Ye[a] (/jeɪ/ YAY; born Kanye Omari West /ˈkɑːnjeɪ/ KAHN-yay; born June 8, 1977) is an American rapper, songwriter, record producer, and fashion designer. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential hip hop musicians and producers as well as one of the greatest musicians of his generation.
Born in Atlanta and raised in Chicago, Illinois, West initially gained recognition as a producer for Roc-A-Fella Records in the early 2000s, producing singles for several artists and developing the "chipmunk soul" sampling style. Intent on pursuing a solo career as a rapper, he released his debut studio album, The College Dropout (2004), to critical and commercial success. He founded the record label GOOD Music later that year.
West explored diverse musical elements like orchestras, synthesizers, and autotune on the albums Late Registration (2005), Graduation (2007), and 808s & Heartbreak (2008). Drawing inspiration from maximalism and minimalism respectively, his fifth and sixth albums My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (2010) and Yeezus (2013) also received critical and commercial success. West further diversified his musical styles on The Life of Pablo (2016) and Ye (2018) and explored Christian and gospel music on Jesus Is King (2019). After multiple delays, his highly anticipated tenth album Donda (2021) was released to continued commercial success, but to mixed critical reception. He released its sequel Donda 2 (2022) a few months later, exclusively through a tie-in audio speaker service. West's discography also includes the full-length collaborative albums Watch the Throne (2011) with Jay-Z and Kids See Ghosts (2018) with Kid Cudi.

I want Kanye to get help, I do not want him to keep hurting himself. It hurts to see the person you grew up on just constantly hurting himself, but also not having the right people around him. The RIGHT people would constantly help him with his mental health. Not everyone is perfect, but no one should be hurt mentally nor physically :)
The problem is that Kanye will fire those people for checking on him but it’s sad that people you’d think are his friends like Pusha T just ignore this shit

fr well made
i think the kanye issue is very complicated. there isn't a point you made that i don't agree with in principle, but at the same time i don't want to use bipolar as an out. the reason i don't think it can be for someone like kanye is that he has the diagnosis but given the things he says, he's not doing therapy, he's not taking medication etc so he's going around with untreated bipolar switching between long manic and depressive episodes over the years.
if he's not even trying to get better then i don't really see it improving any time soon
Tldr: slavery is a choice. 😂😂😂
The video is well thought out and voiced so elegantly. As a non practicing Jewish woman with Bipolar 1 (and former Kanye fan), I feel like you touched on the antisemitism and celebrity reactions perfectly. But on bipolar, I understand that paranoia all too well, but those thoughts come from somewhere. While there are other self-interested actors influencing Kanye and using him to spew their hate speech, he truly does believe these things. Paranoia comes from somewhere. The small correct talking points are overshadowed by his non-empathic, ignorant, and hateful words. I don't think trying to bring the few based points he's made is helping. It feeds into conspiracy theorists. One right thing can show how he can be right in general. His bipolar is not an excuse. The things I've said in the past while manic still reflect on my character to the people I've said that stuff to. But I'm not a celebrity, I'm not Kanye West. He needs to be held accountable and take his meds.
Thank you for the comment!
Former kanye fan?
Keep your trap shut, kindly, “former Kanye fan”. He said nothing wrong. Not even a word.

The most victimised ethnicity? Thats up for debate...
“The most victimized ethnicity in the history of humanity” wow thats definitely not true but I understand why you would think so and I still love your videos.
Yea I thought the same. Definitely far from the truth.
Bro Jewish people are not the most persecuted 😂
I know right I was like wtf
Even in ww2 blacks and asians were being cut open and experimented on
"More outrage has become nothing more than a cheap trend" you hit the nail on the head with this one!
The most victimized group in the history of humanity? Bro comments like this is why the black community is rocking with Kanye on this and why the Christian community will too.
Amen to that.
As someone who’s been diagnosed bipolar, I completely understand Kanye’s perspective on the paranoia and the delusions. Going through mania is essentially like putting your brain into a blender and scattering your thoughts. You’re not only incoherent, but your own thoughts are unreliable. It truly feels like everyone around you is out to get you and that you’re at the mercy of rash, euphoric emotions. The difference between someone like me and someone like Kanye is that I’m medicated and don’t feel mania as much anymore. Kanye needs to treat his mental illness if he ever wants to be taken seriously again.
No the thing is, Kanye has always spoken in a very line of thought kind of manner. Combined with the fact he speaks very emotionally and is a very creatively divergent thinker, people think he's batshit crazy simply because he doesn't suit the status quo of what you'd imagine a thinker or how a figure would express themselves.
Black people have called Kanye out about saying slavery was a choice. There was the infamous TMZ video of him getting dressed down by it. But there are others willing to stick by and support him through it. That’s why he got away with it. Because there was always a contingency willing to look the other way while supporting him.
Because he’s never been wrong.
When he says slavery was a choice people just pick that whole quarter part without looking at what he said before and after and used it as a sound bite. He wasn't wrong, and I am saying this as a black man. We all have to get out of this slave mentality.
@@mider-spanman5577 People have examined it and still found it wrong. If slavery was a "choice", why were there slave revolts, escaped slaves, abolitionist movements, and a war where escaped slaves fought for the North? And that's not considering the many enslaved Africans that jumped off the boats to their deaths from slave ships coming off the Atlantic. The words come from a man that openly states he doesn't read books. And it definitely sounds like someone who doesn't.
There were always a spirit of rebellion against the "slave mentality" and Kanye for his ignorance, did not acknowledge it.
@@jwcarroll6378 Not wrong he literally meant the choice of slave mentality today and literal Africans back then did make slavery a choice by refusing to go on land. Speaking the truth about who owns all the industries black entertainment comes out of is another fact and he’s always been right about it. Cope about facts that he once said something 4 years ago but now he’s obviously right that they had to prove him so while you worked up about reality, definitely cope. Kanye acknowledges facts and says what he wants, read those books while he’s standing ten toes after all his deals fell through beta.
@@jwcarroll6378 keep it real with you not anyone cares he pointed out the slave mentality in 2018, now he’s speaking the truth you can only cope about that
while kanye’s behaviour can to an extent be credited to a bipolar episode, it is wrong to use that as an excuse for the things he is saying. these are things he truly believes and imo his expression of it is more so the result of the bipolar episode rather than the actual viewpoint
being due to a bipolar episode.
@@arigrey8499 Wasn’t criticizing this video specifically, just giving my general thoughts

