Great review. You are so right about how adding an SVS sub can completely change the movie experience. I recently ran my ht system in another room for a month without a sub, as soon as I brought it back the smile crept straight back onto my face! I've also tried diy DUAL 21 inch (sealed) subs in my home theatre and believe it or not my single modest sized PV12-NSD from 5 years ago shakes the room and eclipses them! Call me a fanboy too lol
Great review. I purchased two PB-2000s which are essentially the same as the PC-2000 and felt the same way you do about them. They produce very 'even' and 'uncolored' bass. The sub is certainly not a one note wonder. It plays 20 Hz just as loudly and cleanly as it does 80 Hz, as well as every frequency in between. I think the amp's DSP helps a lot with this.
Wait. If you can locate where the bass is, something is wrong.
Great review. Informative, entertaining... and clean! Favorite new channel find of the year!
+Matthew Bolstad Thanks for watching!
Ive had one for a few years with my klipsch 6000s towers with my sony 1000 watt out that svs in the corner of your livingroom and trust me thats the best sound you will get out of it..power and settings is all at about 45% and shakes my whole house and with the towers to make uo for the midrange and also very highs with the very high quality not tweeters but air horns for tweeters and the 2000 watt sony head unitit does it all with such ease i have to keep the bass all the way down on the eq so it doesnt rattle and or upset neighbors
Great review! The PC-2000 is SO amazing!
Just subscribed. Yes, I agree with your center placement too. Good thing there was no tv there. Ooooh, I hope you will tell me what those dual 3 ways are. Do you have a video on them? I have been hearing a lot of good things about SVS.
My friend, i just enjoy your knowledge. I love music and home theater, but you can really open up my mind about it.
Just got mine and it sure shakes my house. Saving up for second pc-2000.
I have also found that a lot of subs placed directly in the middle has the best balanced sound.
great review, well spoken and entertaining.
...put my Sunfire true sub in the middle an thought the same, haven't heard these yet butt am not in the market anymore either, Bob Carver is a genius!!! Great videos by the way man☻ On another note, have you auditioned Carvers (older) Amazing Loud Speakers??? I am rebuilding some I rescued from a college kid here locally, it was like seein' an old brokedown dog in a shelter your Heart just pours out to w/silent cries that makes you feel weak. Needless to say I couldn't allow them to sit there any longer...
Do I need two? I have hardwoods and vaulted ceilings and neighbors that have a loud motorcycle that they love to rev in the morning.
Man i love your reveiws
+Alford Mundy Man I love your comment!
I love your set up. Nice video👍🏻
It's "hi-per-bo-lee" not "hyper-bowl"....
+areallytallguy Thanks for the heads up.
that doesn't show you where the accent goes, which is key: czcams.com/video/JEBZ_lq7cxY/video.html
I tried the new Taco Bell Ultra-bean Hyperbole, and it was delicious.
Some music has bass, some has less depending on the instruments used and the recording engineers decisions. In my view most 'audiophiles' talk about neutrality and transparency - which means accurate imaging and full range frequency response. I still feel much of the benefits of expensive equipment is automatically negated when you choose vinyl as a source medium. The record making process of compression (at the cutting lathe) then expansion (at your phono stage) adds such a hit and miss distortion in terms of miss matched transfer characteristics that it will never match high end digital in terms of high fidelity. Add to this the fact that most recordings are made digitally anyway. You can have 24 bit 96 Khz digital and it is an exact replica of the source tape in a way that vinyl can never be. 20 years ago digital to analog conversion was not as advanced as it is today and storage was much more expensive - today you can buy a 2 TB disk drive for $100 and sophisticated DACs for around the same price. So long as you use lossless audio format such as FLAC or ALAC digital is the future - hope this silly craze for vinyl nostalgia ends soon so that we can have real high fidelity reproduction.
+phr tao Hope the silly LOUDNESS WAR ENDS SOON so we can get back to Hi Fidelity reproductions. That is the real enemy!!
Just gimme my albums. Dont even get my cd's out anymore. Just my preference. All about the music.
Any review of the SVS PC-4000 as trying to choose between SB-4000 and PC-4000. Regards, Greg
Great review!
Great vid mate, make more :)
I really enjoyed your review and you were terrific videographer is well! I wanted to ask if a single SVS 2000 is plenty for most people or is there something undeniable about having the subwoofer in a pair? Also must this subwoofer be away from a wall to let it breathe or can it be located against the wall that is facing the viewer?
