened to The Darkness much.

The thing people forget is how you managed and produced yourselves as a band after the pubs n clubs you fought to get where you are. you went through some really rough times and as a kid as I was at the time it was hard to see but now looking at you and listening to you I’m so happy I stuck around for the ride. I’m 34 now but I will never forget seeing you guys for the first time and you were the reason I was desperate for a les Paul so thank you 👍🏻

A man who experienced all of these feats, yet always remained centered, and grounded to the most important things in life, which is doing what you love, but also remembering, that you’re not above anyone, not below, just a regular person doing what they love and connected to reality. Permission to Land is one of the best albums of opening decade of the century, every song, the arrangements, the placement of the songs the production....its a perfect play album start to finish just like Ziggy Stardust or Abbey Road etc etc...honestly this came out right as i was graduating from high school... perfect timing, was a great soundtrack to me growing up...love it man

Justin, I am a new fan! I have to say I didn't get into The Datkness at all back in the day, but these videos are amazing. Really insightful, funny and you come across as genuinely a nice guy.
My wife and I just saw you in Adelaide, and you're absolutely right - it couldnt be simulated. I got two of your picks, I bought the second to last hoodie and (if you remember) I pushed you back up when you almost fell during the stage dive (getting back on stage). That whole show was one of the best things I have ever experience in my life - So Thank You, Dan, Frankie and ROOooOfus! I had a smile the whole time - And im generally a sourfaced git (unintentionally).

"the sound of an amp hitting you in the chest" is what I missed and quite literally the cells in my body missed during the pandemic years... also "queuing up and your tickets aren't going to work" is a real & true rush nowadays (admittedly, "almost" as fun as waiting in line for three hours at some department store and then getting an actual paper ticket in your hand back in the day...)

Very true. As a guitar player from a very young age, I've realized most people don't understand the power of a cranked 100w tube amp with the full 2 4x12 setup. Beyond that, having 2 or 3 on stage behind you screaming. Rock music is about the feel, and the feel that gives you is incomparable. This modern DI modeling setup will never get that feel, where you are fighting this monster behind you that's literally making you go deaf. It's dangerous, thrilling, incomparable. If that goes away, we will truly lose something intangible that makes rock what it is. In-ears, phone speakers, your car, it isn't the same as hanging over the rail in front of the stage and behind hit with that. You are experiencing it with the players, a shared energy.
Being enjoying music video/song reaction content as of late, but the ones you do I certainly find entertaining especially when reacting to music older than 10 years. Unlike some channels, your reaction isn't a "fake" way where you'd pretend you've never heard it before. Big ups here from South Africa :)

I remember seeing The Darkness live in Folkestone on 8 February 2004, I still have the photos I took that night, outside the Leas Cliff Hall, of my friend with you, Dan, and Vic Reeves who was there with his auctioneer buddy Michael Hogben. Very interesting observation about album titles. There are loads of songs where I feel that the title is superfluous but I always thought of album titles as having a special, final meaning. The artist putting a bow on the collection, as it were.
Live in person music will never go away. At the end of the day people enjoy getting together and having shared in person experiences. Especially when you're young and free of too many obligations.
I've smashed 10gb of data watching all these videos back 2 back, brilliant stuff, love it.

Peter Gabriel agrees with your album idea. He named his first 59 albums Peter Gabriel. And at the same time, unrelated, Phil Collins stuck his face in a tight close up on everyone of his (popular) albums. And ironically, Genesis never put themselves on their covers.

I saw The Darkness last night at Adelaide, and while I'm glad Justin was able get his life back on track, him and the band stayed just the right amount of crazy to make it possibly the most fun concert of my entire life! Most bands aren't able to rock as hard as they did when they were younger; The Darkness were a total blast! Not to brag, but I managed to catch one of Justin's picks, and I even got to help Justin when he was crowdsurfing!
10/10 concert, will definitely try to go again if given the chance.
(Also, I'm aware of all the exclamation marks, but again, excitement.)
You might be surprised, he not only reads the comments here but responds to some too - I discovered if you bung him a couple of quid via the _Thanks_ here he tends to reply, not because he needs the cash but just to acknowledge and appreciate it, top man 😉
He does read the comments, probably not all but he does read them and responds. That's part of the reason I love his channel and his Patreon.

As a matter of fact, they are. The Darkness is currently doing a tour of Australia and New Zealand. I figure these videos were pre-recorded, as I don't see any significant changes to the location (aside from recently moving his studio setup, of course).
I mean, thinking about it, I guess it makes sense; as cool as it would be to see Justin making these videos while on the road, I imagine it would be quite a hassle to always have to set up a decent studio in all their venues.
EDIT: Added specific information as to their being in Australia.
Live gigs win. If we had sat at home for last night's gig instead of being at The Enmore Theatre in Sydney, we would have missed that charming green haired young lady and her delightful proclamation 🤦♀️😆 Stay live! It's a pleasure watching the crowd almost as much as the show.

It was 2004, I was in a high school acapella group, my teacher made me learn to sing “I believe in a thing called love”. Sort of hated the song but gawd damn, my voice got insanely better. A modern classic now. Thank you JH for the years of influence and rock!
