    #1 Tip from me would be - Don't be afraid to synthesise a monster into the same monster again if leveling has gotten super slow for it, if you want to keep a specific Monster for a fusion later but it has stopped leveling as much/as fast Synthesise it back into itself using another monster with the same[or similar] talents.
    This way you can Max out talents easier as well as boost its stat's a little or even evolve talents to their next stage on slthe same monster.

      Definitely helps to max out the default skill trees. If nothing else, if you just want to keep a favorite monster, but want it to just get stats faster, just fuse it with the same species.

    While not something to rely on, here's a tip I just learned! Damage reflection from Spiky Body bypasses defense. So if you're having trouble downing early metal slimes, even though they don't run immediately, you can bring Spiky Body monsters to reflect damage back to the slimes, ignoring their defense, and beating them that way. Just watched a metal slime KO itself against my Cactiball, taking 5 reflect damage lol

    If you're thinking of synthesizing one of your monsters, but one of its talents just has a FEW points left until it's maxed, consider grinding that last little bit to get the rest of the way there before you commit to synthesis. Having maxed talents can occasionally unlock upgraded forms of them for the offspring--most commonly any talents tagged "Aficionado", or the talents that revolve around simply boosting one stat in particular like Attack or Defence. These upgraded forms have higher point caps and stronger abilities, some of them even BEGINNING with learning the skill that was the ultimate capstone of the previous talent.

  • @Animekirk
    @Animekirk Před 6 měsíci +10

    Evolve the shallow breather talent, which can be found on many low rank dragons. Next fuse the now evolved breather talent onto the strongest large monster you can find. Next put enough talent points to max out the breather talent so you have the deep breath, scorch and c-c-cold breath skills. Next go into your monster's A.I. and turn off all skills except for deep breath and your strongest breath attacks. Finally turn their tactics to "support allies".
    Your large monster will now breathe deeply, then do a double damage massive breath attack to all enemies in the same turn. This works even better if your monster has the frizzmeister/crackmeister passive. I was ending boss battles in 1 or 2 turns this way all the way through the mid game.
    Remember to synthesize your large monster with another large monster every so often to raise their stats so they dont die too easily.

    My best advice for people is to use buffs and debuffs! Using both Kabuff and Attack Attacker will make an otherwise one shot turn attack into a wet noodle. Gobstopper (no breath attacks) can hamper certain enemies to turn them completely trivial. Debuffs and buffs matter in this game.

    One thing I do is check their talents (mostly for stat boosts) and focus on that talent tree until I want to merge them with someone else. I also use the name feature to rename fusion monsters so I can find them easily, like naming a monster with attack boost 3 to atk 3 or a zap focus monster to Zap to be fused to my main monster which retains their name no matter what monsters they are.

    A small addition to your "catch everything" tip: monsters in the Depot ALSO get experience from battles (at a slower rate, something half experience? I didn't calculated it accurately).
    So yeah, it is extremly advised to scoot as much and as soon as possible (I personnaly rush the Zone's story goal to unlock the reputation gain and then do a full round of scooting of the zones of said region).
    That way, you'll always have some monsters ready to be fused at a reasonnable level even when you didn't expected you'd needed them.

    1. Get the dlc for the mole hole. Its, sadly, really really good.
    2. Pick up the metal slime for 10 mini medals. Its probably the best early game fusion material.
    3. The heal slime is great for the healer talent tree
    4. Fuse talent trees for advanced versions of afficianado and slasher skills
    5. Fortifier has oomphle(atk up for everyone). Its great for scouting
    6. Kaping(wis up for all) seems to be only available early on the sizz virtuoso tree. Also great for scouting
    7. And then theres sap also for scouting. Its easier to get tho
    8. You can stack stat buffs and stat debuffs more than once. So sap on enemy twice. Though im not sure if you can stack it more than 2 times.

      I have to ask, because I may be doing something wrong, but my experience with the mole hole as been terrible (early game). Monsters I've had 35%+ chance to scout naturally barely reach 10% in the mole hole. I assume it's because they're higher level, but it seems absurdly difficult to tame monsters there compared to the overworld. When the whole point of the mole hole is to re-tame monsters. Should I really just be using the mole hole more at a mid-game level, where I have access to Sap/Oomphle/stronger attackers? Because early game, it seems kind of pointless. Or am I supposed to rely more on the chance that they monster gets up an joins me (after feeding it) for early game?

