    I repair images for our local history museum in my retirement. I spent my career as a video production guy . Topaz Photo AI is, seriously, magical. Photo AI works marvelously well for my purposes. Noise removal is always a little sketchy, so requires use with care. The plug-ins add immeasurable power to Photoshop.
    I have never had issues with lag as you describe. Lag on my system is tied to my anti-virus which commandeers my system at random times.

    Great video, again! Surprised to see that the DNG that was created is 260 MB.

    @sunil3135 Před rokem +5

    Nice video. From 71.2 MB in the original file to 272 MB in the edited DNG file. That is a huge difference.

    • @JohnSlankas
      @JohnSlankas Před rokem

      For certain shots, I've converted the file to lossy compressed DNG file in Lightroom. Takes it down to < 10mb usually. This does lose some of the dynamic range.

    Thanks Mr Morganti for an absolutely superb video and walk through of actual processing of a couple of images. One thing that I dont understand is the bar when its actually processing, just the one bit, which is what is it doing on size it says a size in MB then an arrow right and another size in MB, but if your not up scaling surely this should be the same number, not different as per your Eagle example. Maybe you could touch on that in a future video. Thanks Mr M from the UK

    @carlkaplan1611 Před rokem

    Thanks for the video Anthony. You mentioned that you do not crop in Topaz Photo AI. Does that mean you do not use the File > Plugins Extra option in Lightroom to send it as a RAW file? In that case Photo AI doesn't seem to recognize the crop. I am still trying to figure out the best workflow when cropping and using Lightroom and Photo AI.

    I just want to point out that Topaz Photo Ai also works great as a plug-in in Affinity Photo and Capture One, if anyone was wondering.

    Thank you, Master! In every video, even one where there is almost nothing new, I still find something for myself that I didn’t know.
    Tell me, is it possible in Topaz, when improving the quality of a large number of similar photos, to adjust all the necessary values for the first one, and then simply apply these values to all the others? Without opening each of them in the preview window. If possible, how?

    A few negative remarks here which surprises me as i find that Topaz AI is a game changer editing my back log of much older crappy shots.
    There is one thing that really peeves me is what they do with the date when it returns to LRC.
    I live in a part of the world where the date format is ddmmyyyy. I believe most if the world formats this way.
    I am beginning to find it culturally insulting that images come back from Topaz into LRC in mmddyyy.
    To me this is a real bug bear. Surely the date format should come back the wsy you sent it in.

  • @OldAlley
    @OldAlley Před rokem

    Is there no way to create your own preset yet? I am researching this software for a client who wants to implement PhotoAI in his company. I need to test hundreds of batches which include thousands of pictures overall. I am not interested in Autopilot. Just one preset that will be applied to all images for mild enhancements. We realize that one preset with extreme corrections will not work on that many images. But you'll understand that manually entering settings and simply 'apply to all' is not an option for this many batches. Any suggestions?

    I'm done with Topaz once the Denoise feature was added to Lightroom. It can produce nice results, but for me, it's not worth the price. Once Adobe perfects the denoise and lets you use it with jpg it will be even better. You can bet Adobe is working on a better sharpening tool that will go with Denoise.

    The AI brush has always misbehaved like that for me. I’ve never had it pay any attention to visible borders. Same with the standard brush. Very poor!
    I just got a new computer with a much better graphics card and it’s been rendering Denoise AI and Sharpen AI very quickly, so I’m looking forward to giving Photo AI another chance.

  • @mjolnirproductions1

    Does Topaz Photo AI work well with upscaling art or CG renders? I know that Gigapixel has a specific model for CG upres, but with Photo AI being cheaper at the moment than the other bundle I am tempted to grab it. I mainly worry that my main use case won't suit Photo AI with 3D renders/CG art.

      Download the demo. My demo has no expiration date. The demo takes longer to download as unlike some newer apps everything is onboard and it doesn't need to hit bug daddy in the web for some AI functions. (It loads "modules") And if you have a high res screen like the Apple Retina screens, with the demo you can do a screen grab of the processed image. I've turned one meg images into 30 mag images using screen grab. The trick is to set the app to only one screen, and not a split screen of before and after.

    • @sclogse1
      @sclogse1 Před 11 měsíci

      Download the demo. ( It takes a while) Note you can either set it to show two screens of before and after or just after. After gives you a big image that on my Apple 27" retina, I just screen grab and save that. And no expiration date on the demo.... I have created 30 meg files from 1 meg files doing this. Keep an eye out for what it does to hands....

    I find that Photo AI almost always selects Standard when detecting it needs sharpening....and usually there is not much difference from the original. I tend to select Motion blur and always get a better image sharpness - not sure why it almost always chooses standard, but it is annoying that I have to always try another of the choices and always get a better image sharpness than the default

    • @librarycollection3795
      @librarycollection3795 Před rokem

      As someone who has both Topaz and Neo I can tell you that for upscaling, sharpening, and noise reduction, Topaz is still WAY ahead. Neo is still new to the game, with Topaz being in it for years. You will get a higher quality with Topaz. It is definitely noticeable.

    • @JohnSlankas
      @JohnSlankas Před rokem

      I've found Topaz and Lightroom to be roughly equal on noise reduction. Topaz does much better on sharpening - it took an out of focus shot of my wife and recovered details that was quite unexpected (i.e., turned the image into a keeper.) For bird photography, it does have a tendency to over-sharpen especially with white feathers on top of darker feathers. Edit: appears the sharpening artifacts arise from the minor deblur setting under noise remove being too high.

  • @DanOhPhotography
    @DanOhPhotography Před 11 měsíci

    May be I have not paid attention, but is Topaz abandoning 3 separate applications into one? I use DeNoise AI 100% of time, and use Sharpen AI and Gigapixel AI on rare occasion. It seems like profit is motivating them ... not all people buy 3 apps, but going forward one has no option but to buy the bindle version Photo AI. Are Topaz abandoning 3 separate App approach?

  • @banditalley9592

    I'd love it if they didn't re-render on the slider movement - just have a "Render" button at the top which arms when you make a slider change, then press render to action it. Then you can move a few sliders and press "Render" once and save a whole load of time!

    I don’t understand IMO. Lightroom Denoise is ok but nothing compared to Photo AI on my MacBook Pro M1 on a .arw file. Topaz Denoise does the best job. I am sure Adobe will improve their Lightroom Denoise algorithm but it is a long way behind even DXO Pure Raw which is behind Photo AI and therefore Topaz Denoise. Lightroom Denoise is handy as a first pass to see if you may want to do more with a photo. Just a starting point.
