Thanks so much for your interest in my videos and my brand "TheSalonGuy". It means the world to me! Watch celebrity Red Carpet Interviews, Fashion Events, Hair Shows, Celebrities, Motivation, Inspiration, Hair Tutorials, How To's, Education and videos in the Salon and Beauty Industry.
I started TheSalonGuy brand after the passing of my Mother and discovering a role model of mine who has a few books on turning your passion into a business. I have spent the last 20+ years in the salon industry, tech and fashion. I left the industry at some point to become a Fireman and Aux. Police Officer. I did 6 years service and resigned shortly after 9/11.
I have a passion for helping people, educating and motivating. I work with major brands, local businesses and individuals looking to expand and grow.
My videos will be focused on celebrity hairstyles, athletes, models, actors, social media stars and event videos. - Jak na to + styl
I went to a local Barber asking to thin my hair and even demonstrated how to do it. They just cut everything off. 6 months of hair growth progress lost.
😂
Lmao
I hope you didn't pay 😂🥺 so relatable
:D this is why you should visited a hairstylist NOT a barber. Big difference 🤣
😂😂😂😂
You did allow me to cut my own hair better than I ever got it cut by a barber or salon. I always have a friend do the back though! Thanks man
I found a bunch. If barbering equipment on the side of the road and I came here for the help
Every haircut I've had in multiple places have completely ruined my hair so I've just been doing it myself since more than a year and now I've gotten much better at it. Saves a lot of money and I feel so confident!
I found this video extremely helpful. I have a suggestion for the video editing aspect. It’s helpful to see a before and after. It will show off just how much of a difference you’ve made. I also felt like I wanted to see just how much hair you cut off.
Every other aspect of the video was very well done and I am subscribing!
I have curly hair and high density hair so styling it with a comb is really hard even with conditioner or water to soften the hair strands, this vid helped me a lot and now know the solution to it only matter is there are no professional stylists or barber who knows how to do this in my town.
real
Thank You Sir For This Dark Background. it is so nice of you that you listen to your viewer's. soo soothing to watch now. :D
Thank you for the info! I do get my hair professionally cut, but it’s so thick and grows so fast I’d have to go every 3 or so weeks! Within about 3 weeks it starts to weigh down and get greasy really quickly because it’s so heavy. I want to be able to do a touch up in between cuts. Thank you!
this is so helpful, i cut my own hair for maintenance since i have very short hair that i can’t afford to constantly get fixed up. saving my bank over here
I have thick hair and they always want to thin out my hair but the hair doesn't bother me unless it's hanging in my eyes. The length of the hair weighs it down. I tried thinning out my bangs but it's temporary. Your hair always goes back to how it was naturally.
exactly my problem
Sad bu true
You are lucky, they just tell me to cut it off😂 must be the gender differences
@@mikkey246 It's easier to manage longer hair because gravity weighs it down. I just put it in a ponytail and wash it. It's not a lot of work. It's your hair so they shouldn't be telling you what to do with YOUR hair!
It's better business for them to keep coming back for frequent haircuts which short hair requires!
Nice gud for you one time i tried to cut my hair that mistake still haunts me when I look in the mirror as I can no longer it properly, even asked my barber to fix it but he just cuts usually and yeah didn't helped at all
Thank you so much for all your videos I learned a lot😀
You're AWESOME. Thank you for all of your tips and techniques - and for sharing them with us!
Thanks man, this is helpful when you dont want barbers to cut too much 🙏🏽
Be wary if a stylist suggest thinning your hair. New one did that to me today, I now look like I have a thin hair problem! And my hair was thick. I think I just needed a few layers, but she went to town in just 3 quick zips! It will take a good year to regrow the damage she did today.
I totally agree, but sometimes the barber never listen to their clients and still doing what is not supposed to do with the customers hair.
and it costs the person with trust issues reason why they cut their own hair.
What if I straighten the really thick, ample hair, and then thin it? Will it turn out like what you explained in your video?
Your video is awesome! Love your communication style. Genuine.
What is the best way to use thinning shears on the top of your hair? I usually clip the slides of my hair but may need to thin the top.
I did go to my hair stylist just around a month ago and asked her to thin my hair, since she really loves my hair, she usually doesn't thin almost anything at all so I had to tell her to continue thinning like 5 times and she still didn't thin it enough. So my point is thank you for that video, going to try doing that myself very soon. 『I'll edit this comment when I do to tell how it went』
did you finish tinning your hair or r u still going ? cus i think you wont have any more hair if you continue tinning ‘em
I know how to thin my hair but if I so much as trim a strand she notices and says something -
@@ae_ehrt it's not like that, my hair is naturally very thick so I can say even after thinning I still have a lot..
I’m getting ready to thin my husbands bulky thick strait hair. Your video is amazing. Thank you
Finally, someone who understands my hair problem is.
I love your hair man!
Enjoyed your video!