I don't agree that celebrities saying "I stand with Jewish people" is just self-righteous grandstanding. There are millions of people out there who agree with Kanye's antisemitic views. As a Jewish person, it's genuinely reassuring for me to hear that people are on my side, believe I have a right to exist, and think it's worth saying it out loud. Having said that, there's a lot I agree with in this video, especially the part about everyone's right to be seen as an individual, and that unfettered capitalism is turning us all into victims.
Ironic that a Jew of all people is talking about “unfettered capitalism”. How about you tell that to your buddies who own the banks?
Kanye never said you shouldnt exist, jesus, it’s not even about you stop being so dense
I think the point is that sadly most people don't care that much about a negative opinion that doesn't involve their people. People with those views exist in our everyday life and there's no story to tell. It's not that celebrities can't care that something racist is said, it's just very convenient that it can make yourself look good by speaking out against it when another figure stirs controversy.
Did Kanye ever say that you shouldn't exist? What exactly did he say that got everybody so upset that was false?
I agree with Kanye
I don’t think you can call Kanye greedy, no greedy person would purposely say things that would eliminate a large amount of their wealth and be okay with it, he hasn’t seemed upset in anyway about having lost hundreds of millions of dollars
many billions
He wanted to leave those deals
He hasn't come down yet
Agreed
Except i honestly didn't get the idea he actually thought they would all drop him, he even said so himself. Him losing money doesn't mean he is not greedy, because we don't know that he knew or expected the financial, consequences he would have, because he thinks he is essential to these brands, and it's not like he purposefully gave up or gave away any of his money.
I found the video very respectful and well written, I wouldn't dislike it even if I didn't like it

I thought most of the video was pretty good, but I feel like you were very charitable with his take on abortion. Most of the time I've heard him speak on abortion it's been from a very Christian "pro-life" angle. I can't remember him ever talking about finding alternatives to abortion, but many times, especially recently, he's been comparing abortion to murder and even the Holocaust. I feel like you totally glossed over all of the awful parts of his takes on it.
It's a holocaust in the black community. Abortion clinics were strategically placed in our communities and the procedure was created with eugenic intentions. Rather than providing women in these communities with resources they heavily pushed women to get abortions. Educate yourself.
All of it is true. Millions of innocents die from abortion each year, not just the children. Abortion is the new Holocaust. Abortion IS murder. Cope, seethe, mald.
Show your nose
He literally said he doesn’t want to outlaw abortion and wants to build monasteries where orphans can learn USEFUL skills such as carpentry, coding, farming, etc. Inform yourself before you criticize.
Look at the abortion rates for black people in america and even all other races, its a tragedy the way our economic system is set where it encourages it for lower income families

As someone who also suffers from bipolar disorder, I feel like I must reiterate how mind altering mania can be. Mania comes in different severity but it usually flairs up during stressful moments. During mania there is little to no control over what the mind does how it reacts to anything. Something that can often be overlooked is that a person in mania is PHYSICALLY UNABLE to understand that they might be wrong, as in they are always right and anything that goes against them is either wrong or out to get them.
such a well thought out video, appreciate this type of insight on such a tricky topic!
this is ur best video bro. resubscribed after 3 years. eveything was so well put man 🙏🙏
I think he's a really lonely man and has been so since his mom died. I get the feeling that he's an overthinker who struggles to open up to people about himself. His mom may have been the only person to whom he could speak his mind without fearing judgement. Since losing her, he has only surrounded himself with shallow and selfish people who can never even relate to him or his struggles let alone understand his perspectives and help him rectify them. And now that he's away from his kids, I believe as an overthinker, the man is only compounding his flawed opinions and, thus, making his problems worse and alienating himself even more in the process. And the lonelier he gets, the more radical his opinions will very likely become and, so, the sad vicious cycle goes on.
I love this man for the countless hours of joy he's given me and I sincerely hope he finds a new purpose and some much needed peace in his life.
this thumbnail wow

You made some really interesting points, thanks for keeping it real
I think Kanye’s problem is that he sees some things so clearly sometimes and gets aggressive when communicating it to people that don’t see/understand what he’s talking about. I have the same problem and it is difficult to explain ideas that work 100% to people that want to be sceptics.
Yeah I have a temper. I'm from Poland and what makes me furious is foreigners come here to visit so called concentration camps and cheap tourism when our population isnt even 1% jewish... it always has to be about them. Never anyone else's mass suffering.
Yup, some people will never understand because they are either passive or passive aggressive and never get to the point where they have finally had enough.

