- Today we are going over most of the hunting rifles in the Way of the Hunter and all the relevant info you need to pick out which one is best for you.
Disclaimer - There is a Bolt Action 22LR I did not go over, I Pretty much just has more range than the Stinger 22LR that's about it - Hry
Thanks for this, it's super useful. Coming from a country where guns & public hunting are illegal I wasn't familiar with the rifles at all in the same way that an American would be.
I love how informative the game is so that someone who unfortunately comes from a country where hunting is illegal can learn.

I personally find the best rifle in the game to be the Remington 1903 (A.K.A. Springfield Military Sniper Rifle) because I was having so much trouble with shooting deer and always small amount of blood trails that quickly disappear after very few drops. After I started using the 1903 I started killing everything I shot, dropping them where they stood! Just yesterday I killed a Mouflon from 319 on the Transylvania map with a 26mph wind, and he dropped dead right where he stood! I have dropped every large animal with it except for any Bears, and that mostly due to lack of being able to get lined up in a good spot yet.
Have you even gotten Moose and Elk?

Check out the encyclopedia, it turns out the weapon tiers arent related to the animal tiers at all. The tiers are more of guideline of how you can use the weapon, if you will need a precision shot or if its a long range rifle, or all-around, and it explains much better what the rifles are actually supposed to be. The tiers are only some-what related as longer ranges also requires more power, but you can take a moose with a .243 and badgers with the 30-30 (maybe with a .243 as well if its reeally long range), its all about hit-energy and range. Im sure you know that but the game also aknowledge this
Each Round has energy and in general a higher caliber round is gonna have more energy taking down bigger things from a ways away is gonna require more energy in return needing a higher tier of weapon :) but shot placement is key and you can take down pretty much anything with anything but there are energy limitations so unless you’re 2 feet away from a Deer don’t shoot them with a 22LR 😂
@@TacticalSooner Yeah, but I feel the .22 is underpowered in real life I killed a lot of feral hogs with it :)

I use the 30 06 for deer it works better than than the 308 for me but that’s because I know how to stalk them and get within 50 yards

yes they will have more guns coming as well as bows, we don't know when yet but hopefully not too long

For best hunter score:
Tier 1 weapon: ducks, goose, pheasants and other birds....
Tier 2 weapon: rabbits so far, can also be used for birds as it does not lower hunter score.
Tier 3 weapon: fox, jackal, badger, coyote.
Tier 4 weapon: not sure as well, probably like tier 3.
Tier 5 weapon: mule deer, white tail deer, sheep, goat, wild boar, wolf, bear, moose....basically any animal of tier 5 and 6....
Tier 6 weapons: ONLY used for long range sniping around 1000 meters, anything under 900 is not recomended as you always get low hunter score and small amount of money cuz the damage is way too much.
So the best two guns to use are either the 308 and 7mm or the 300 and 7mm. Can the 308 take down moose and bear?
308 is better than 7mm ( you can take a moose with ether one but you need a really good shot on it )
.308 will take moose with a double lung or heart shot. Just have to get it in around the shoulder.

The 7mm-08 can kill Elk at very close range. The 308 can at easy stalking distances
yes it all depends on the bullet energy and shot placement, I killed a Mule Deer with the 30-30 from 340 yards with a direct heart shot :)
@@TacticalSooner I prefer getting the 5 star hunt rating. I got a 5 star trophy mule deer at 130 with the 30-30.
Also, i thimk they changed it so that the 338 only had to be 200 yards away from moose for that, which makes it more practical.
(Not to mention, more consistent with the game's "stretch the stalk not the shot" message)

I shot a moose with the 7mm-08 from 100m, it hit the lung but it didn't die. Shot the same moose today with the .300 win mag. I shot deer with the 7mm-08 from 100-300m no problem. Used the .300 win mag to shot an elk from 111m, got lung, heart, lung and it dropped dead on the spot. I don't know if I should get the .308 or .338 lapua mag next.
if you wanna take long shots like 600-800 yards away get the 338 the bullet energy is insane so don't shoot anything below that really, the 308 has a lot energy but the energy will drop when going out to those longer ranges
@@TacticalSooner Yeah. I'm unsure because the .338 cost less for more power but I'll almost never use it because I have yet to spot an animal from that long a range. With the .308 I can get a loadout that can take most game. Like the .308 for deer, elk, moose and bear and the 30-30 for bagder and fox or maybe the .223. I think I will go for .308, it won't take long to get the money for the .338 anyways.

@@Seany1 I did go with the .308. Got it about about 30 min after the comment 4 days ago. I'd say people should go for the .308 before any other rifle then the .300.
Seen vids guy using .308 at 700 yards dropping stuff easy + my DAD my brother and Brother inlaw use .308 here in NZ dropping big RED DEER great gun

Pretty much it’s a hunting sim, the maps are giant and you are free to roam where you want :)
The gun sounds are pretty bad, most of the guns sound like a 9mm irl
