Very sad ending for this special lady. She went through a lot during her short life. I hope she will always be remembered for her damsel in distress acting career. Thanks Jordan
William Desmond Taylor's murder was solved but not by the police. I highly recommend the book "Tinsel Town" by William J. Mann, published in 2015, if you'd like to know what happened. I really enjoy your channel -- so nice to visit the southland without getting on a plane. I was born in Hollywood in the 1940s, raised in Burbank, and left for northern California in 1970. Keep up the great work!
Margaret Gibson confessed to it.
Glad to see you told her story Jordan. I really feel the sorrow in the details you shared of her life. I was familiar with her and had always thought they should of done a documentary or film inspired by those events. Maybe even shoot it in black and white and get a really good writer? This was a period of Hollywood that is almost faded from existence and needs to be preserved and shared.
I’m always impressed by you’re much researched and empathetic delivery in the detailing of peoples lives. That’s very human of you, and seemingly rare!
Marisa Tomei played Mabel and Dan Ackroyd was Mack Sennett in the movie “Chaplin, “ a great film that I rewatch every couple of years.

Hi Jordan, what a sad end for Mabel, like quite a few stars of that era. Those early Hollywood studio photos are so beautiful. Hard to believe that Mabel has been dead not that far off 100 years. Well, at least she worked with some big stars of that era. I remember your other vlog regarding William Desmond Taylor. Great vlog Jordan.
Mabel is my favorite. There is no one else like her who ever lived. She transcended reality.
Thanks Jordan, you're a wonderful storyteller, very respectful and loving!
Thank you Jordan for choosing a woman who sadly is often overlooked and forgotten today. A fascinating story and yes I agree she never recovered from a traumatic experience in love. I am glad she is in a nice mausoleum and hopefully she has found peace that eluded her in her short life. ☺️😊🥰❤️☀️🌴🦩
Hi Jordan your Hollywood videos are the best. I can watch them over and over. Thanks again...
The majority of books that I have come across covering the history of Hollywood normally include a passing reference or studio photograph of Mabel Normand and little else, however your previous vlogs introduced me to her fascinating biography and today's video was a beautiful tribute. Many thanks Jordan for all your amazing work.
Wonderful piece, Jordan. Love these old Hollywood stories. Thank you so much for helping to keep them alive.
Love when you talk about the silent stars
I love knowing all the History of the silent/golden age of movies. Very interesting, the people who she was connected to are just the brightest names in Hollywood! Thank you for sharing all the knowledge, next trek to the library going to read more on her, and watch her movies. Another great vlog, Ty!! The Old Hollywood stars are so much more interesting to me.
Never really new who Mabel was or about her career but learned some stuff about her from this video, so thanks, Jordan .
Love the old Hollywood stuff, Jordan. Hard to fathom how quickly they made movies in those days. It's great to have the history vlogged as locations and important places disappear.
Great video as always! 8:17 how creepy and ironic that a siren can be heard at Mabel's grave while talking about the police interrogating Mabel? Courtland Dines didn't die from the gunshot wound(s). Anyone interested in finding out more about Mabel ... read "Keystone" by Simon Louvish and (a chapter on Mabel in) "Silent Stars" by Jeanine Basinger. John Hodiak was married to Anne Baxter, he was another star who died way too young. He was Judy Garland's love interest in "The Harvey Girls."
I did learn something today, thank you Jordan.
She left such a huge mark in society, yet she was so young when she passed. What a tragedy.
I love Lou Costello, wish you had of shown his burial place while you were there.
Thanks again. ❤️Jodie 🇦🇺
…this was great thanks Jordan ! …so agree with your feeling re: Mack & Mabel, what was he thinking? such a beautiful woman ! PS the fellow swinging the hammer under Arbuckle’s nose is Buster Keaton !
Thank you for sharing Mabel's story! I'd never heard of her before now. I'm sure she's grateful for this. ❤️
You read my mind with this one! I was just reading up on Mabel last week!! I do a lot of Chaplin in my scholarship, so this vlog is a real treat for me! Thank you!!
That was great. I really miss your old Hollywood videos. They remind me so much of the old tv show Mysteries and Scandals with A.J. Benza.