Most victimized ethnicity of the history of humanity”
Sir….have you Googled black people yet today?
To be fair "black" is not an ethnicity
@@man4437 to be fair “black” is not a nationality, but definitely is an ethnicity.
Now the people the gentlemen in this video is speaking of, could be argued as just being a religion. Thus why it’s odd when a black person is criticized for claiming this faith. Especially, when many that claim the faith have heritage stemming from Russia and Poland and not regions were the biblical stories even took place.
Also it’s really odd how black people can never bring up 400+ YEARS of American chattel slavery or Jim Crow segregation without being told to “get over it”. Even though many of the practices of that era have direct rippling effects on the community today. When the group spoken of in this video, speaks on their year 4 atrocity, it’s rarely any push back.
Basically, treating Ye like Mel Gibson is not going to have the same outcome. Mainly because Ye’s lineage historically has a complicated history with the group pushing back against him.
Excuse me what do you mean “the most victimized ethnicity” sir have you never heard of black people??

Although Kanye has said some questionable things, and there should be some consequences. I would have to say- you have grossly misused philosophical arguments to make your point. Your narrative is very hyperbolic and those philosophical arguments do not belong in your video in regards to the context you’ve used them.
This is the most objectif, good intentioned and factual piece on the Ye matter. People are dealing with life as if it was sports, very religious about their blind approach. No nuance, no thinking.

You have so much insight bro❤️
You do a great job of explaining the situation, everything it entails & how it's not JUST being focused on purely because how bad it is. But rather is being used by people for various personal & political reasons, that in a lot of ways have nothing to do with the situation at all. People need to wake up to how everything isn't so black & white, & is often not only Doesn't get solved but actually gets made worse by the fact that people warp the meaning of things to further manipulate others. The Man really is insane, but it doesn't mean people should be allowed to use it however they want to do for personal gain.
I think many people often don't discuss situations the way they ought to be looked at purely out of fear for being outcast from society. Hower people aren't seeing that since most the majority of society is now hust a shrinking warped brainwashed societal consensus echo chamber, that maybe not being accepted by them doesn't mean social death. And that Maybe if they refuse to waver on the correct way to view things and spread their message like you have, that rather than being cast out, many people may decide to support and raise their voice to be heard by more people. Which Just so happens to be the best way we're ever going to fix a lot of this chaos in the world these days. Not only Is everyone consumed by fear these days, but many of the things that people are fearing (like unbiased objective perspective and analysis) are things they should be embracing!

Okay, the thing about abortion is way off. Yes, you should be able to have a child and be happy about it but we obviously can't even function as humans ourselves because of how horrible our world is & not everyone has the opportunity to provide a good life for their children. Abortion is a healthcare procedure that people do because they need to. You say that people don't celebrate abortions is adding to the erasure of people that are literally broken because as much as they want the child they can not provide for them or were literally fucking forced into this position. It seems like you don't understand the intersectionalities of this healthcare right but I hope you do more research.

such an amazing video. wow!
You are making valid points to the important things he used to say. And that those shouldn’t be overlooked. But I think you in turn overlook that at his core Kanye has always been a self-serving capitalist. He may proclaim these social messages, but only as long as they serve an (artistic, financial) purpose for himself. His words, actions, wealth and how he used his platform speak for themselves. He is all about competition (being the best) not about community. He flaunts wealth and does not change the system by addressing any issues with his products. Like Adidas is able to address social and environmental issues with their products, they do so with more and more product lines. But with the extra expensive Yeezy line non of these topics are being looked at. He cares about profit and winning, not other people. This pushed him so far now, that he is slowly degrading, cause he had to take a few losses over the last years. His capitalist, narcissistic character can’t handle that and he is unhinged. You paint him as a mentally ill and temporarily misguided fighter for social justice. He is not.

The “profound” ideas Kanye is peddling are not his own to claim. Many people have come to these conclusions about the state of humanity or the state of life in America. Why is this profundity and so-called compassion and emotion even discussed in context with his anti-Semitic and anti-Black talking points? He has a responsibility as an influential public figure, mentally healthy or not. Kanye arguably has access to the best professional help that exists, unlike so many others suffering with mental illness. I’d also like to point out that he could be using these ideas as a mask to make it societally excusable to continue railing on about how he has lost his family.
Most of the media and social platforms portray Ye as a "this or that" its good we finally get a more in between look on the situation and recognise it for what it actually is.