Please reply I want to know too
A single PC2000 pro can produce compelling solidity and depth to movie soundtracks in my 18 x 13 room without breaking too much sweat. Placing near a wall or corner will excite certain nodes in your room which will alter the frequency response, this will occur wherever you place the sub. Most modern Av amps and the PC2000 pro app can tune the response to a flatter response if you take the time to tune it. I found only a small amount of experimentation was required to get excellent results in the context of an already well sorted 5.0 system.
Hi, Are you still using the PC2000 subs and do you still maintain that they work great for music instead of another SVS sealed sub? I want to choose the PC2000 to do it all but I dont care for muddy music with ported subs and Im afraid the sb2000 even in a pair would be too anemic for movies. You opinion is greatly appreciated!!!
He just said he could tell the sub was there.....DUH, I should fucking hope so. lol
I think I’ll get 2! Plus a couple 2000s!!
Excellent mate, thanks. My PC-2000 ordered.
I want to upgrade from klipsch R-115SW AND KLIP R-112SW to SVS SUBWOOFERS.
How you compare SVS PC4000 TO SVS PB16 ULTRA? power is difference only 300rms,
and big weigh svs pb16 ultra. i need to know svs pc4000 what spl db? and how loud is? my room 45 meter in square.
Are you going to review the SVS PC-4000?
Thank u! I purchase the PC 12 Plus. You should check that one out!
I'm a big fan of placing the sub dead center. Sure it requires the listener to sit in the sweet spot but if you place your sub off center your stereo image WILL suffer.
The Sub sounded more musical because you have the time alignment right. All the speakers where about the same length from your ears.
On your vinyl setup what type of highpass did you use for you towers?
If you move the sub behind the rack will it sound the same or will the curtains affect it?
I wonder how a subwoofer build would be with same design , but instead of ported ,use a passive radiator on the top.
It would likely be wanting a second passive radiator. The general rule is two passive radiators to 1 powered driver.
i noticed you have floor carpets. by the looks of it seems quite plush on texture. any stability issues with the soundpath rubber feet? does the pc2000 have solid footing on your carpet?
Yes, solid footing with no issues
i might buy one second handed but the thing that's holding me back is it's size
Hi, I wanted your opinion on this sub being used singularly rather than incorporating two for any size room based on its design? My room is 20 x 20 with a 9 foot rough on tile but it's an open room floor plan that incorporates a living room kitchen area. So I'm wondering if one would suffice that kind of a floor plan and cubic feet rather then utilizing two subwoofers?
+jim burke Regardless of the size of the room, 2 subs will always be the better choice if you can swing it. With this being said, 1 would easily be "enough" especially if you corner load it.
Why is your TV placed near your ceiling?
Thomas Anderson he needs those 1.8m tall speakers so that the soundstage is also up near the ceiling ;/)
does this speaker have more speakers in that Cylinder?
Great review!! Looking forward in lots more. Cheers!
1MSTV Thanks for watching!
how did you not have any problems with the needle and the lows? my sub goes crazy when i turn my sub up while playing vinyl
Proper table setup with good isolation and vibration control shouldn't be effected by a subwoofer.
Same here.
how do you think their ported models fairs with music? SVS recommended I go with the ported, but everyone keeps saying I MUST go sealed.
Also there seems to be more "awards" for the sealed version.
I'm very torn SB-2000 vs PB-2000
Will you be listening to music more than watching movies and cinema?
yes. I'll be primarily listening to music.
my room is 2500 cubic feet.
I've tried both.
The bass is undeniably better on the pb.
I tried the pb and loved it. But the size and finish made me return it for 2 SB2000s and after a year of using them. It was just not enough, especially not after hearing the PB2000.
The PB 2000 alone provided deeper and better base then 2 SB 2000s.
So after a year I called SVS today and placed an order for the PC 2000. SVS will be charging me about $125 for shipping and will swap out the two sb subs with the PC 2000s.
I'm hoping that the PC 2000 will have just as much bass as the PB 2000.
kas' n things - Conclusion??
How much of an effect do you think putting one of these on its side would have? In terms of frequency response etc?
Dont do that
y do you all wear caps, indoors?
Can you review and compare Pc2000 Pro
What kind of speakers are those?
5:04 SOLD!
Just think how the 800w pc-12+ sounds if that's not crazy enough there is the pc-13 ultra! 1000w rms 3600w peak! svs rules.
Home Theater Junky I can only imagine...
Dam that’s one big sub..
I have a PB 2000 its great but doesn't really out perform even my H100 Acustech. At least not by 500.00 dollars in price. Still PB2000 is a great sub.
