Yes please, we would love to see more Farnham reactions. He is, as you describe, a lovely man, humble, funny, caring not at all "up himself". Although 74 now, if he put on a concert tomorrow you could be sure it would be full, millions of fans here in Australia. Now with the internet, he is being acclaimed even more around the world. Us, Aussies, love watching people discovering him.💞

John’s version of this song in 2003 is amazing. Also his duet with Olivia Newton John singing Please Don’t Ask Me is beautiful. Their chemistry is amazing. Anything live from John is the best.

Hi Shaun 😊 Thank you for your great reaction to our wonderful John ❤ As you said he is a very genuine, humble, generous human who loves his band and his audiences ❤ The Aussie Army as we're known as on You Tube will subscribe more to you as you go down this rabbit hole of music. John started in 1967 and his last performance was in 2022 before his mouth cancer surgery. These 2 have been great mates for decades and love and respect each other. I will send you some suggestions soon. 😉 Cheers Aussie Deb

hoping you might be able to confirm this for me - The name 'Farnsey', I remember a short skit on 'Hey Hey,' (I've looked for the clip but can't find it ) - John and Jimmy join Red at the Red Faces desk, and John says something about a new name, - He's Barnsey, I'll be Farnsey (looking at Red) and you'll be Reddy (ready) - then John tips a bucket of water over Red and Jimmy follows with a bucket of chicken feathers, as far as I know, this was the first time the name 'Farnsey' was used,

@@jayneattherock1083interesting. We've all called them Farnsey and Barnsey for years. I remember that episode of Hey Hey well. And its still available on You Tube. I feel like Darrell Sommers or maybe even Molly first started calling John Farnsey back when he still had short hair. I might have to go troll some old videos now. Hahaha❤

@jayneattherock1083 I will check it out but I believe it started around 1981 when they recorded When Something Is Wrong with my Baby and a lot of people say the Hey Hey Its Saturday live performance is the best of this song. Yes Red had to be ready LOL! Don't think he was too happy but our boys were along with Daryl and the audience 🤣🤣 They did ads for Uber Eats in October 2029 with Ahn Do and the called themselves Barnsey, Farnsey and Ahnsey. They're on You Tube. John looks so good at 70 🥰🥲😍

I think this concert was - ‘Under the Southern Cross’ - a big out door concert with many other bands, early 1988 - I believe John and Band were the last Act on that night (could be wrong) Jimmy had been on earlier and came back to join John on stage for this ‘Cold Chisel’ song, great seeing them together, - and yes, John's love of performing shines though,

You should check out John’s solo version of this song. From either Whispering Jack, when he was in his late 30s, or from The Last Time 2003, when he was in his mid 50s. Both live, and both better versions than this.

Jimmy comments "killer" on his way off stage, acknowledging John's performance as great. John also says, just after the video was stopped "I've gotta tell you, I got a bigger kick out of this than you did".

Yeah When The War Is Over is originally a Cold Chisel hit song/single from 1982 .
Here’s the catch how John Farnham ended up singing this song .
Cold Chisel’s songwriting drummer Steve Prestwich joined Australian supergroup the Little River Band straight after Cold Chisel broke up in 1984 .
Well John Farnham was the lead singer of the Little River Band at this moment of time .
With When The War Is Over songwriter Steve Prestwich playing drums for LRB the song was added to LRB’s Playing To Win Tour set list in 1984/85 .
LRB was having financial troubles and only the songwriters was getting paid through their royalties , so Steve offered the song to be recorded for LRB’s underrated 1986 album No Reins after John Farnham and original founding member of LRB Greaham Goble fell in love with the song .
John was making his comeback album Whispering Jack at this time and the American recording company lost their interest in the band so no promotion was done for the No Reins album .
LRB recording company only released When The War Is Over as a single to capitalise of John success rebirth with You’re The Voice hit number 1 in the charts in the end of 1986 .
LRB’s version sadly failed to chart .
But again in 1988 John solo recording company asked requested John re-recorded When The War Is Over again to be a B side and bonus track of the CD version of John’s hit album Age Of Reason .
John said in an interview that he was very reluctant to record When The War Is Over again for second time but they talked him into it .
John believed that he was happy leave he’s version with LRB’s version .
But he wasn’t happy how the producer treated and put LRB through in the studio . So doing the song within his own comfort zone sold him .
John continued to perform When The War Is Over on most of his Australian tours

While not on camera at the time, John sings "steal my heart" at 5:29. It is SO high and it is superb. I recommend you react to John's version of Help from the Chain Reaction tour. He sings the Beatles version first then follows this with his version. His vocals are phenomenal in this.

If you like this song check out the tribute to the man who wrote the song - Steve Prestwich- When the War is Over- on my channel. You’ll see him singing it then it transitions to Jimmy and then to John. I would also recommend checking out Jimmy Barnes “Stand by Me” Rockpalast Germany (also on my page) - he forgets the words at the start so it’s a little funny and you’ll see him grinning and happy. Or alternatively- Cold Chisel Saturday Night from the Last Stand concert (also my remaster!) - Jimmy’s personality at its finest! He’s usually so serious on stage but this one he’s the opposite! ❤❤ 🇦🇺 🐨

We have/have had some great male singers in Australia but Farnsey and Barnsey as we call them are the absolute cream of the crop 👌🏼
My all time favorite John Farnham performance is his live performance of ‘Help’ (his own version of the Beatles Help) performed with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. It is amazing!
And with Jimmy……well anything with Cold Chisel or solo or with John you cannot go wrong. The grit and soul these two men have is amazing.

I highly recommend you react to John Farnham's version of Led Zeppelin's song Black Dog...It has never been released because he only sings it for his warm up before his concerts...Luckily for us a sound technician left the recording equipment on during his warm up so there is an audio of it on CZcams...As I said I highly recommend you check it out as I believe it is better than the original.

Playing to win, ACDC Cover Its A long Way to the top if you want to rock and roll with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. So many amazing songs to pick you will hever be be disappointed. Gethesmane from Jesus Christ Superstar just amazing. John is so humble and down to earth has a great connection with the fans and his personality shines through when he's onstage singing.

Got to start your Cold Chisel education to appreciate the greatest rock band out of Australia and one of the best ever.
This legendary Australian rock band though having massive supporter base and being beloved for 50 years in Oz are known little outside these shores. Their live shows are legendary, songwriting greatness from all 5 band members and a unique vocal pairing of Jimmy Barnes (singer) and Ian Moss (guitarist) make every song an amazing journey.
The discography is huge but here are a couple of songs to get you started.
Bow River - Live 2003 Ringside tour - a pure pub rock / blues based song that builds and soars and just keeps raising the bar.
    czcams.com/video/TdVRNDnTKTU/video.html&ab_channel=BruceBarber
Wild Thing - Live 1983 The Last Stand tour - even though they were breaking up at the time, still at the top of their game. This cover of The Troggs classic is quite possibly the greatest live rock track ever recorded.
    czcams.com/video/8Z6RjUi3rmE/video.html&ab_channel=GlennThomas
Khe Sanh - Their first single released in 1978 about the returning problems of a Vietnam War Veteran - controversial at the time, shortly after the end of the war, it has become a national anthem in Oz and still a powerful showcase of what they would produce for the decades that followed.
