This was actually the same show the Opeth video was filmed at. Both bands filmed full DVDs of this concert. And I was there.
I see Mario Duplantier as the best metal drummer ever.
Gojira is a liveband, their live music is better than the studio music. My favorite song is Backbone (live). It has the best headbang moment ever on a song.
I was at this show and there was a full lunar eclipse happening right behind the stage during the song "Shooting Star" right before this. That is what they are showing on the screen behind them I believe. The part Chels thought sounded like a synth was played on guitar, it was harmonics that made that sound.

Rememberance is the best🔥 that's where you see Christian Andreu and Jean-Michel headbang like crazy....and the song kinda Slipknot especially on the singing part I love it...
These guys were the OPENING ACT that night. Watch the whole concert. Unreal. They stole the show.
I believe that visuals for this particular one were created by Mario's wife. Also, due to hard hitting he broke his stick while performing this song. They decided to mask it really well but it's a nice touch. He took a new one in split seconds without falling off the beat. This band is phenomenal!
I'd be pleasured if you could take a listen of these two performances in the near future.

Remembrance (live @Hellfest 2006). Stellar performance, and first time I saw Gojira, it was epic.
Backbone (live @ Red Rocks as you've already seen this place).
Love (Live in Rio). These 3 songs are old school Gojira, you'll love them and the albums they're from.
But if you want something heavy, I'd suggest to react to Frontierer - Bleak or The Collapse or The Molten Larva. Few bands reach this level of intensity.
More Gojira is needed, try "The Cell" Live
The ending to this is just so damn heavy like everything Gojira does, it’s heavy as fuck.

Its not the distortion nor the tuning of the guitar it is the harmonics played on the E on the 3rd and 4th fret just lightly putting your left index on the string to mute it . Amazing band !!

The part she liked is indeed a guitar. When that part kicks in, i believe 1 of the 2 guitarists uses a pitch shifter pedal where everything will go an octave up, and he than slightly touches 1 or 2 strings on specific places on the neck which creates harmonics. Gojira uses this a lot on the album ‘Magma’. A good example is the title track itself ‘Magma’. You’ll here that there as well.
And for Mat, the studio album is a bit less enjoyable to me, it’s shorter and less spectacular than this Live version. Gojira is just so great live, what a wall of sound.
If she would like something heavier, i’d recommend
Remembrance - Link Alive concert (some og Gojira deathmetal), other great tracks are The Axe - Live at Brixton (again with harmonics), Ocean Planet - Live in Rio (i hear some Metallica in this one), Embrace The World - Link Alive (one of my favourites)
Also Oroborus - Eurockeenes concert (insane energy, i would go for this actually)

I know this is old but that live performance from Opeth was actually the same show. Gojira opened that night and they filmed both, Gojira just released their footage last year I think.
