- In this video, I show how to program the Homelink in your new Ram to 2 different typed of garage openers. There's no perfect procedure on how to do this, so be patient and try a few different methods and give each method a couple tries if you don't succeed the first time.

After watching several videos and their process not working, I came across this video and it worked like a champ. Thank you!
Awesome, glad I could help!
This is the video to watch. It took me two tries and got it to work. I would recommend watching the video twice to make sure you don’t forget any of the steps. Thanks for posting this video.
I watched and programmed the home link at same time. It’s simple.
I got this on the first go following your procedure on my
2022 3500 Big Horn Duelly. Thank you!
It worked just as you said. Thanks for making the video. I didn’t have time to read thru the whole booklet.
Great and simple instructions, works at first time I tried it!!!
Thank you for the video. I was having a difficult time with programming my new Dodge Ram homelink. Your post was very helpful.
Glad I could help!
Thanks Tony. That was as simple as you explained it.
This is the one! 2019 RAM 1500. Manual directions are all out of order. This took two tries and less than 5 minutes! You rock!
Glad I could help!
Thank you for making this video...I’d have never figured it out without you lol
Thank you for the vid. Helped in programming my grandfathers new 2020 1500.
This is DEFINITELY the best video on how to program homelink on a Ram 1500. Geeee zuussss there's some really bad videos out there. Mopar should hire you to make all their videos. Thank you Tony! Today, you're a hero bro!
Hahaha! Yeah and tbh I think I might make a revised version of this because I can explain it and show it even easier now. There’s so many different opener styles too, which doesn’t help.
@@TonyTheTruckGuy I hear ya but you explain it great compared to all the others out there. Knocked it out fast thanks to you. Liftmaster should hire you too! Thanks again sir!
Dude. Thanks. That worked flawlessly
Thanks man just did it. Great instruction 👍
You set the homelink with your garage door opener first . Then go use the learn button on the garage door opener. You have around 30 seconds. It has to be running or in the run position .
Thank you for this comment
Great video, thanks for the education/ demonstration
Thanks for the video! Worked in my 2020 Ram 2500
Worked exactly like you said. Thanks
Thanks for the info and easy video. Never could get the darn thing to work but it does now..
Haha! They can be finicky!
Thank you Tony saved me a lot of heartache.
Glad I could help!
Thank you sir! Great instructions
Got it first time. Thanks.
Thanks bro. This method works for 2021 Big Horn.
Work out great easy!
Kudos for the Parkway Drive intro music
It worked thanks
Thank you for this video! I was getting frustrated by trying to follow the MOPAR "official" video for my new 3500.
Thank you!👍🏼
Thanks Tony. I was getting frustrated trying to program our 2 vehicles. I got the wife to help. We got them programmed!
Thank you did not know I could program both doors
I programed the truck for both doors Thanks it worked
A true savior
Thanks so very much!!! My opener is even older than that one you have as mine is the old school lever code style and doesnt have a program button on the motor but the way you did the first door worked perfectly for me!!!
I’ve already programmed a garage for one of my houses and I want to do it for the other. If I hold the 1st and 3rd buttons will that reset the garage I already have linked?
Yes. How many buttons do you have programmed at the first house?
Thank you
Mine doesn't have a normal remote. It's just a key fob thing. Programmed fine with the Sienna. Won't program at all via any method I've found on the Ram.
This is for a Durango, but try this method! czcams.com/video/wiOeCdxqKdk/video.htmlsi=vbB5FrpcwPD88bIq
@@TonyTheTruckGuy Finally found a method that worked about an hour after I posted that. Had to hold the homelink button and the fob button at the same time. Until the light on the fob went off, and then reclick the fob button and hold until light went off, repeat. The home link button never did a fast flash. It went solid, and when it did it worked.
Even though the garage door has a learn button thing on it. Didn't have to mess with it (same as Sienna).
@@jago668 Glad you got it!
mine is turn on acc, hold the button and button on remote and after fast blink it works thanks!!
Thank you! Because the way he explained it didn't work for me. Your way did and was much simpler!
@@jymlewis we just got lucky our garage doors are simple, some are more complicated
is this possible without the garage remote ? that’s why i’m trying to link with trunk since i can’t fine the remote lol
You can TRY to do the procedure without a garage remote, and it may work depending on your garage motor, but I’m not sure. If that doesn’t work, you’d have to get just a cheap universal opener remote and program that first, then the truck like I show in the video.
I got it to program with just the remote. Didn't touch the main garage motor unit.
I got my garage door linked just fine. My neighborhood gate opener is not causing me problems. Homelink seems to not be able to learn the remote code. I have gotten other Homelink systems to learn the remote, but my truck is being a pain.
Dang yeah I’ve never tried programming a vehicle to a powered gate so unfortunately I can’t be of much help on that one
Do you leave the pickup in accessory while programming the remote as well?
Not sure if it’s actually required but I left mine in accessory just in case
Thanks
Does this still allow you to use your remote with vehicles that don't have anyway to link to the opener because they are older.
Yeah, your old school garage opener remotes will still work after pairing your homelink to the garage motor. Just be careful not to push the wrong button when doing the learn procedure on the garage motor, because you CAN clear out all saved/paired remotes to that motor if you do the wrong button sequence on the motor.
