Not saying she can’t sing, dance or perform. She is talented, but this myth that Beyoncé and her albums are such majestic works of art that they are the best, give me a break.
Beyoncé being overrated is nothing new. People have being saying that since the beginning of her solo career.

Not only that, but people have always been anticipating her downfall by trying to compare her with the most recent big name they can find (usually a white woman). They’ve been doing it for over 20 years now and so far, nobody has come close to her in terms of consistency in quality and popularity.

I agree with some of the things you said, but, Gaga HAD IT QUITE ROUGH, like, she had to work a lot (even many jobs at once) just to make enough money to do some demos and stuff, and even then, she was r@p3d by a music producer who told her if she spoke, he would ruin her whole career. So, I don't think is fair for you to say that she had it all in a silver spoon when in reality it wasn't like that.

Beyonce is a once in a generation singer, performer and beauty....unfortunately her music is absolute trash and is not as empowering as people say she is. It feels like a waste of pure talent.

REAL Ledgends and Icons are Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna, Bob Marley, Aretha Franklin, David Bowie, John Lennon, Tupac, Freddie Mercury, and so on and so on. Those named ICONS/LEDGENDS above in the real DAYS of earning those titles wrote their own music, performed and sang their own songs. They didn't have 28 writers on one song and didn't rip off other artist to make a buck plus it seems these days people are named icons and legends prematurely.
Real people that understand the magnitude of music and artistry take honoring an Icon or Ledgend seriouly and give props where its do and EARNED. PLEASE be real and honest about what an actual Icon is and what make u a legend.

Half those people on your list don’t write their own music. Also she was the first black woman to win the Song Writer of the Year award by the ASCAP in 2002 before she even went solo. Because she wrote Independent Women Pt 1, Survivor, and Jumpin, Jumpin. Also some of those names like Aretha who had a whole beef with Dionne Warwick over I say a little prayer a song Dionne originally recorded is funny. Mind you, Destiny’s child members are on record literally saying she wrote most of their hit records. Every person she has worked with is ON RECORD saying that she writes and is HEAVILY involved in the writing process. And she credits everyone who helps. She also says who wrote a song if she did not write it. I’m tired of y’all tryna push this false narrative.

Her talent as an entertainer (sing & dance) isn’t overrated, but the overview of her as an ARTIST (overall) definitely is. She is far from a phenomenal songwriter, producer, and composer- as she often has people in the studio who does that for her which is fine, because her talent is singing & dancing. Not all singers are songwriters/producers/composers. I just believe that people make her out to be phenomenal in all areas when she clearly isn’t besides singing & dancing. Her music post B’Day has been more of the same and either a hit or miss. Sasha Fierce & 4 were very meh and critically panned. BEYONCÉ (album) was more known and appreciated for it’s surprise drop than anything else. Lemonade is really her best project when it comes to solid lyrics, production, & composition. Renaissance is same old Beyoncé music just repackaged and produced to be Disco/Dance/House aligned. There’s nothing remotely standout or phenomenal about it besides that. To sum it up, she’s a entertainer (singing/dancing) but an average artist (songwriting/producing/composing).

Lady Gaga writes her own music. Before that, she wrote music for big name artists in the industry. Beyoncé on the other hand... let's put it this way: There are 104 credited songwriters for 'Renaissance'.
Yes, she can sing. But so can many others. So why does she get this amount of adulation?
I concede that her music shaped the musical landscape especially in the 2000s and 2010s. However, so have many others. And on top of that, 'her music' is not just *her* music, because back then she already had a lot of help and dozens of people doing the actual creative work for her. That in itself is not a bad thing - after all, many do it that way in the business.
It's just that B is idolized to a degree that is disproportionate to her actual skills.
Facts but i will disagree on her music shaping the musical landscape of the 2010s and acredit that to rihanna and nicki minaji .. those 2 have had more influence in the currently sound of music especially nicki with her influence on the sound of artists like doja cat, megan, and cardi b... at some point i feel like beyonce even wanted to sound like rihanna especially on songs like bow down bitches which was orginally written for riri.😂 even most song writers like sia loved writing for rihanna which made beyonce have her write for her too.. its crazy i genuinely do not understand the hyper around beyonce😂

