I don't know if we can say "compare" for something inspire by an other, I mean, oculus/metaquest have 5+ years of existence, vision pro is quiet new and have the exact same tech than a quest with more powerful component... But 0 software when meta library is 8 years of maturity with 1000+ app.
The strength of apple is their huge community and fan , but headset exist years and years before the AVP, just that the world now seems to waking up to their existence the AVP is literally a quest with better chip , 7 time more expensive and ATM with not real use.
By the way, what's funny is that I've had headset for years ( pico 4, metaquest pro). In the past, when I took them out, everyone was intrigued and, of course, amazed when they put them on. Now people ask me, 'Is that the vision pro ?' HAHAHHAA."

I would love to see you guys respond a bit more to Mark’s responses! You asked great questions, and I’m not sure if this is just the format or something but when the guest gets really passionate about something and gives their answer it feels very abrupt to just ask another question instead of commenting on or reacting to what they said, even just a little bit. Otherwise I thought it was a great interview!

Such a well conducted interview. You guys were not afraid to ask potentially tough questions, and Zuck was surprisingly transparent, especially around his thoughts on what Apple is doing

Great questions! I feel like this is a much better format for Zuck. Much better than a "normal" news show. Whether this was truly organic or stealth spon-con, this was informative and entertaining. And made Zuck seem human. This was a good move for him. And ofc the pod!

Good job because I said this a couple years ago when Google was dropping Google glass which I used to own and I realize that with AI cameras and an audio feed you could do a lot with those glasses. Mark get it to do gesture tracking so you can pinch on the object without talking to it. When the sensors get small enough you add eye tracking into them. Then finally, you will add screens. The glasses will be daily driver business device, and the headset will be high end, gaming and engineering devices.
Since Im using Quest 3 everyday I think this is the turning point for Meta, lot of potential there, I love it
The turning point for meta ? It's the third iteration of the headset mate, exist way before the apple vision pro so it's more the opposite, they are the original pionneer of this tech, apple just stay back and look before acting , maybe without meta and the Oculus quest, vision pro would never exist

I have to agree. We hear horrible stories about how Steve Jobs, Bill Gates (and, more recently, Elon Musk) humiliated people who work for them, but there have never been stories like that about Mark.

About the "isolating" aspect, realize that even when people use their handphones these days, they can see the world around them, and the world can see them, but that doesn't stop the device from somewhat "isolating" them from the world in terms of participation. We've all seen scenarios where a group of friends get together, and then everyone's just staring at their phones the whole time. They are there next to you, but their focus is far away.
Ultimately, to not be "isolated" you have to be fully present in a conversation, no phones, no headsets, just real eye to eye contact and an organic exchange. An "AR" headset won't do much do change the isolation aspect when you can just plonk a screen in front of someone's face.
After Apple's vision pro, he got his smile back!

I've bought both the Quest 2 and Quest 3, with no regrets. They haven't been perfect products but they have been really fun and definitely helped during covid.

You can wear the Quest 3 with glasses and get the RayBans in prescription.

I REALLY hope this whole glasses/metaverse thing never takes off. We are way over immersed in technology in a very unhealthy way.
What if you already in a metaverse and don't even know it? This just could be the next step of infinite simulations...
I’d never thought of buying a headset until the apple release and bought a Quest so that definitely is happening probably a lot.
The thing is not everyone has a big house and some of the VR games require room so would be really nice if you could use the quest outside without losing hand tracking on a sunny day. My personal use case scenario is I'm hey long-haul truck driver and it be great to use the exercise apps when I get to a rest stop but generally I can't because of sunlight.
I think the Quest 3 solved that issue.. I *think* because I have seen people using the Quest 3 outside with controllers. Quest 2 is no go on sunny days.
You can use quest 3 outside. Just don't face the internal lenses towards the sun.

i returned my vision pro. everything looks clear and high resolution but every immersive experience does not allow you to change position or move around. and if you do move around there is a lot of motion blur as if the refresh rate on the lenses cannot handle the sudden movements. when i want to move around the environment like the moon for example the vision pro instantly goes into passthrough mode like its hiding its limitation. 😊
Man.. this is the first iteration ... Do you know how was the metaquest 1 before the metaquest 3 ??? Day and night, the vision pro will soon have a lot of update and improvement for sure

Would’ve been cool to get his thoughts on the Valve Index. Another huge player in the industry. Best audio, unparalleled controllers, good video quality (at least during its time). Sure it’s more expensive, but nowhere near the price of the Vision Pro. It may be dated now, but with a new Valve Index the space might get shook.

Excellent interviewing, decently hard-hitting and concise questions guys. Also the Zuck 2.0 model is p impressive.
It's really awesome that Morning Brew is giving opportunities like this to young, talented people. This interview was really good and I think the interviewers were able to get some very interesting discussion out of Zuckerberg. However, the Californian/vocal fry + Yankees cap is a lot to take in, and I think back to when everyone on cable news adopted the some kind of "news voice" so they could be clearly understood by all. I don't think everyone should necessarily adopt a midwestern Cronkite (the BBC has recently had some delightful policy changes allowing the wonderful diversity of accents across the isles to be heard in their news broadcasting, IIRC) but some effort should be made to smooth that kind of thing... aiming for dulcet tones, especially in what is essentially a podcast.
The Meta Quest runs on Android while the Apple Vision Pro runs on an "derivational iOS" .. Meta's software-stack icluding the old Oculus applications need to be streamlined. Developers for Meta Quest are utilizing for example Google VR SDK in Android Studio while Developers for Vision OS are using Xcode. Besides the software, Meta is using Qualcom SOCs while Apple is using their own silicon. We will see how this all develops in the years ahead.