What should i tell the barber if i wanna thin it out? And how can i know if he does a good job before he is done? Thank you so much love your vids
Very helpful! Thank you!
I love how this man made a whole career on something he never had...
He had a wonderful long hair back then
Thank you for this great video!!! Super helpful!!!:)
Amazing thank you man I love your hair techniques. I’m just wondering if u can do an Amithabh Bachchan hairstyle from the 70s because I really like the length and style of era. Thank you
Thanks for sharing your video 👌 it's actually helping me to thin out my boyfriends hair. I'm not clueless to hair at all lol I have the thinning shears too but I just wanted to reassure myself that I'm doing it correctly which I've been 😊 so I'll keep going! Thanks again!

Great to hear n thx
Can you please suggest me a versatile haircut that can go with many hairstyles.. such as 90's leonardo dicaprio hairstyle, korean fringe hairstyle..
Since your cutting the underside of the hair or any wear really, will the short hair folucules become frizzy hair or will that hair become kinda like baby hair. Sticking out ?
I watched a vid of yours a few years ago and I still cut my own to this day
Amazing, thank you for the video!!!!!
Thank you so much!! Unfortunately I have to do it myself because where I live (Chile) no stylist know how to thin out hair.
I’m in Florida, it’s hard to find a professional to do it here too.
I've tried and tried to tell my stylist to thin my hair in the back and sides. She just doesn't do it. I've never seen her use the thinking sheers or razor. I finally bought a razor and have started trying it myself after watching your videos. It's a little better but the back is so hard to do.
Your channel is a miracle 😂😂
The haircuts I get are always disconnected. I have short hair with layers and the hairdressers I have used can't seem to get the top of my head to blend in with the sides. Do you have any videos on this?
Can you maybe make a video on how to turn straight hair into curly/wavy hair at home easy because i have straight hair but i want a bit more messy curly wavy hair?
Hello sir I hope that you can read my comments I hope that you do more videos about improving a hairstyles with having a flat back head/ the sculp. Thank you so much.. ❤❤❤
Okay so the back of my head at the top of mt head is really really thjck to the point where when I flatten it on the top of my head it creates a bump of hair, so I’m not really sure what to do because the front of my hair is good and thick but I’m not sure what to do at the back because it’s long and thick and i don’t want it
This guy is the best
When he said "one, good luck"
I was like okkkkk you don't have to guilt me bruh 😂😂
I have a lightly layered (meaning long layers) bob now and the stylist used texturing shears. Is it normal to use texturing shears on a bob? I usually like my hair having body and now it doesn't.
I want to thankyou so much, your videos have really helped me. Since the first lockdown in the UK I have been following all your videos on layering short hair. And although it's taken a little time, I had never cut my own hair before, I'm getting there. I'm far more happy with my results than the salon I used to go to, not to mention the hundreds of pounds im saving! So thanks again Steve. ❤
I went to hair dressing school I graduated but did not take my boards because it really wasn't my love in life now I'm older and in a wheelchair and I have to cut my own hair because we just lost our wonderful hairdresser or 15 years who really could cut hair well at a good price I'd look over five years for a decent hairdresser none to be found😮 many don't know how to cut hair and they say they do and you'll leave and lots of money and you're not happy😮 thank you for your videos I have to take care of this will be perfect for me❤
What if your hair is wavy, what can you do? My hair so.. thick and I get bad headaches but I want to keep growing it out.
Hey,I am a subscriber from India.Sir,I have fine to medium naturally straight long hair.I want some short layers on the front to give volume as nothing much can be done on straight hair if you don't style them the cut would not be prominent.I don't use products and want natural way to increase volume in the front without losing much hair length.kindly make a video on this with long hair dummy.
Yo stephen how long would you say the Tidal Wave lasts if i use it everyday like 10 sprits
@TheSalonGuy can you please do a tutorial on Jacob Rott's haircut
Thank you I needed this my hair is SUPER thick
Yes I want to feel the breezes move my har around
Can you please do a Baylen Levine hair tutorial
I need this technique on longer or waist length hair. I wanna take out weight without losing length. it's just so heavy, combing is frustrating and I just wanna CHOP. 😫
hello sallon guy i hope u read this and gonna answer me i know u mde a hairqtyle of dylan obrians hair but can u do again dylan obrien but has teen wolf hairstyle i really want it but idk how to do it please
Perfect, exactly what I needed.
My hair gets so thick, I could go back to have it thinned every 60 days Im sure.
Doing it myself will save a lot of cash.
Thanks again
Please do how to fix bad layers on a haircut. I really need the video
I love how it’s a bald guy telling us how to thin out hair
Thnx!
Thank you
What about thinning out thick wavy hair?
