I mean... Kakashi's story is really common around soldiers. Everyone he loved or respected died. It is not uncommon for people to fear love when everything you love ends up dying. This is what made him a leader at the ANBU, he couldn't love and therefore was a perfect soldier to do the dirty work. He doesn't even know how love feels by now. It was always a character trait.
I wouldn't state that Kakashi is incapable of feeling love. We've seen plenty of evidence throughout both the original Naruto series and Shippuden to the contrary. I just finished watching all of Boruto that's available presently, after bingeing all the Narutos....personally, I think it's right that he hasn't paired up with anyone thus far. He has a lot of wounds from important people in his life dying tragically. If it weren't for Naruto, even his bestie rival would have been gone too so he's not gonna have the depth of interpersonal skills to cultivate a relationship. Add to the fact that all his knowledge of said skills comes from reading the Make Out series (and he actually thought that it had good advice for a dad trying to connect to his daughter???!!!) yeah, like I said not good plans...most emotionally healthy women would shy from a guy like that no matter how cute and capable he was elsewhere.....he's still basically a young adolescent in that area due to the repeated losses he faced at young life. It's possible to see him slowly making a relationship with perhaps a gal he might meet who also loves the Make Out series (I could see them meeting under the tree of the "Sacred Ground" he went to with Guy and Mirai....that would be sweet), but meanwhile I like that he and Guy still hang together and have their own continued adventures of rivalry. I've known my bestie since 1975 when we were 14 and bonded in a day over mutual loves of Star Trek, Robin Hood, and Starsky & Hutch, and we're still as close as then so it touches me dearly that Kakashi and Guy are still pals to the end. Aside from Ten Ten and other single characters, I think Kakashi is the perfect single character. I just finished watching all of Boruto that's available presently, after bingeing all the Narutos....personally, I think it's right that he hasn't paired up with anyone thus far. He has a lot of wounds from important people in his life dying tragically. If it weren't for Naruto, even his bestie rival would have been gone too so he's not gonna have the depth of interpersonal skills to cultivate a relationship. Add to the fact that all his knowledge of said skills comes from reading the Make Out series (and he actually thought that it had good advice for a dad trying to connect to his daughter???!!!) yeah, like I said not good plans...most emotionally healthy women would shy from a guy like that no matter how cute and capable he was elsewhere.....he's still basically a young adolescent in that area due to the repeated losses he faced at young life. It's possible to see him slowly making a relationship with perhaps a gal he might meet who also loves the Make Out series (I could see them meeting under the tree of the "Sacred Ground" he went to with Guy and Mirai....that would be sweet), but meanwhile I like that he and Guy still hang together and have their own continued adventures of rivalry. I've known my bestie since 1975 when we were 14 and bonded in a day over mutual loves of Star Trek, Robin Hood, and Starsky & Hutch, and we're still as close as then so it touches me dearly that Kakashi and Guy are still pals to the end. (Cus Guy has a lot going for him too, but it's also hard to see him in a relationship either due to his intense focus on training all the time...one has to wonder about who Rock Lee married and where she is for that matter since Metal only mentions his dad in the anime, at least.)

Ha! Plot twist, Kakashi isn't married but he's with Guy. They are great together. Even though they are rivals but Guy has always been low key taking care of him. Since Kakashi lost his team, Guy is the one try to approach him to cheer him up. He's the one notice Kakashi is getting darker, tried to stop him from sinking deeper in Anbu that slowly eating up his humanity. When that fails, he is one of em going up to the 3rd hokage to beg him to release Kakashi from Anbu. Guy is also the one that reassure Kakashi when he not sure what he feels abt being the hokage. Aside from Ten Ten and other single characters, I think Kakashi is the perfect single character. Even if he had the time, there is no woman that can fully understand what he went through and give him that need of comfort.