    • @degreeskelvin3025
      @degreeskelvin3025 Před 6 měsíci

      @@Red-gw3ju yeah its tough. Usually im able to get to 30% with monsters a rank or more below my monsters. So if I have a D rank team i can get lucky with E ranks and definitely get F ranks. But for the Large monsters, it usually requires reloading a save. Using the monster treats is really useful here because it increases the chance of getting the monster if you fail to scout and simply defeat them

    • @ThatOldIcedTea
      @ThatOldIcedTea Před 6 měsíci

      @@Red-gw3juit's not useful early game. Scout chance is lower cause their level is higher than wild and if you already have 1 in your paddock your chance is halved. Mole hole didn't become useful to me until my team was moving from B to A and I'm mostly getting monsters two ranks lower. Progressing the story is more useful than Mole hole. That how it's been for me, hope it helps.

    • @ThatOldIcedTea
      @ThatOldIcedTea Před 6 měsíci

      @@Red-gw3jualso I don't waste my meat. They may get up wether or not you feed them and if you're relying on that you'll use all your meat. Synthesizing skills to aficionado is more important to progression than super high rank.

      the dlc is completely worth it, i also dont understand the hate, yes its paid, but there has never been a dlc in the history of dqm that has helped players more. It saves literal hours of grinding. It is also relatively inexpensive for the amount of money studios are charging dlcs nowadays anyway.

    I disagree with not getting attached to your starter monster. But ONLY if that monster is Mud Mannequin. Mud Mannequin has Dancer talent, and the Ultra Crafty Stunner trait at lvl 20. That means that if he uses Sultry Dance, he has a VERY HIGH chance of stunning every monster on the opponent's team. This simple factor lets you roll fights you shouldn't be able to win. Some other fights can't even be done without such a monster. I was able to beat B rank Arena in the human world and in Hell because of him spamming Sultry Dance each round. Also the Japanese players use an even better version of Mud Mannequin; Damselfly. Damselfly has Ultra Crafty Stunner, eventually gets Ultra Crafty Blinder, and allegedly has 800+ max agility. Almost nothing in the game is faster. Good ol' War Cry skill used to great effect.

    A great one to me was using the reverse synthesis menu and setting it to '"no" on only showing monsters you haven't scouted. I think the menu is invaluable especially when crafting higher end monsters from the ground up. It was mentioned in the video but I think it bears saying again, cap those skills! I was putzing around with a monster that had the shallow breaths skill, I capped it out and fused it to make a new monster and it created the deep breaths skill. Classic DQ games have taught me that breath attacks are super strong and a lot of the mid tier areas will crumple quite fast if you belt out an inferno or c-c-cold breath a time or two and I was only using an E tier monster at the time!

    i think the no.1 thing i can say that helps a lot is remember that items is a free thing, it doesn't take any of your monster's turns to use them. I can give a few example of times you should consider items as they are pretty strong. Say you run into a cannibox and you worried it could whack one of your monsters successfully so you want it gone fast, a rockbomb shard will easily bring it down to near death and one of your monsters will finish it. Bad medicine is a amazing item to use during say a boss fight, ofc, it can fail (always check on their name if they are strong against it) but should it succeed, it'll lower all 4 of their stats somewhat, making them much easier to deal with for a time.

    I just love how they took the best parts of previous dragon quest monsters games, and also took out the most frustrating part. With this game, you can fuse any monster with any other monster. No previous game had this ability. Monsters had to be 1 male and 1 female. Or different charges. Negative, positive or neutral. I can't tell you how frustrating it was to get 2 male and 2 female metalys in order to breed one metal king slime from the original games on the Game boy color. Great info by the way and keep up the good content.

    I actually think both pokemon and dragon quest monsters have their unique complexities at the same level. One isn't more complex than the other. It's just the systems used are different. Another tip is not to ignore the importance of the various items you collect. You can issue commands for all 4 monsters AND use an item (which happens before anything else in that turn) so it is like having a 5th monster.

    Tips if you are hunting metal slimes for xp: if you see one in the wild, turn off auto save, save and engage battle with it. This way if it flees, you can just reload your save and try again.
    If you're hunting liquid metal slimes, or even better, metal king slimes, if you see one in the wild, you can try to save as close to where it spawned as you can.
    This way if you reload your save, it will look like the metal king slime isn't there, but when you back up a bit it will reappear. If you save and reload from a distance, the monsters that appear in the battle will always be the same, if you save close to it and reload, it will generate a new battle, allowing you to essentially reroll the battle into 2, 3 or even 4 metal king slimes so you can have a better shot at getting more xp from the rare encounter.

    healing seems to scale off wisdom? maybe?
    does harmful effect accuracy scale off wisdom like in mainline-dq? and what about harmful-effect-evasion? does that scale off wisdom?

