Even people like me who played all spin offs and mainlines. Haven't played dq X since it never got released here and just to play it you need a vpn a patch and the translated version. But I'm sure there is a legend some where out there who litterly played them all 😢 I'm only missing that one @@Phaseillfigure
Did not include dragon quest 1-3, and some other stuff. He has a switch so he could have played them.

Dragon Quest Monsters the Dark Prince has been such a treat. I've put 65 hours in so far and I'm still not sick of it. Anyone that says it's a bad game hasn't played enough of it.
The graphics doesn’t help (it could have decent performance but the models and textures look worse) but I suppose that it was a low budget game, I should give it a try :)
It doesn’t help its case by looking mostly ugly and having one of the stupidest plots i ever had to experience (the kind you redraft on the double, complete with plotholes), but I had a lot, a lot of fun. Gameplay is solid, some ideas are very neat and I had a blast. Best worst game I ever played, 100% recommend

Same! I love it! I loved Builders 2 and Treasures too and I definitely heard more about them. I know some people were upset with the performance but I love it.
I wish people didn’t sleep on the spin offs so badly. I LOVED Builders 2 and Treasures and dumped way too many hours into them and have been having a blast with Monsters The Dark Prince. Those 3 games are some of my all time favorite games for Switch.
Builders 2 was my introduction to the series, and I thought that I wouldn't like it, but it was actually much more engaging then I thought it would be...although I can't say the same for 1...no offense.

I owe a lot to Dragon Quest XI. I wasn’t a huge RPG fan before playing it. Usually only played Paper Mario and the Pokémon series. Then in 2020 I decided to try DQ11 and I fell in love with it. I had such a great time playing it that it led me to try a lot more games in the genre.
Now I have played 28 more RPGs since then and it’s gotten to be one of my favorite genres overall. All thanks to DQ11 and therefore it has a special place in my heart.
Pokemon is also technically a turn based rpg! Just most of the time not seen as so for some reason cause it’s aimed towards children

DQ11 and DQ8 areas good as any jrpg’s ever. I like them more than any other traditional jrpg’s personally.
I can’t believe they f*ed up so bad with the adventure of dai, it’s one of the best dragon quest story, they just needed to make a regular dragon quest and it would have been 100 times better even if it would have had fillers

hey any support is greatly appreciated. As far as finishing lots of games, I do have a few videos dedicated to how I beat so many games on a yearly basis, but I also have been playing games for like 18 years now. And even when I was in college I would regularly play 70-100 games a year.

I'm playing Builders 2 currently and it's fantastic, it's super addictive. Started 11 but I need to go back to it, I'm glad to know the other spin offs are worth checking out so maybe once I get through 11 I can pick out something else
Smash helped me finally bite DQ with XI S. Thanks to the pandemic, I was able to 100% it from start to finish. I played Builders 2 when it had a Game Trial, and beat the entirety of the first island. I loved what I played. Now I got Treasures for Christmas and am gonna play through it starting tomorrow.
I got treasures and I 100 percent recommend it's very good

One brief correction though Dragon Quest Warriors came out in 1998, the original pokemon games first released in 1996 in japan
The Japanese Dragon Warriors monsters came out 3 days before the english release of pokemon but roughly 2 years after the Japanese release of pokemon

I think what he was referring to with that comment is that the Monster catching concept was introduced in Dragon Quest 5 on the super famicom. I think that is what they ment by coming before pokemon. But like you said both are great games. So does not really matter which came first. I was just chiming in on what i thought he ment. You are correct with the releases of the official games though. Pokemon was before the Dragon Quest Monsters official games.
Appreciate the nice compliment! And yes you are correct while, Pokemon predates the monsters series I meant that Dragon Quest as a series predates pokemon in terms of monster catching mechanics specifically with DQ 5. Both are very good though and I appreciate you watching my video!
Just to add on here, the “monster tamer” game archetype actually goes back further into 1987’s Digital Devil Story: megami tensei. Which was the predecessor or origin of the Shin Megami Tensei franchise and by extension persona which more people are aware of today. As far as I know that franchise was the first to pioneer the genre, though I heard some games also used that sort of mechanic prior to, just not to that extent of SMT. So it’s a bit unclear as to who did it first necessarily. However it’s very interesting to see the evolution and how far back this goes.

Dragon Quest Monsters DLC with the mole is great. a great time saver for your fusions.
It's great but it shouldn't be DLC. Quality of life improvements like that shouldn't be sold separately at launch. "Hey kids, do you want monster fusion to actually be fun and not mind numbingly slow? Well it's an extra €10 and that's not including the other 2 DLCs." The fact that you can get the definitive edition of DQ11 on switch for €60 and it runs and looks better than the full version of DQMDP which is €86 because of the DLC is actually awful.