@@TonyTheTruckGuy thank you.
What if I DON’T have a working remote!?
You can TRY to just push the home link button you want programmed while the garage motor is in learning mode, but if that doesn’t work, you may have to just buy a cheap universal remote and program that first, then come back to the home link.
Thanks for posting this video. Worked first try for me. Following the instructions that came with my truck did not work.
Yeah it seems they can be a bit finicky haha
All I did was reset till it was flashing then hold my garage door down then open it with the one on the truck and it worked
This is what i did. Just held the remote and the home button and it programmed.
Hey, Tony. I have a 2019 Ram 1500, but for some reason, I'm not able to program my truck with my garage door mechanism. It's a fairly new Liftmaster. I did everything you said to do, but it still won't work. I'm not sure what the issue could be. Any suggestions?
Do you have a normal garage opener remote and have you successfully paired the remote with the home link in the truck like I show around the 2:50 mark?
@Tony The Truck Guy Yeah, I have the same Liftmaster remote that you have, and as far as I could tell, I was able to pair the remote with my truck's home link. Then, when I test the truck's garage door button, the garage door doesn't open.
If you're comfortable with doing a video chat, whenever it would be convenient for you, then as you watch me follow your steps, hopefully, you'll be able to notice something that I haven't.
@@BennyChains88 I can definitely do that if it comes to it! I just work goofy hours and work late so we will try to talk it out first. Ok so if the home link button flashed rapidly when you held the lift master remote next to it, then it SHOULD be programmed to your remote code. I think I got a bit ahead of myself in the video and I pushed the learn button on the motor before I paired the remote with the home link. The correct order is to pair the remote with the home link as you have done, THEN hit the learn button on the motor and just hold the home link button down in the truck without using the original lift master remote at all. Also double check and see if your garage motor has 2 learn modes like mine did where I had to push the button twice. Let me know if any of that works. I also have a Facebook page if you wanted to make a post to show me your garage motor that you’re working with or maybe a video of you trying to do the procedure so I can see what’s going on.
@Tony The Truck Guy Okay, thank you! I'll try doing what you suggested. If that doesn't work, I'll take photos and make a video, and will ask my wife to upload it to Facebook since I don't have a Facebook page. Thanks again.
@@BennyChains88 Sounds good! Good luck!
What controller did you use
Controller for what? The garage opener I had was just the one I was already using for the garage door. The one that came with the door, old school clicker.
Mine didn't light up so I think mine is broke. I'll just grab another garage door opener
Sometimes that is the easiest option haha
I have the learn button but I don’t have a working opener receiver to put it beside my visor. Anyone know what I can do?
I guess you can try the procedure without a receiver, otherwise if that doesn't work, you'll have to go to the hardware store, target, etc. and get a universal door opener for $10-20. Program that by simply pushing the learn button on the garage motor like I show here, and then I believe you just hold the button down on your new remote. Once the remote is programmed, you can then program the truck.
@@TonyTheTruckGuy Thank you so much sir, Happy New Year! Best wishes ahead for 2022!
@@MKMENON_ You as well, thanks!
My opener doesn't have a learn button. So I skipped that step and just used the remote and home link button. Worked first try.
Nice! Yeah there’s so many different styles
Mine slow flashes, after trying to set a gate opener. Anyone knows what that means
The home link light in the truck slow flashes? Always, or while holding the button down?
@@TonyTheTruckGuy after holding the remote button on homelink and visor remote, homelink flashes slowly. I let go. It goes out.
@@moth450 Hold the 2 outer home link buttons for 30 seconds until light flashes rapidly to clear it out and then try again. Also I need to upload a newer video. The correct way to do it is to hold down the home link button you want to program at the same time as your original garage door transmitter. Then the home link will hyperflash indicating it’s programmed to the same code as the original receiver. THEN you push the learn button on n your garage motor and hold down the home link button again. This pairs the home link to the motor.
ahh, thank you. i was about to beat my head against the wall.
I know the feeling 😂
Is there not a way to do this without having a remote receiver? That defeats the whole purpose. If I had one of those, I’d use it.
Not that I’m aware. The point of the homelink is so you have an integrated garage remote built into the vehicle.
@@TonyTheTruckGuy Yes, I just don’t want to have to buy a garage remote in order to program my truck and not have to use the remote again. Seems like a waste of money, but maybe other vehicle manufacturers have a better way of pairing the car straight to the garage door opener without having to use a remote.
@@RallyeGuy340 Possibly. You can TRY holding both outer homelink buttons at the same time until the red light hyper flashes to clear out anything stored. Then put your garage motor in learn mode and hold the homelink button you want to program. If that doesn’t work, I don’t see any way other than the way I showed.
Thanks man that’s some bs bc ram has there own CZcams video that didn’t explain it like you and the instructions on the garage panel was also false
Yeah I think there's just so many different styles of garage doors.
@@TonyTheTruckGuy the funny thing it was the exact same garage door
It would be a lot easier to see what you were doing, if you would shut off the damn dome light.
My dome light wasn’t on 😂