      In the long term is better to synth higher level mons. But in the early I would say synth as soon as it becomes available. It’s a great boost to your power!!

    I guess everything is pretty modulable then except a monster trait, it's resistance & it's species (Slime being vulnerable to "slime squisher" for exemple).
    We can get the stats & talents from synthesis.

    I have 2 questions, 1. Does it exactly matter which skill tree you focus on for fusing 2 Monsters? And 2. When is the best time to syntenzise as soon as possible at level 10 or somewhat later?

    • @SarkenHS
      @SarkenHS Před 6 měsíci +2

      For your very first synthesis, you might want to synthesis as soon as possible just to slowly get out of G rank monsters, but also simply to restart at level one with more talents points. And early game those few talents points can help a lot. Remember than Child monsters inherit 50% of the talents points of their parents, either via the talents you'll inherit or via the unspented points. So the longer you wait before fusing, the more talents points your child will get.
      Later on, there's surely better anwsers, so here's my personnal take:
      I usually wait until I have newer monsters ready to take place of my mains before synthesising.
      For instance, I had an already better physical DPS in reserve just to level it up and catch up on levels, until it caugh up enough to take my main physical DPS dealer to use it as a fusion material for yet another better one.
      It's really more of a feeling to get, because while leveling is important, like the guide said, it's more important to have a more coherent / adequate team. So if you feel like leveling is starting to slow down, it might be a good opportunity to replace some of your monsters.
      It might take some grinding, but as exp is exponentiatory, it never takes that long for a newer monster to catch up, especially if it's a rank higher and / or star variant (that small pink star that can pop in their profile icon, because they'll catch up to your older monsters as a lower level either with their stats or simply better skills).
      To help during griding newer monsters, you'll sometime recieve bonus ball as consummable. I personnaly use then after having made switch to my team to help catch up with the 50/100% bonus exp. There's also consummable to simply give exp, metal slimes cards, or even the game's variant of super candy, seed of growth.
      During adventuring and grinding, my Reserve teams is only composed of future Mains or monsters that I'll want to sacrifice for fusing. It's also nice to remember that even DEPOT monsters get exp (albeit at a slower rate). So it's really not that hard to end up having lot of monsters to fuse with that are a reasonnable level.
      For your first question, it's nice to know that any unspented point is also given at half to the child monster. So in the worst case scenario, if you're unsure, simply don't spend those points.
      When it does matter a lot is when you want to create a better talent. You have two ways to inherit an upgraded version: either one of your monster has maxed out said talent, or the total of spent points in both monsters is enough to have it maxed out normally. For instance, if both the monster material has ATK Booster 1, if their total is 85 or more, the child will have the new talent ATK Booster 2. It'll start out as weaker as an already upgraded ATK Booster 1, but it's better to think in the long term and give up the 1 version for the 2 version.
      However, for "skills talents", the upgraded version is usually way better right off the bat.
      All in all, the story isn't that hard either to progress through. I've personnaly noticed one particular boss I'd consired a powerwall / test of strength if you rush too quickly, but if you don't ignore every monsters in your way / flee any battles and simply auto battle through them for a bit of exp there and there, you should be fine.

      @@SarkenHS I see thank you for answering my questions i do however have one more question and its fine if you don't know it or anyone else does but: its a about the booster skills, do you need the booster 1 skill with booster 2 skill to get booster 3 skill or can you just go with just booster 2 while synthezise?

    #1 synthesis tip : only synthesis with reverse search AND make sure to put NO on possible combinations only and monsterpedia entries only ! Rank A/S/X monsters are only unique and by "normal" means I'd have never found that a demon at arms + jugular joker makes a hell gladiator since I fused my jugular joker to make a demons at arms, but by that way, the game told me I had to remake one to unlock a rank A since when looking at all I can make I see the Hell Gladiator there, and I now lack only a Jugular Joker !

The stars are just stat scaling, and there are different types of builds, higher wisdom mons do better with magic compared to mons with just better attack. It matters so much.