+isaacespapa1 You actually think a 150w rms 12 inch can even compete with a high quality 500w rms 12 inch? You're stupid.
Any chance you have compared this to a Rythmik sub at the same price? I am talking about 2.1 audio only system. I am looking for a sub and this review may have taken me over to SVS from Rythmik. Is the SVS tube better than their sealed cubes for music?
+Eric Matthews Rythmik doesnt return emails but REL is going to work with me in 2016. Stay tuned.
+New Record Day
Thanks. I keep hearing always buy a closed sub for music. This SVS is ported. Just as good for audio?
Ive heard the same but never done a direct comparison in house.
+Eric I just bought a svs SB-2000 and I'm pretty sure I need a port. sounds great but i like to feel a bit more base. This baby is going back...
should have used a better song to feel out your system a little more
Its on blowout! $699 price on website! I got mine for $749 including tax and shipping!
great video
What are the name of those towers??
+pepe hinojosa Anthony Gallo Reference 3.1's
Do I spot a tele in the background? No doubt, being the audio connoisseur you are you've got a nice Handwired, better yet, vintage Fender or Marshall amp to go with it?
hyper bowl??
LOL yeah it's pronounced hyperbolyyyy!!!
Evie sands
I think any good subwoofer test is with Metallica's master of puppets song.
Omg what speaker is that??
+Willson Tan Anthony Gallo Reference 3.1
***** thank you~;)
You should try the Klipsch R-115 SW. It's about the same price but has a 15'' driver. I wonder how it would compare to the PC-2000...
keepcoding1 Me too, but a fair guess would be that they're quite different beasts. The Klipsch is likely louder and more aggressive. probably it's also not as smooth and uncoloured, which SVS-subs are famously known to be. The SVS has the upper hand on extension as well, reaching 16 - 260Hz compared to 18 - 125Hz for the Klipsch.
keepcoding1 I'm willing to bet that they won't be as responsive. To be fair, I've always held some what of a negative view of subs with drivers larger than 12 inch. I have yet to hear a 15" sub that has impressed me.
Tried em both. Hands down svs
why?????
kas' n things why?
Try watching a GOOD movie with it and see how it sounds.
Starts at 2:50 but theres really no point, cause he says its good... $800 and we dont even hear it..
I've a hard time believing this thing extends to a true 16 hz at equal amplitude to other bass frequencies. Exaggeration is so common especially among subwoofer makers. Unless you measure it to confirm, I'd be skeptical.
Furthermore, aside from bass extension, what is more important is uniform bass distribution, tightness (read speed), flat amplitude response (not plodding one note bass), freedom from compression effects and pitch definition. This last quality is rare in any woofer and I've heard it only in the best motional feedback designs such as the Entec.
I spy a costco chair
Look at the price right now....
DDDDDDDDDROP THE BASS
If you don't have a sub, you might as well not have tweeters.
try 2 subs left and right 😊
It looks like a dustbin
Klipsch r-115sw is monster, house doors, windows feel whole house vibrations, scary powerfull on low bass! 400 rms and 800 peak power, svs sb2000 have no chance, klipsch is 10 time more powerfull! And bass quality is outstanding! Best in this price sub home on this planet !!
Are you seriously comparing with and without the subwoofer?
You just lost all credibility after that..
Useless without high pass connections.
+67spankadelik I dont follow, whats useless without high pass connections?
+New Record Day Hi Ron, love your reviews. High pass connections allows the input signals of the sub to receive information precisely at the exact same time as your main speakers. That is what makes the sub truly musical. The RCA connection tend to be slow and muddy. My opinion is in regards to hifi /stereo listening. This sub will better suited for movies where it will shine best, if that is ones only intention for having it. Because the sub has it's own dedicated job in multi channel settings.
+67spankadelik You bring up a good point. I have always noticed better integration when connecting subs via the high level connections.
+New Record Day This is why a less powerful sub like some entry level Rel subs sounds so much better. I'm only half right though, depending on the user's intentions. High Pass is much more accurately integrated for clean stereo sound. Have a great day!
+67spankadelik Thanks for stopping by!
Bassheads.....UGH!!!! Their philosophy is that the best kind of bass is WAY TOO MUCH BASS....SO MUCH BASS THAT IT DISTORTS.
Nonsense!!!! The best kind of bass is REALISTIC SOUNDING bass...period.
Cranking the bass to +1000 so you hear nothing else is just stupid. Real life sound is nothing like that.
Are you seriously trying to go into all of this detail, talking really in depth.........with a room like that.
I can't believe people watching this thinking you are some sort of specialist
