John is an absolute legend here in Australia he found fame at a young age but he always remained with his feet on the ground . You will never hear a bad word spoken about him , never any controversy , he is a man of the people , he draws like minded talented people to the stage with him and the shared respect between them just oozes through their performances . This concert feels like the pinacle of his career every song is an epic performance and it is fantastic to see people like you from around the world discover and appreciate his talent and to see his character shine through in his performances !

I grew up with this guy. He was so nice I never gave him any cred. My heroes were the hard rockers like Bon Scott and Jimmy Barnes, John Farnham was 'too good of a bloke' to respect. How I regret feeling like that now. He's one of our true icons and I'm proud to call him my own.

You're on the money, John is the nicest most sincere performer there is. He also happens to have a brilliant voice that has earned him the title of "The Voice". He was selected "Australian of the Year" in 1987 and he is genuinely adored. Over 50years of albums and shows, Whispering Jack LP earned 24 platinum records alone. He & his wife Jill will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on 18th of April (or there abouts). John can sing anything, spectacularly & with heart & soul. Thank you for showcasing him in the US.

    Great reaction 👍
John Farnham recording career goes back to 1967 so the rabbit hole is massive discography .
John is one the most successful solo artists within Australia , John Farnham has 38 singles make the Australian top 50 plus 4 top 50 singles when he was the lead singer of the Little River Band from 1982 - 1986
So I give head up John Farnham’s eras
    Johnny Farnham Teen Pop Era , 1967 - 1974
Crossover in genres from novelty pop , pop rock and big band crooner variety television pop .
Key song ; Sadie The Cleaning Lady ( John debut, single ) which was a massive hit even it was a corny novelty song , John jokes about how much he dislikes the song. He was only 18 years old when Sadie was released.
Best song ; One 1969 ( Harry Nilsson cover also was hit for American band 3 Dog Night but John’s version is the more popular version in Australia he definitely made it his own .
1974 - 1980 John married in 1973 but his management and record company wanted the eligible bachelor image to remain once the singles started to decline John’s recording company dumped him .
John started doing some musical theatre and variety television there was nothing recorded that made any impact . John said that wasn’t musically stimulated at this time .
Key song and best song at this time a cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s Bridge Over Troubled Water recorded on a live on variety television show in 1979.
1980 - 1986 The Graham Goble , Little River Band Era
In 1980 John signed a management deal with Glenn Wheatley who was also manager for the Little River Band . Founding LRB member Graham Goble produced and wrote most of the comeback album Uncovered in 1980 that featured John’s personal rearrangement cover of The Beatles classic Help . But in 1982 LRB members was infighting with themselves and lead singer Glenn Shorrock was fired , Graham Goble recruited John Farnham be after working with John , Graham was writing songs in John’s higher key that was too high for Glenn Shorrock to sing .
John Farnham with LRB didn’t gel well with hardcore LRB fans and after 2 other original LRB members left after disliking John’s interaction with the attendance . LRB changed their style from harmony rock to more new wave synthesise rock . John left LRB in 1986 once LRB’s capital records contract was finished with .
Key Song. Please Don’t Ask Me , 1980 written by Graham Goble . John has since recorded this song in concert as duet with friend the late Olivia Newton John .
Best Song . Playing To Win , 1984 ( Little River Band ) even that with LRB some other songs was more successful but Playing To Win is John Farnham’s signature LRB song . Playing To Win has gained popularity with sporting enthusiasts being used on sporting events .
    1986 -1989
Jacks Back , Australian Of Year Era
You’re The Voice and album Whispering Jack that no one was really expecting , it brought John Farnham back beyond anyone’s imagination . You’re The Voice 1986 was number 1 for 6 weeks and album Whispering Jack was number 1 for 124 weeks being the first album within Australia to sell over million copies domestically .
Key song ; You’re The Voice
Second Best song ; Age Of Reason , 1988 another number 1 song of lyrical depth but Age Of Reason is John’s favourite .
In 1988 John was named Australia Of The Year
1990’s into early 2000’s adult contemporary master .
John had another 5 massive selling studio album in the 90’s and into the 2000’s
Keys song . Burn For You , 1990 and beautiful simple acoustic ballad written by John being homesick missing his wife while on tour in Europe .
Best song , When Something Is Wrong With My Baby , 1991 ( with Jimmy Barnes ) this Sam & Dave original recorded with Jimmy Barnes for his soul tribute covers album Soul Deep .
The Last Time Tour into semi retirement 2002 to 2020
John decided to downsize his tours on his own terms 2002 John did The Last Time Tour throughout Australia capital and smaller regional cities after his time between albums became more lengthier and John mostly started touring small venues performing at summer festivals and appearances at charity concerts until his best friend longtime manager Glenn Wheatley passed away in 2022 .
Key song and best song from his era When The War Is Over recorded live on The Last Time Tour 2003 .
John original recorded When The War Is Over in 1986 with the Little River Band ( it’s originally a Cold Chisel song ) but Cold Chisel’s songwriting drummer Steve Prestwich joined LRB straight after Cold Chisel broke up in 1984 . John recorded it again in 1988 because his recording company requested for it to be a b side for Age Of Reason single and bonus track for Age Of Reason album cd version . But this Last Time Tour version is fantastic and probably because this performance John hasn’t performed When The War Is Over in about 14 years since the Age Of Reason Tour in 1988 . Absolutely wow factor so much emotion .