It's nice and refreshing to actually hear someone give DQ Treasures some love. I thought it was a cool little game tbh.. I also got it on PC so I don't see these "poor graphics" like many people talk about for the Switch. But yeah, I enjoyed it!
Ty DQ Hero's was awesome!!! If i didnt know it was a Dynasty Warrior spin off i would have never knows due to how original they made it! Such a good game for DQ fan!

My favorite Dragon Quest game of all time is Dragon Quest 8, with 11 as the runner up, and Dragon Quest 5 at third place.

Binging Dark prince now. Beat it and the post game already but egg hunting and synthesizing monsters. It’s a great game. I do agree though that DQ11 is fantastic. Nothing but love for the whole franchise

Slight correction on adventure of dai with the cutscenes that someone may have already said so apologies if they did. It doesn't use art from the manga but rather from the most recent 2022ish version of the anime that came out and completed about a year later.
And it just uses stills from the anime.... possibly the laziest way they could have done it. Honestly the manga art would have been more interesting

I on the other hand really want to play DQ 11 BUT FF7 REBIRTH is close so I choose to play it afterwards.
I was actually digging Adventure of Dai to be honest..but the story is pretty much incomplete..but they have the base combat almost down..its not perfect but I was having fun

DQM, the dark prince, has been on my waiting list for 13 fucking years. The last monsters game that came out in the States was 13 fucking years ago. Comparing it to what we got with the dark prince, everything is an improvement.
If you like DQ monster you should think about getting a 3ds and hack it. Monsters joker 3 and remakes of the first 2 Dragon quest monsters got fan translations

Bad list, you say you need to be able to play them, and then you do not include 1-3 which you could have gotten on the switch. Those three games are all not that long, they can be finished in a weekend. (as long as you do not play the original nes versions)

You should play the DQM2 remake... it is soooo much better than DQM Dark Prince.
Dai is a better game if you’ve seen the anime, since I was familiar with the story I was able to skip the sepia scenes and get on with the game faster. It’s still not great, but it’s better.
How is it structured? Is there exploration or just arena battles?
@@brotbrotsen1100 A little of both. The “exploration” parts are very linear though, mostly getting from point A to point B. The main focus of the game seems to be on the Temple of Reconciliation, that’s a Rouge-like dungeon crawler.

Considering the new PlayStation and Xbox are no better than the PS4 and Xbox One I would consider the 3DS just as modern as them. But but that's okay I understand why you didn't want to include the 3DS play Everything included the 3DS technically you would have to include the DS because you can play all the DS Dragon Quest games on there 😂 I mean it has 3D it's the. f u t u r e

I had fun with DQMDP and don't get me wrong, I'm a Dragon Quest Monsters fan first, mainline DQ fan second, but I still think people are really overhyping this game. Even as someone who's waited over a decade for a new DQM release I can't defend the state it launched in. Being better than modern Pokémon isn't really an achievement when those games are as embarrassingly low quality as they are. In DQMDP the graphics and performance are bad which I can't understand since DQ11 runs and looks better on switch, I found the characters and story really forgettable honestly and maybe it's because I haven't played DQ4 but I feel like even a backstory should stand on its own if it's going to make up the whole story of another game. I hate Toilen so goddamn much, that's a whole point in and of itself lol.
(Spoilers) Don't even get me started on the fake dialogue choices, I can't stand when games try to trick you into thinking you're influencing how the dialogue unfolds when nothing you choose affects anything at all. I'm not kidding, I genuinely put down my switch and just paced the floor in disbelief at the stupidity during that stupid fucking scene where the game makes you choose whether or not to save Rose from her kidnappers but even if you correctly guess that she's been replaced, her braindead slime gaslights you into thinking everything's gravy because she cried ruby tears. Then when they "reveal" that you've been "duped" even though you likely guessed that the real Rose was gone (I sure fucking did lol) there's no actual explanation given as to how the monster created the tears, implying that there's nothing extraordinary about the ability to do so meaning that the slime guard who IS LITERALLY A MONSTER HIMSELF shouldn't have acted like he knew what was up because he had no substantial evidence that Rose was safe if ruby tears can be that easily faked. (Sorry for the long ass rant but that scene made me actually want to throw my switch out the window lmao.)
The internal problems of the game aren't all either. The full game being €86 euro just for basic QOL mechanics to be included when the definitive edition of DQ11 is only €60 on switch and runs and looks much better is a fucking joke. Again, I still enjoyed the game a fair deal in spite of its flaws, but idk why people are praising it like it's some overlooked gem. It feels like a betrayal for Square Enix to finally give (western) DQM fans something after over a decade but for it to arrive in such poor condition while they simultaneously attempt to squeeze as much money as possible out of us with DLC that just feels like base game content that they cut out and slapped a separate price tag on.

for the main games the first 7 are great the series started IMHO to suck after that so for me the 8th 9th and 11th games aren't worth and DQ10 will likely NEVER be released outside of Japan even DQX OFFLINE likely won't EVER either.
But DQ7 is still way TOO LONG 200+ hours.
For the modern games IMHO all of them for me are CRAP and aren't worth playing.