Jordan, you did an amazing job in telling the story of Mable Normand. Her life was one of those that if it didn't actually happen, nobody would believe it. From your research and explaining it to your viewers, it's obvious that this woman was filled with bad decisions and a lot of drama that she brought on herself. I personally do not like speaking ill of the dead as it is disrespectful. But from what you explained, if she had a little bit of self-control, discipline, and more self respect. A lot of what happened to her when it happened would not have happened. Thank you for bringing this sad story to the viewers. I personally never heard of her until this story. She made her mark for herself and for Hollywood and deserves all the appropriate respect. She was a trailblazer for women in a time that was extremely difficult.
Well Said Sir.
RIP-Mabel, while I am too young to remember any of your movies I do remember seeing you in reruns with Charlie Chaplin (the "Keystones"). I just wish you could have had a happier and longer life.
Thank you Jordan. A great video. I've missed these Hollywood history videos. Thank you for doing these while you're in the area. A lot of interesting details on Mabel. Thank you. Blessings - Judith 🎭🎵
Thanks Jordan for this Hollywood story no one can tell them like you I have not been watching you for a while but I will be getting back to your great videos lots of kisses 😘 to sweet Jah and Best Wishes to all watching Marie Dublin Ireland 🇮🇪 ❤️
Alot of people under the age of 50 never heard of or watched movies of
Mabel Norman.
But your docs awaken a curiosity to explore for more history and a love develops for the old movies, and once it takes hold, you discover how beautiful the early movie stars were.
Thank You for leading us to a wonderful experience.
Normand
@@patricianormand6749Please accept my apoligies, my spelling is often not up to standardss. 🙃
Thanks for another awesome vlog Jordan! You have such a gift for this and your knowledge is impressive! Looking forward to the next vlog! ❤
Daze, could while your out there in Hollywood, could you please do a story on Mario Lanza, the man who began Rock n Roll, even though he sang opera for MGM and then went solo, with other adventures up to his death at 38 yrs of age. And his lovely wife Betty, who couldn't live without him and wound up killing herself with a accidental overdose? Leaving behind 4 children and where are they now? Thank you Daze, Mabel and so many other's done wrong in Hollywood!
I remember her from chaplin movies! I had no idea about her real life! So fasinating but sooo sad!
Thank you for sharing her story, what a sad life she had. Such talent, yet nobody cared when she was going through those terrible times. RIP Mabel Normand
I had never heard of Mabel but I know she's looking at you over the Rainbow Bridge with gratitude for remembering her.
I became a fan in the 1980's . Wonderful actress ! It was a shame how she was treated .
Thank you, Mr. Jordan. So sad and tragic. This reminds me of the movie Babylon, with Brad Pitt. The silent movies.
Your Vlogs from and about old Hollywood and LA are so super good!!!! Such interesting information Jordan!
Thanks for sharing Jordan. I just watched The Extra Girl not long ago and really enjoyed her in it.
Ty Jordan I love old Hollywood and you share it so well ty for that you are always so respectful and dignified. Sad end for Mabel so young😿🐾😎
Thank You Jordan & Jah , I always enjoy all your vlogs, Sam & Dakota send their Love to Jah, From Colorado 🌹♥️
LOVE the new opening Jordan! (Handful of Sand is my favorite!)
I love these vlogs from you. Reminds me of the old days...lol. And the green sunglasses are awesome. I still have mine I got from you many moons ago.
Love old Hollywood history. Very interesting. Good video.
I APPRECIATE YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS GREAT LADY OF EARLY CINEMA. 🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦
Thank You Jordan,
Found this very interesting as l remember her from watching the Keystone Cop's and Charlie Chaplin movies when l was a child....long time ago! Very interesting indeed!!!
…but you are so young looking…
This was a fascinating vlog. It was another respectful cemetery vlog. Every time I hear about some poor woman who was strung along by a man she loved, I think of the line from that Mae West movie “She Done Him Wrong.””….some guy done her wrong. The story’s so old it should have been put to music long ago.” I’ve only watched two silent films, so I’m not familiar with Mabel Norman’s work. Ironically, I am familiar with Lee Cody - having seen a couple of his later films.
