    This is one sweet w124, nice work! I'm slowly building the slightly less sporty w126 version of your car (check out my last couple videos). Which controller did you use for the transmission? Curious if the solution you used has fueling interrupt between 3-4 shift. I'm on a 7.5mm mechanical pump right now but have a DSL1 that I'd like to swap one day when I can get a EDC pump built. The mechanical pump requires me to remember to lift between 3-4 or get a flared shift which is somewhat annoying.

    • @silverdieselbenz8363
      @silverdieselbenz8363  Před 2 lety

      Thank you, I’m using a PCS transmission controller from Russel Drake, i dont have any shift fueling interruption setup currently, I’m not 100% sure how you’d do I but I’m sure it’s possible with this setup. I swapped a 50K mile V8 722.6 in so it’s not worn out and I have enough line pressure programmed that it doesn’t slip into gear so I don’t get any flaring. You ought to look into those valve body sleeves those can fix the 3-4 flare

My car has the OFGear controller which seems to work fine, though have been very curious about PCS as a option instead of the Arduino based controllers. Happy motoring!

    Nice car! You mention in the video that the engine is electronically controlled. However, I still see an inline plunger-pump on the engine. So the injection is mechanical, right? It's not a commonrail system? A commonrail system would probably solve the smoke issues that these superturbo's have when they're not on boost yet

    • @silverdieselbenz8363
      @silverdieselbenz8363  Před 2 lety +2

      The EDC pump is almost identical to the regular mechanical pump except it has a solenoid on the back of the pump that pulls on the rack to control how much fuel is injected. I think the issue with smoke is not that you can’t get rid of it, but more that no one cares to try.

    i see alot of well thought out technology. however im wondering why you put in and intercooler. you had to put in a bigger radidator because you intercooler is heatint the air you are using to cool the radiator. why would you be feeding that hot air into your turbo then intercooling. your cold air intake is only picking up heated air from your intercooler the heating it through compression and cooling it with outside that you are heating for the cold air intake to the turbo. you start with 70 degree air going into the turbo and it comes our at 200. the intercooler takes off 100. that air the cooling air goes through the intercooler then radiator and is now over 200 going into the turbo. ive not included residual heat from the exhaust manifold which collects exhaust heat behind the turbo. so now we got 250 degree air going into the turbo and heating it t0 350 degree upon compression. in turn the intercooler pulls 100 off and transfers that onto the radiator. the radiator adds 200 and now you got 300 going into your turbo. through an air conditioning condenser in front of the intercooler and now that is an additional 100 degrees. what im saying is finish this beautiful install with a col air duct coming front of the car. like in front of the intercooler. i live in florida and an intecooler only heats up my radiator so i never put one on my 350.

    • @silverdieselbenz8363
      @silverdieselbenz8363  Před 2 lety +1

      I will do a cold air intake eventually, I haven’t been concerned with getting the absolute max power out of it so it hasn’t been a big priority. The other day it was ~95F and my intake air temp was like ~120F, so not bad. I think if I built it again I would go with 2 intercoolers mounted on either side of the bumper, but this setup works pretty well anyways. My coolant temp stays reasonable even after a couple full throttle pulls in like 95F heat and I get nice cold A/C and decent intake air temps so it’s working alright for now.
