This game looks like it ought to scratch that itch I've had ever since Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, also gave me shades of Cyberpunk 2077. That said, it looks like a lot of spinning plates between immersive sim, multiple approaches, first person melee and platforming/parkour etc., but this trailer looks really promising.
I still think Mankind Divided is the best immersive sim to date, it had some of the best side-quests in videogame history, amazing game-altering upgrades & skills, the best open-world hub in the genre, & more.
If Eidos was allowed to finish their trilogy, Mankind Divided's biggest flaw (not counting the MTX forced in by Square Enix) - the main story's lack of closure & overall incompleteness - wouldn't have been as glaring.
The original has long been my favorite game of all time. The mobility here looks great, and I hope the reboot will retain much of what made the original great: being in control (no forced slow walking, QTEs, etc.), secondary functions, player choice, impressive AI, split-screen, co-op, counter-op, MP bots, tons of unlockables like cheats and characters (not locked behind microtransactions or FOMO), aliens, an explorable hub area that gets more stuff as you progress, optional tutorials, arena MP with weapon pickups, the ability to carry many weapons at once instead of being limited to two, an emphasis on gadgets that you manually choose and use, in-game lore, varied locations and mission design, meaningful objectives that you have to think and explore to complete, enemies that don't always know where you are and also react to being shot, etc.
Counter op, that mode where your friend respawns as random jobbers in the 1 player levels.
One thing is safe, you wont get all the features you mentoined here. Because the original PD had to much features, they cant do that nowadays. And what we can see in this trailer is much scripted stuff wich isnt like the OG at all.
Yeah, the actual gunplay doesn't seem manual much at all. I don't know how representative it is of minute-to-minute gameplay as opposed to being a scripted moment. With only one weapon shown that mostly locks onto heads automatically, it's hard to tell. The whole sequence might be scripted, or it could be a tech demo without the core gameplay even being ready yet. It says gameplay and cutscene, so surely at least the scanning parts are unscripted.

Given that this game is in development hell, it is miracle to see this much. But I feel like Microsoft is taking this really serious. I don't think they will put a release date until it's done.

The overall feeling and the near-second long delay between headshots and the enemies doing a ragoll backflip makes me think this is about as real as the E3 2005 PS3 mockup trailers

not to say Crystal Dynamics can't make a perfectly good Perfect Dark, just utterly bizarre that the studio that originally made the series has been denied the chance to make a sequel for years and then when it finally does get made, it's by another group entirely.
current Rare is incapable of creating a new Perfect Dark which is why it's been given to another company
I dunno.. I kinda liked it when Joanna acted more like an assassin/spy than the off-putting “find the truth” inner dialogue. It made me keep thinking she was gonna say “I can do this” every time she jumped off-of something. Gameplay looks good though!
I find it hard to buy that this is real gameplay to be honest. It felt like one of those fake gameplay trailers. Plus even if it was real, they seem to have put a lot of emphasis on the presentation, which is what killed the last game in this series as the gameplay was awful. Finding it hard to be excited.
Ok, I'm not the only one! It's not that it's so amazing that it can't be real, but something about it feels really off. The editing, the HUD, the movement, it doesn't feel like it comes from actual gameplay but rather prototypes and vertical slices that they stapled together to make a trailer. Kind of like the original Anthem trailer was for a game that didn't exist. I'm thinking the game is still in a rough state and Xbox leadership's patience is running out so it's coming out no matter what.

Lol, Perfect Dark has been dead for nearly 20 years. Its entirely up to the new team how they want to make basicly a reboot to the series feel like in 2020s, they dont have any obligation to look back to games that are 20-30 years old 😂😂
What even is Perfect Dark at this point? The last game was a launch title for 360... There is no standard to this franchise anymore. They can do whatever they want.
