    We use to just stick a styrofoam coffee cup in the back of the trans to keep it from leaking. Also I use 50psi fuel hose for my trans lines. A lot easier to feed it through the chassis. But it's not stock appearing.

    • @Shop209
      @Shop209  Před 2 lety

      Yeah. I have a set of transmission plugs but there’s only a little fluid in it so I wasn’t too worried.

    Did you forget to bolt up the converter, or was that just not recorded? Been a mechanic a long time, I almost never have the luxury of doing a motor with the front clip out of the way. LOL

    • @Shop209
      @Shop209  Před 2 lety

      I didn’t before I put it in. Easier to have the car holding up the engine and trans while turning it. I usually wait until I have distributor installed to put converter bolts in since I set it up to TDC before I set it in car.

    Hey man I have looked all over CZcams and can’t find anything on this. I have a 1977 nova 350 with 700r4 and when I put the headers on it hits the trans crossmember just wondering if you have had this problem

    Another great video man!!
    I have a question, iv been trying to Research it but it's geting me no where. So my 74 buick apollo has what appears to be a starter relay under the hood bolted to the firewall. I checked it, it is hot. However even with the Ignition on it doesn't start my car. And it doesn't appear to do anything. Even if I take it out there no difference. So I was wondering if you or someone here would know what it's used for. It's bolted to the firewall right above the brake Master cylinder. The relay it self I'd black, and has a rubber push button beside the word start. The bracket that it's attached to is orange. 🤷‍♂️

    • @Shop209
      @Shop209  Před rokem +1

      Ok. So that is a seat belt starter interlock. One year only. It was designed to allow you to bump the starter from under the hood without the seat belt connected. Once. Lol. Then you had to reset by connecting seat belt to reset it. Or something like that.

    Hey I have a question abt motor mounts. So on a 74 the research I’ve done says that I need clamshell type mounts on the frame side? But I can’t seem to find a definite answer on what to use for the motor side? Bought the car with no mounts it was originally a 6cyl and it’s going 350

    • @Shop209
      @Shop209  Před 2 lety

      Ok. So the 73-up cars had clamshell mounts. It has a rubber frame mount with just a big metal bowl looking piece for the engine side. I’ll try to get a pic posted on my community page when I get home later.

    Is the automatic transmission crossmember different from the manual shift? Iam installing a 400 turbo and a 383 small block but it looks like it's to far forward? Just wondering if that's what's going on or the mounts are different. Thanks

    • @Shop209
      @Shop209  Před rokem +1

      The TH400 crossmember is different than the th350/Muncie/powerglide. It is offset to the passenger side two inches as well as set back some for the transmission mount.