I'm looking for the same
My thick hair annoys me so much, it’s such a pain 😭 I want short hair but it seems like there are just no haircuts that are good for my hair. I what to just shave it all off at this point. I desperately need recommendations.
so my hair is like this but every strand of hair growa towards my nose like every strand of hair loves my nose how to i fix this if i cant comb it the other way
Fucked op once thinnen my own hair this really helped with it
a stylist once told me its a bad idea to thin out long hair on men because of all the different lenghts i would end up with, is this true? how would someone with very thick hair go on about making it a bit lighter?
That’s the point, to have different lengths to make it less heavy man
😅that snicker with the good luck😅😅😅😅 that shit was funny
Thank you for this video sir😎 What would you suggest for thick curly hair , as my hair gets really poofy and I want to take some volume off but I didn’t know how to do it , I’ve had this same techniques done but all it does is create layers and that doesn’t help me.
Wondering the same thing
Same Problem
My hair is just like the head you used today, I'm going to try that myself!
I can see using it somewhat in the back. But if you got that kind of hair, LEAVE IT. It looks hot and wild. Of course it's your decision but all I'm saying is that it's awesome
Don’t do it yourself… go with someone with training and show this technique
@@ego6342 it is awesome but, since my hair grows like a weed, I need the back thinned out alot because I like to spike it up at the back
What size shear do you recommend
Heyo great vidddd
How about thinning it from the base
Anyway to do this with curly hair?
Hello, can you make a video about Nero(from devil may cry 5) haircut/hairstyle?
I have thick hair, with a double crown, somewhat curly, if I thin out my hair, will it cause frizz?
Will it make it shorter if you’re wanting long hair
"always go to professional"
Me: okay I come to you wait.
Mine is so thick. I used to thin it out when it was long. Now it is shorter and I was afraid to try. Thanks for this video.
ok how do you do this on curly or slightly curly hair?
Ure the boss , u solvt my problèm thanks bro
Does this work on all hair textures? My hair is so thick I’m the front
What did you do for your hair. It looks like you have hair. Is it colored on or tattooed. Very curious. It looks like you have a hair line of a high schooler
I have curly hair and i want to reduce weight how can i do it,
How often can you do this? For ex: every 6MON- or as needed etc.
I figure I’m going to start doing it my self, I feel like last time I got it done I felt my hair still heavy.
Think it depends on how fast your hair grows. I do it myself once it starts to look like my hair is puffing out. I would just keep an eye on how crazy your hair is getting and do it once it's too damn poofy
@@Jacksonnnnnnnnnnnnn Will do. Thank you! Which means all times, craziness lol
@@tracyjasmine9180 I do it as needed, once it starts to irritate me I do it again, my hairs grows in thick and fast so about once a month for me!
Salon guy I am growing out my hair can you give me some tips
Thick hair and high hairline? Perfect video for me
I stopped going to stylists years ago because they all hated cutting my freakishly thick hair
Hairdressers love those thining shears. The first thing I tell a hairdresser is NO THINING SHEARS in my hair. The last thing I need is a million different layers in my curly hair. That’s a nightmare. Why don’t they know that already. And if they insist on point cutting, I’m outta there!
Same! I had an awful haircut a few years ago due to thinning shears. Chopped my curls all up😬
@@Krysb107 hey that just happened to me, do you know what to do about it?? Or do i just wait until it grows back?
This comment is so rude. Your hair is not everyone else’s hair. You seem like such an expert, maybe you should cut your own hair
@@siejaraslampour4195 My “curls” or what was left of them were in shock for a few weeks but thankfully my hair grows fast. I just did a lot of cute updos until it grew out a bit and I was able to work with it again.
@@shayshay4372 Her comment isn’t rude. She knows her hair and wants it cut a certain way with certain techniques and that’s ok. I always ask they don’t use thinning shears on my hair because it ruins the curl pattern. Nobody wants to walk away looking like Edward Scissor Hands went wild 🤣
You never win a challenge or stood a chance to win with this guys when it's come "don't touch your hair challenge".
Thx bro
I have thick hair, and I want it to straighten but I don't know how to do it.
i have the same thick hair as that doll lol!!
How long it takes to grow back?
would you recommend using a relaxer to straighten hair as thick as the one in this video or would it damage it too much?
Way to damaging the hair is fine it will fry it off maybe a keratin smoothing treatment
Can it be used on beard?
Okay- but my hair is only curly after I take out a little weight? Is that okay?
BTW - good video !
Tbh I trust you with my life lol
In your video from June 1 you said you are not a fan of the multiple light chomps, instead you let the hair fall and do one big chomp. Here you use multiple small cuts. Which one is better? Why are you using light cuts now?
different type of cut, different technique
What can be done about bulky curly hair? I’m desperate with my stylist on vacation and he doesn’t trust anyone with my hair 😅
my brother in christ you are a legend
I already have thin hair and my barber always thin me more. I always told him that i want thick hair and he always thin my hair. I change barber almost every time and they are all the same
Y'all thinning your hair and Here's me tryna make my hair look thicker 😂
would this work with wavy hair if you straighten it before you thin it out?
Yes
