- Return to YT with an exciting Zelda 2 speedrun! Sorry for the lack of content, I've been doing so many different things that YT got put on the backburner. I have a ton of content to get on here, so look for it in the coming weeks.
This category is getting all keys, spells, heart/magic containers and placing all 6 crystals to beat the game. I have lowered my time by over 3 minutes since I started back!

There are several playthroughs of it here on YT or you can wait for Lacks but it's available for anyone to download it online so you can play it as well. If you're a fan of the original I think you'll really like it.

26:09 holding down does nothing. Casting fairy while in air makes iron knuckle walk backwards. You don't even need to jump, just cast fairy while walking off the edge of the step 👍

@@LackAttack As a 30yo boomer myself I would say ANY "old" Zelda games. But also looking forward to other franchises like FF, Castlevania, Dragon Warrior, ...
If I'm thinking about my era (PS1), I would say Ninja - Shadow Of Darkness, got huge nostalgia for the game and it's underrated asf imo..

Didn't know you still ran this. We oughtta do a Florida State vs Clemson race of this before their game during football season next year or something. Like maybe before they play haha. I do PB attempts of this during fall. Just broke the 1:18:xx barrier but damn, looks like you've been puttin reps in on this.
And damn do you use a lot of splits for this haha.
Yeah I like the splits because it helps identify specifically where time losses occur. Doesn't really give me accurate sum of best though lol

I love the challenge of this game, it was the first game I beat with an NES Advantage joystick. I thought of my aunt, who got it for my brother and I one christmas, every time I used that controller.

A really good speedrun, glitchless. I did not like others where players go trought locked door with fairy without key
I'm not convinced that is a "glitch", as fairies are small and the keyhole is pretty large. Regardless, I'm glad you enjoyed the run!

One credit clear, a nod to arcade games, which means no game overs.

I didn't get that one. It's not required for 100%. There are 2 other dolls I didn't pick up. One in the south swamp near Kasuto and one in Great Palace

Link's Awakening has the side-scrolling bits as a gimmick. I wouldn't count it as wholly side-scrolling while a bigger majority of Link's Adventure is.

@LackAttack Elway was a special situation because he also had an offer to play pro baseball for the Yankees and thought the owner/management of the Baltimore Colts was bad (probably justifiably). There's a 30 For 30 special called Elway to Marino that talks about it. You also might be interested in it because it touches on why the Steelers didn't draft Dan Marino even though he was a hometown kid.

Huge fan of the original Zelda. I wanted to love this game back when it came out but I found it annoying and just disjointed for lack of a better word. Overall for me this game was a huge let down.
Definitely way different. I enjoyed both games as a kid, unique challenge for both
Sorry, no, MM's time system was just objectively bad game design. With tweaks it might've been ok, but at it was, it mandated repeatedly having to wait for schedules to lineup, and on a first playthrough resulted in constantly having to backtrack or outright lose up to hours of progress because of a missed window or having to redo tedious sequences over and over again. The limited save system was also archaic and clunky even for its time, and could cause intense frustration with lost progress due to something as simple as someone tripping over the power cord at a bad time.
On top of all of this, it features some of the most tedious and unsatisfying boss battles, heart pieces and other side quests that require extensive setup and excessive repetition to collect.. honestly after OOT it was a huge letdown for me, despite its dark story being novel and refreshing for the series as a whole.

Z2 is quite hot right now
Z2 and BOO aren't super similar, albeit both great games. I nostalgically play both on occasion. The casual run for BOO requires tons of olive 🫒 collecting which is probably what keeps it from being a 10/10
