This 4 piece, Ethan Allan Bookcase has great a traditional design but needed a little tweak to bring it up to date. Follow along with this modern furniture makeover while I take a free piece of furniture and turn it into an $800 profit!

This looks so sleek. I love the addition of the stencil detail on the inside of the unpainted door. It makes the unpainted door look so intentional instead of "missed".

It was in your family. Now the piece has history and a story to tell! I love that you kept it! Put a sticker inside and write the original owner with a little history. And write the date that you restored it. May it be passed down to generations to come.

I love how they turned out. I also agree with you about pricing. To each there own. If they want to nit pick and fret the smaller details let them. 95% of the things i redo are completely free amd found on the side of the rd. Yes i may hav a to put a little more work into fixing them but its all free and gives me something to do with my time. Its a win win for me. I add the cost of materials and sometimes my time if ive spent a whole lot of time on a certain puece but usually nothing more gets added into the price of the furniture once done.

HI KATIE, I really loved seeing you work on this piece and the finished unit - was truly gorgeous! One of the reasons, was seeing the contrast - I'm visually impaired, and often when I'm watching a video, what I'm really doing is listening, because most of the time, when someone is paibting a piece of furniture, or doing a DIY craft or art project, they are painting a white object against a white background - so I can't distinguish anything ! But your project today really came through and I got to "see" it! Thanks fpr helping me
to"see" what I' ve been missing!

When I saw this staged I commented out loud to myself. It is so beautiful and wanting to keep your Curio/Cabinet/Vitrine makes perfect sense, it fits so well in your home. Also it's nice your family is not so reliant on the income of your flips that its possible for you to keep special pieces for your son & daughter as well (I think I remember you kept a dresser for your son but don't recall what specifically for your daughter.) Katie it looks so good staged you should keep a copy for a Portfolio : )