I am so happy that someone in the USA is giving John the credit he deserves. It is such a shame that John didn't get worldwide fame because he is one of the best singers around and one of the nicest, humblest guys you would wish to meet. Unfortunately, John is currently recovering from surgery for throat cancer and it is not known at this point in time if he will be able to sing again. But all his fans in Australia wish him well and hope for a full and speedy recovery. He definitely deserved to be recognized for his talent and should have made it in the USA but for some unknown reason, it didn't happen. John did go to the USA many years ago but couldn't get recognition at that time and he returned to Australia and was about to give up trying and made one last effort and was successful here in Australia and has become an icon. Thank you for showing Johns's talent on your show.

There’s not many performers that can regularly throw the mic stand meters in the air and catch it while still performing, John loves his mic and mic stand tricks. You can add 'Barnesy' to 'Farnsy' and do When Something is Wrong with my Baby - an old Sam & Dave track which has been given the treatment. And then there is the whole Jimmy Barnes rabbithole to fall into including his days in Cold Chisel and then his later solo career including Soul albums. Jimmy has also done a duet with Sam from Sam & Dave more recently, and he has a couple of songs with Joe Bonamassa too whom I am sure you know. Jimmy's daughter Mahalia also sings in Joe's band, she solo's on Riding with the King.

It's energetic, anthemic and he can hit those notes.

My current favourite John Farnham vid is this one: czcams.com/video/EBo1cMumwBM/video.html. It's called When the War is Over and it will blow your socks off. He's older here but the Voice is as mind boggling as ever.

You need to watch John sing Gethsemane from his last performance in Sydney.John can sing country through to opera. He is a man with many talents. He is the most respected singer that I know of.He is adored by all his fans and we all hope and pray that he recovers from his surgery and now his chest infection.Any song that John sings live is a masterpiece and how he reacts with his audience is sincere.

John is a true gentleman and consummate entertainer who interacts with his audience; and he gets as much pleasure in singing to the audience, as the audience does from him singing. Another great Australian artist is Olivia Newton John, John does a great duet with her from The Main Event Concert singing Please Don't Ask Me.

