There's something special about listening to songs as an adult when you finally understand what they say cuz you couldn't comprehend the lyrics as a kid.
I get a kick out of a series of videos of people in their 30s and 40s who listened to the music of the 70s and 80s as kids, but are now just taking the time to realize what they've been singing about since childhood. It cracks me up.
My age bracket had me hearing the 70s music as it came out. Listening on old AM radio until about 75, when we first started getting FM. We had the advantage of someone always having the latest albums with the lyrics to all the songs. On rainy days, we would sit and dissect every song until we knew and understood every word. Some stuff still went over our heads. But we'd catch on quick.
Oh what fun times those were.
If you want a true visual, think about Eric's basement on that 70's show. That was a 100% accurate description of friends regularly hanging out at one friend's house.

There were a lot of off label bands in my youth and young adult years we'd check out. That, Nope, taking a hard pass. Came out on quite a few random picks.
But sometimes you find a raw gem. Going through the off-labell records, is where I discovered Deep Purple. They put out a few great tunes. Several other bands that hit briefly in the charts in the 80s, were found in those off-label bands of the 70s.

I came to the USA to do my master's in 2012, and this song was hot new. Feeling homesick I always listened to this song to find some comfort. Till this day whenever I hear this song it reminds me of that time. Always close to the heart.