Alright what gets me is the statement "Beyonce being overrated is objectivly not true, you are not real with yourself. Well then, I claim and stand by that Beyonce IS in fact objectively OVERRATED. Why? Lets explore it.
Something being overrated doesn't mean that its bad but implies something is getting more praise and recognition than it deserves according to the things actual merit. In music we can quantify this by the music being groundbreaking, the complexity of the music, the frequent output of music from the artist, their ability to perform it and their personal ability to write it.
First things first, Beyonce is a great performer, absolutely. Is her music groundbreaking and or complex to play, not really. It fits in rather well with the usual western pop sphere format for music. Complexity of a song is not a merit for quality but the ability to play and write complex music does show an understanding and mastering of the tools used to write the music. If you can write music difficult to play then you understand the building blocks for music regardless of the quality of the music.
Beyonce only puts out one album every few years and they are always around the 40 minute mark. It may not be a sign of genius to be able to put out an album every year like ACDC did back in the day, however just how creative and is she really when her contribution to the music sphere is 40 minutes approximately every 5 years?
So lastly, Beyonces ability to write music. Seriously just look at the credits list of just one of her albums. While Im fully aware that many of the credits are given due to sampling(which is fair enough) the fact that Beyonce wrote "If I were a boy" with a bunch of men says a lot to me because thats the song everyone is praising as the song only a woman could write and only Beyonce could be brilliant enough to write it. I do not doubt that Beyonce is involved in the process of crafting her own albums but to say that she is this genius song writing is very dishonest.
With all this said she absolutely has a voice in the pop scene and in the general western culture and Im not trying to take away that from anyone. However I did see just today that some tickets in my city for a Beyonce show goes for 3 000 dollars. And so with all Ive just laid out I do hope most of us can admit that "Queen B" might just be a bit overrated.
Beyoncé didn't write “If I were a boy” at all. It was written by BC Jean with Toby Gad. Jean's label passed on her recording of the song. She was unaware that Gad had proceeded to offer the song to other artists.
Excellent comment but let's be real: Beyonce is not that good of a performer. Her dancing is very sloppy. She just has power in numbers. It always works. The more people you have on stage, the easier it is to hide the mistakes. I was watching Whitney Houston concerts last weekend and Whitney Houston is actually a better dancer than Beyonce.

No one was going to go to a concert just to watch you stand there and sing songs. Oppositely, it's been said time and time again but it's the truth: Beyonce has no competitors. Her only rival would be Rihanna but they're not even in the same music genre nor carry the same aesthetic.
It's ironic because I like Beyoncé's music more than Rihanna's, but as an entire package, I find Rihanna far more entertaining. Rihanna's persona and style of dress changes with each album. She can't dance nor sing worth a lick, but you can tell she is having a good time and enjoying herself on stage. Additionally, you don't hear too many Rihanna fans swearing she's the greatest of all time. They just acknowledge her for who she is and that's it. So Rihanna would not be considered an overrated artist.
On the other hand, Beyoncé has been wearing the same blonde wig since Destined Child. Her style of clothing never changes too much. Her style of music changes but it's very trendy; it feels inauthentic. For example, when Black Lives Matter was an international movement, now she comes out with songs like "Brown Skin Girl" or lyrics like "I love my big nostrils". Like girl, bye. Your nose isn't even big. Then when her and Jay Z and Solange got into it, she writes one line in a song instead of actually addressing it to her fans. Additionally, her songs are extremely rude and offensive. "Bow down b*tches "? You've been singing and dancing literally since you were 9 or so and after nearly 30 years, that's the best you can write?

I have no social media to try and get clout on by saying that I also think Beyoncé is overrated. Objectively, she can clearly sing and she is a great entertainer/performer. But I personally don’t like her vocal tone and find it unenjoyable to listen to voice, despite liking some of the songs themselves (music, lyrics, etc.) I think there are far better singers out there who aren’t afforded the “cultural icon” label that Beyoncé’s fans give her. However, she clearly works hard, and she obviously has a fantastic publicist.

So, when I say this I'm not tryna be rude, but yes, Beyonce is really over rated. I mean, she has a good singing voice & she's a decent preformer, but that's where it all ends. She can't act or anything. She relies on soley on singing. A good chunk of her fanbase had put her on a god like status and it's really not needed.

Beyonce is a performer. She wasn't even the best vocalist in Destiny's Child, so to say her vocals are "iconic" is definitely a reach. Can she sing? Of course, but she's safe as hell, doesn't branch out of her norm and does little if anything creatively with her range. Going into the creative side, she's not lol. She's just not. She has entire teams of song writers, lyricists, choreographers, fashion designers, stage directors etc....all who are paid to write her "iconic" material or create her performances. I mean, for fucks sake she's even had issues with giving people album/creative credits.
All of that could be forgiven though if her fans didn't act like she was the second coming of Jesus, completely faultless and without sin. She's just a "good" performer. To hold her to the same standard as any of the other infinitely more iconic names throughout the history of music is to insult the concept of musicianship itself.

I also don’t think that we were or have been able to get more “Beyoncés” because of the industry idea there can only be one and the way her and her team horde resources for her use specifically. Her father and team took out her immediate competition early on and the girls have never been able to rally and regroup ever since. That being said, I think Renaissance has the potential To show us Beyoncé in an a way many have called for since she entered the scene, which is raw and getting emotional while also being completely original. I’m excited for the visuals of the album.
Her dad took advantage of those girls from DC. He lied and told them it would be a group where all the members would have equal singing and camera. But he knew from Day 1 he was using those underage girls to establish his mediocre daughter's career.

There have only been 3 BW artists to win Grammy for AOTY in the institutions 64 year history: Natalie Cole (1992) Unforgettable; Whitney Houston (1994) The Bodyguard Soundtrack; Lauryn Hill (1994) The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. There is also another important fact to note: Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, H.E.R. and Bey (IASF/Beyonce/Lemonade) have all tied for 3 albums each that have been nominated in the category for AOTY, if Renaissance receives an AOTY nomination, she will break the tie and be the only BW artist with 4 albums with an AOTY nomination with zero wins.
