I agree with you, partially. The scenes where Erik just brazenly walks in through front doors and dismantles automatic guns in to their components on the floor when he is about to be fired at, is early hints of the insanely formidable force he very quickly becomes.
Honestly I’d have loved a short series of them doing commando raids band of brothers style. The Cold War had A LOT of wet work and espionage going on for the whole thing and I think it was a waste to just focus on the Cuban Missile Crisis.
That would’ve been a good spinoff, but the story this movie tells is interesting.
I never realised before but Erik was lucky Charles went in after him because without Charles he would have had absolutely no defence against Emma’s telepathy

All Erik would need to do is shatter the illusion that Shaw is this liberator by remembering the full scene with his mother

Tying guys up in barbed wire is simply brutal.
It would be, but that's not what he did. You are looking at concerntina wire. Much sharper, much worse to get stuck in. Take it from a guy who both deployed it and has gotten a humvee stuck in it.
It's not that bad, depending on how tight it is. The barbs aren't that sharp and their clothes are protecting them from the worst of it. Depending on how tied up they are, they could probably get themselves out without much fuss
...you've clearly never deployed concertina wire. We have to wear metal gloves to keep it from shredding our palms. Getting strung up like that is absolutely 'that bad'. @@rileyhaynes2515

Magneto’s magnetism is such a brilliant power to create in comics. There so much metal in the world that you can essentially control everything.
There’s even iron in the blood of humans which he could and has also manipulated

The amount of magnetic power it'd take to manipulate iron in your blood would affect nonferrous materials, which is why comic magneto has so much power, he control electro magnetism one of the four fundamental forces of the universe

Even Erik knew he wasn't part of any human group, he only helped when it would benefit him to get to Shaw.
I love the smirk on Erik's face when he says "I'm not CIA." - well played, Erik. Well played. Michael Fassbender and Ian McKellen are the GOAT actors to play Magneto (excluding the animated shows, as I've not properly seen either of them).
Most of the animated versions of Magneto between 2000-2010 have voices based on Ian McKellen's performance.

Whilst X-Men Origins Magneto didn't happen, X-Men First Class does properly feel like a whole movie about Magneto and a whole movie about the X-Men.

As someone who once foolishly tried to climb through some barbed wire, it would hurt them a lot.
Sometimes we learn things the hard way. I got stuck, because it was gripping my flesh, hair and clothes. I wasn't wearing as much clothes as those people, my arms were uncovered.
