I've always wanted to write my own Bobby Mcferrin, "Don't worry, be Happy" song. CHECK!! There is a part in the song that says "So many miracles are happening each day, if I can just get out of my own way.
That's a reminder for ME.
A few years ago, even though I had so many amazing things happening in my life, I was so caught up in things that were NOT going right, that I stopped appreciating the things that WERE going right. I would start making a habit of chasing the storms and not the sunlight, and started getting used to feeling sorry for myself. whenever bad stuff would happen to me, i would say things like "Yep, of course that would happen to ME and nobody else!!
I would always be waiting for something amazing to happen to me before I felt good about myself. "If I get that raise, THEN life would be amazing, or if I found the right spouse, or if I get that record deal, or if I win that contest, or got the new car, THEN things would be amazing. I was living in the future and NOT enjoying the PRESENT.
Things started to change for me when I came across a book called "The Magic of believing".
I started to change my way of thinking and realized that we don't have to wait for something amazing to happen. WE ALREADY ARE AMAZING!! I would say that to myself often and then i would start seeing amazing things happen in my life. so glad I found that little truth in my life. It has made ALL the difference.
Im learning now that when bad things happen out of our control, it can either leave us either bitter, or better for going through it. I once heard someone say, "Life can truly be bittersweet. But whatever you bring attention to, expands, so choose wisely."
This is a song about making the most and the best of life, whatever is thrown our way. Thanks for reading this far!!

A good friend shared this video with me. I had never seen it before. But I was just diagnosed with cancer and this video really picked me up. Now I watch it a lot just because it makes me smile.

I play this for my kids every morning before they leave for school. It turns all their funk into funky and they go from bitter to better as they brush off the yuck and get on the bus with a smile. It's so contagious the neighbor kids now come over to hear the song before they walk to the bus with my kids. yay Mr.Boye!! You make kids hearts sing instead of sink. Thank you.

I am someone who doesn't buy music... ever. Nothing I have heard playing on the radio ever seemed worth the effort of purchasing.

Every time I discover a new Alex Boye video it's like Christmas Morning for me! He's so amazing! His solo work is so inspired. It keeps a smile on my face and my mood upbeat. My english teacher just played this song. Throughout it I remembered all the good times in elementary, limited but still my favorites.
I remember when he came to my elementary school years back and when I heard this song it made me happy. My life wasn't the sweetest and still isn't but I'm making my way through it as the days pass. I still remember the bad days and it hurts so bad that I just feel so empty that I can't even go to bed in fear that they'll find me in my sleep. But I still have the small, happy memories to hold onto.
Sometimes you need bitter things to make sweet things, and sometimes you need both to keep on going.
Thank you for that amazing day at our school, even if it was years ago I still remember this song when I need it. You made my year. :)

No actually, I found Alex thru his collaborations with Piano Guys, and my Recommended started popping up his songs. Fantastic.
I heard of him because he did a live performance at a massive scout camp with a couple hundred scouts, and he sang this song, but the part about searching it is very true.
