@Michael Knowles, Mat Rife doesn’t do mostly crowd work. He only uploads crowd work because he thinks it is unfair for his audience to pay for to watch him say jokes that they already saw on CZcams.
Michael has his taste and that's fine, but there's one objectively wrong point he made. Rife uses pauses very well, and in stand-up, you HAVE to let the joke breathe. You can keep going from punch to punch and be fast and hilarious, but you will have people miss jokes because they couldn't hear over their own laughter. And, in certain jokes, you NEED the pause to let the joke set in (think dark humor). Without it, it loses some of it's touch because the pause and realization makes it.

Hey Michael, I'm glad I stuck around for the bonus footage with Key & Peele, because it shows your take on Matt Rife perfectly. It's obvious that either you haven't seen enough of his work, or you just don't get it. The guy is only about 25-28, but has been struggling doing stand-up since he was 15. So, in stand-up years, he is already "old and grizzled" as you say he needs to be. But you're also wrong about that. First off, he is the GOAT of crowd work, and his meteoric rise to fame due to his crowd work shorts on TikTok and CZcams confirms that in a big way. And he is not only the most sincere and honest stand-up comic with a huge heart of gold to come along in decades, but his comedy is based in reality, not the delusional world we live in these days. And even his Netflix special, which didn't include any crowd work but was just scripted, wasn't bad either. In fact, if you haven't been living under a rock for the past few months since it aired, you are aware that he not only took a good deal of heat from the "cancel crowd" for his hilarious opening joke, but he was even less apologetic with his reaction to their selective outrage, which would cause you to respect him immensely. (Check out Matt's incredible interview with your own colleague, Jordan Peterson to see exactly what I'm talking about.) As far as his looks, and you saying you have never seen a good-looking comedian, I'm just getting ready to watch your reaction video to Anthony Jeselnik, of whom I've been a fan for decades. And I don't know if you did that one before or after this Matt Rife video, but Jeselnik is drop dead handsome. And his dark (and I mean DARK) humor is hilariously twisted. If a show with your name on it gets cancelled by Comedy Central, as his was after merely two seasons, you know your humor is dark. I only hope that you get his humor and have a higher opinion of him than you do of Matt Rife. If not, you really need to lighten up and get a sense of humor. It's no wonder that your show is the one I watch the least on the DW+, as you're way too serious for your own good.

Matt Rife is refreshing, Michael. Believe us! :)
He’s very handsome❤ that and his sick sense of humor make me swoon 😂
Nah, he looks feminine.
Matt has said himself he wasn’t always so handsome 😂
So I am watching this around 1:50am, and I want to laugh so hard starting 2:43 of the video hahaha
MIchael you are the weird one there LOL
I love how he has NO problem going after the snowflake cry babies! It's tough when he goes into Christian jokes, but again, he's an equal opportunity offender. How he can come up w jokes during interaction is pretty awesome.
I actually do like "laughing at your own jokes." Like anything, it can be done wrong, but generally speaking I find it charismatic. Kinda like the person is on the same level with you, finding the same things funny that you do.
(Check out Matt's incredible interview with your own colleague, Jordan Peterson to see exactly what I'm talking about.)
As far as his looks, and you saying you have never seen a good-looking comedian, I'm just getting ready to watch your reaction video to Anthony Jeselnik, of whom I've been a fan for decades.
He was quick with that transportation comeback
Can’t miss Knowles. He is Mr KNOW(les)for a reason😂❤