Hey Jordan! Great story on mabel, I also appreciate old Hollywood history & appreciate new & awesome information. Jah seems happy to be back @ his old stomping grounds 🐕
I read a biography about Mabel Normand she was a good actress I got the book from the library books by mail good vlog Jordan vickie napa ca
Thanks for this one Jordan. My first viewing for your vlogs was the one on William desmond taylor, which started a great interest in him and that era in Hollywood.
Aww Jordan, your old stomping grounds. I really enjoy your vlogs with such history. Thank you for taking us on such great journeys. God Bless you and Jahster.🙏🌷🌹🌹
Just started watching you, Jordan. I watched your videos on William Powell and Norma Shearer. They were excellent! They're both my favorite! Thank you for sharing! So glad we share the same interest! 💫 Btw,, wonder how they got her birthdate wrong and why they haven't changed it (?)

Another Great One!❤
Thanks again Jordan
Sad tale. I was out there once a very long time ago. I wonder who the one old friend was that was with her when she died. I'm sure you've read "A Cast of Killers" about the Desmond Taylor killing. Interesting story based on King Vidor's notes. I'm going to check out your video on it. Enjoyed this.
I think it was her nurse who she became friends with
Very sad life Mabel had indeed. Thank you Jordan. I really love how much you research you do on each of your Vlogs. I am curious how they could get the year she was born wrong. I've seen this on other headstones etc.
Wow. God Bless Mabel
I mainly know of Mabel from the Jerry Herman (Hello, Dolly) musical Mack and Mabel which starred Robert Preston and Bernadette Peters. Some great songs in that show.
Thanks awesome video
Strange that her crypt marker has her being born in 1895 when virtually every source has her birth as in 1892.
mysteries and scandels has a segment about her
Ty for Sharing...❤
Great Movie history …I’ve became a big fan of your channel…keep up the interesting work
Chester Morris would be another good one.
Sad ending thanks Jordan
Great video 💯 if you haven't already would you consider doing a video on Lina Basquette she was in Cecil b demilles godless girl a beautifully movie she had a tragic life !
She's been gone for almost 100 yrs. wow
mabel normand was connected to the murder of william desmond taylor. she also buried in calvary cemetery in whittier los angeles where my grand parents are buried. mabel is buried inside the church along with her mother and actor john hodiak a few celebrities buried there. ramon navarro is buried outside. I was born and raised in East Los Angeles, Ca.
Stevie nicks song Mabel Normand brought me here
Good Video!
Very interesting and sad. Going to look up more info on her
You should do a video about Clara Bow.
Very interesting. Sounds like she was a lot like Lucille Ball in natural comedic talent. Another major talent ruined by drugs and alcohol.
VERY INTERESTING JORDAN GREAT BLOG
TFS the life of Mabel Normand
These woman paved they way not only for women in cinema but for woman in general in the workforce from top execs to secretaries. Yeah they had secretaries in those days but if in that era they had computers ect they would have to prove themselves they can use it and prove themselves they can handle the work load ect. Im not a feminist by ANY MEANS im just trying to say these early ladies helped pave the way for modern ladies :)
Thanks Jordan. and thank you little Jah! (more screen time for the Jah-ster.)
Andrew Shore paid you a big compliment in the comment section, which I thought was well said and I agree with him.
Good for her I’m glad she left him
Lou Costello, that would be an interesting vlog
Already did one
I Always Have Liked Your Theme Music !!!
I knew about her
probably got TB from swimming in that vile river !!!!
♥️
I think I'm related to her
see the movie babylon with brad pit
Did she die in the same sanatorium as wallace Reid
Jordan, can I ask why you decided to move away from California? Thank for all you do
I lived there 20 years, and I wanted new experiences. 20 years is long enough for anyone.. I wouldn't change my decision one bit
@@DazewithJordantheLion oh I don’t blame you I absolutely understand, 20 years is a long time I was born and raised in Southern California in the San Fernando Valley and I now live in the woods of Idaho zI wouldn’t change it for anything, but you are such a connoisseur with stars and the lifestyle that I had to ask you why you left
Whoooa
Surprised u never worked on location in film