Here is a cut and paste about John, and his friends Olivia Newton John, Jimmy Barnes, Anthony Warlow.
Started in 1967 with SADIE THE CLEANING LADY czcams.com/video/eZeRmpvCjEw/video.html and went on from there. Close friend of Olivia Newton John who he worked with in Australia from time to time. This is a great one from the concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra: IT'S A LONG WAY TO THE TOP IF YOU WANT TO ROCK N ROLL czcams.com/video/73X_z_zW4Sg/video.html
Also same concert: YOU’RE THE VOICE with M.S.O. czcams.com/video/6m2m_9Uijso/video.html
Also same concert: HELP (Beatles) with M.S.O. (version you never heard before):- czcams.com/video/dv54giOSRKs/video.html
Also sang DARE TO DREAM from Sydney 2000 Olympic Opening Ceremony with ONJ - czcams.com/video/NwIfmS-Pml/video.html (note you may need to alter a VPN setting to Australia to see that).
This is good too - the 2.5 hr concert with ONJ and our Phantom from Phantom of the Opera (Anthony Warlow):- THE MAIN EVENT czcams.com/video/qd-USQDe9dg/video.html
Another good one with Jimmy Barnes WHEN SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH MY BABY (concert version with Diesel (Jimmy’s brother in law and formerly from the US) czcams.com/video/AU_bCchDWF4/video.html
Same song, studio version in restaurant with Diesel: czcams.com/video/ihsfx1LuoKc/video.html
A bit on John (Australia’s former King of Pop) - Born in the UK in 1949, came out when 10 to Melbourne Victoria, Australia. Same sort of history as Olivia Newton John, who was born in the UK in 1948 and came out when 5 to Melbourne. Both worked in the industry in Melbourne in the 1960's and eventually Olivia ended up back in the UK and then the US. John became the King of Pop with the 1967 hit ‘Sadie the Cleaning Lady.’ He was in the LITTLE RIVER BAND. John had his chances to work in the US but wanted to live in Australia. Queen wanted him to replace Freddie Mercury, but he declined. www.smh.com.au/entertainment/john-farnham-asked-to-join-queen-report-20030804-gdh7j9.html He is now in his 70's and sadly went through a 12 hour operation for throat cancer losing part of his jaw back about the same time his dear friend Olivia died in August 2022.
Jimmy Barnes (Australia’s former King of Rock) was born April, 28 1956 in Glasgow, Scotland. His original name was 'James Dixon Swan' and his father was a featherweight boxing champion in Glasgow. In 1961/62 his family moved to Australia. After playing in a school band (he replaced Bon Scott (who joined AC/DC) as lead vocalist in the band Fraternity. Then, aged 16 and a half, he joined Cold Chisel in 1973. First they played the pubs of Adelaide, then they played the pubs of Australia and finally they got a record contract in 1976. Now, Cold Chisel are Australian history - one of the best bands Australia ever had. They split up in 1983 because they thought they weren't playing good music anymore and they didn't want to rip their fans off with another album.
Here's another jam with Jimmy Barnes and the late Michael Hutchence INXS 'Good Times' Live czcams.com/video/TimxLOW922o/video.html

I'm sorry, but John Farnham didn't write this song. From Wikipedia: "You're The Voice" was composed by British songwriters Chris Thompson, Andy Qunta and Maggie Ryder in response to an anti-nuclear demonstration in London’s Hyde Park in 1985.

I’ve already suggested A long way to the top from the same concert. This one is him singing another Aussie classic, When the War is Over, and you’ll get a little bit of insight into the man as well if you watch the few minutes of lead up. czcams.com/video/EBo1cMumwBM/video.html

John can sing anything I mean he can sing every genre as you will find out the more you watch of this master. I think you missed it but at around 3:35 he throws his mic stand up then catches it and throws it away. This is his thing whenever he sings this song. John is loved across the ditch in New Zealand just as much as in Aussie and for that reason this legend can sing. He also loves getting his fans involved in the concert then he inserts a bit of comedy just an awesome guy. A couple songs to check out are 'When The War Is Over' czcams.com/video/BekbvlLzMWc/video.html, 'That's Freedom' czcams.com/video/JWjtlMBl3Xo/video.html.

Can I request for you to react to 4 sisters from the Philippines called 4th Impact. You could pick their cover of Bohemian Rhapsody ( yes - 4 little girls from the philippines cover that iconic song) or maybe Imagine ( john Lennon's classic song) or maybe go back a little further to a cover of I'll be there ( Jackson 5 ). Any of these covers will leave you speechless.

Johns'fans go to be with him,not just to see him.The mutual feelings are clear for all to see.You never have a good show from John......it's always bluddi brilliant. To hear his music ALWAYS go for the live performance. The ONLY exception is a sound-only song he & the band did for a sound check one afternoon in Melbourne before a concert that night. The song is "Black Dog" & it's the band just havin' a bit of fun, hangin' out as friends do. Listen to it....I dare you. !
