That round has so much kinetic force I don't think there is any personal armor that could stop a fatality, even if it stops the round it transfers so much force it would shatter so much inside you.
The VULKAN 5 and 6B6 3MU helmets will most likely stop it. You would still be dead but it would be stopped. Any heavy body armor should stop it. Like the Fort goplit/gladiator or a redut. And you would live.

So what we've learned today is that if Scott ever has a four bore mishap, he'll have to use both thumbs.
More like 4.

Who purchases more 4 bore ammo in the US than Scott?
On Shrove Tuesday, everyone was summoned to church to be shriven before the start of Lent the following day, Ash Wednesday.
Geez
Honestly still amazes me how Scott can handle that recoil
Would be interesting to know if that recoil hits harder than let's say getting punched by some heavy weight boxer ...
@@jancizmarik4345 Considering he outright states the 4 bore is rated at 200 lbs of felt recoil, I'm sure a punch by an elite heavyweight boxer, who on average can easily punch with over 700 lbs of force (possibly over 1,000 even), would still knock you back way more.

The 4" bore is when you wanna unexist the four ruffians invading your house, the fridge, the neighbours drywalls, the dog, and the T34 tank crossing the street 😂
hah!! a 4" bore would be CRAZY!!!! more like a cannon at that point :3
if you gave rodolphe ernst-metzmaier one of those he would’ve put it in a renault ft along with the mg and the tank would be unmatched
3:30 put playback speed at .25 during the slow motion and you can see the projectile as it sails out the barrel and through the air. Pretty sweet and rare to capture on film.
Thank you that is pretty amazing!
I really don't want to enter by mistake in your property 😲💀

I'm an ex Bounty Hunter, and a huge fan of this channel. Thank you Scott for giving us so much fun content and I am so glad you are alive brother. I hope you had a good Christmas.
The helmet ringing when Scott drops it at the end is perfect!! Scott, is it me or are you handling that recoil better each time!!??
You don't just climb into a Top Fuel dragster and mash the go-pedal... takes time to build up a tolerance to the uh... ballistics.
I'd enjoy seeing that 4 bore against a large, running diesel engine. That would be interesting!!
Beautiful ?!
I would like to see it against 1” aluminum & AR500 plates.
Yessss. Please Scott!
11:53 put playback speed at x .25 again and you can watch the projectile almost the entire way from muzzle to helmet. I lose it in the aftermath but it seems to mushroom and land on the table. Some of the best slow motion shots I’ve ever seen. Prolly helps how freaking huge that projectile is.
Edit: I was right! If you watch the slow mo at x.25 playback speed closely, you can the projectile coming out the front of the helmet after it hits the lip, causing it to mushroom and leave the dent at the point of impact. Can even see it land on the table.
I love this channel, him.doing the things he loves with guns and level up the testings!
Scott : this gun is heavy, hurts to shoot, and ammo is extremely expensive
Also Scott : *shoots 4 bore at every opportunity*
And that's why we love him
These impacts on the helmet are probably the best slo mo footage he's ever captured.
Hey Scott I love watching your collaborations with other CZcams gun enthusiast, and find your 4 bore super interesting and would suggest perhaps making a video of how far and effective is the 4 bore in a super long distance and or how much energy it lose where it would no longer be deadly. ( wink wink grand thumb). Ik the round is probably super expensive but man would I love to see that’s. Thanks 😊
Can we appreciate that? He somehow managed to shoot off both bolts that held the visor on the first shot of different guns that is insane on accident too
That last ringing sound when you dropped the helmet at the end confirms it’s definitely titanium.
Could you make custom 4 bore rounds? Like a brass solid or a hardcast or a copper pointed bullet? Seems like it would be really interesting and effective. If the gun would allow that
I'd love to see a brass slug with a lead core for the extra weight vs. some old ceramic helicopter armor, or some home-made iron and steel frying pan armor.
With how big 4 Bore is you could make it a Raufoss round
I’m a week late but wow what a killer video as usual… so glad you’re still around brother!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I love this stupidly massive gun so much. It's fascinating to me because the loading mechanism reminds me of a tank cannon.
Its like a Breech lock Sharp's hopped up on cattle roids 😆
Fun fact. The Four Bore rifle was made to be a "stopping rifle" for bison and grizzly bear hunting trips. The function of it was basically that if an angry buffalo or an angry grizzly bear was charging at you the idea was to whip out the four bour and stop the animal on its tracks.
The reason why its such a comically large caliber is because its designed to stop a giant meat train that is running at you with murderous intent
Jesus! This 4 bore is a real portable cannon, literally!!! The handguns on the titanium helmet were like 7,5 Joule airguns hitting a pan and they're normal pistols (sooo incredible to see!) but this 4 bore is a devil! Thank you to let live emotions us with your breathtaking videos, you're amazing! Cheers from Italy! 😀
Now imagine if Scott had the even bigger 2 bore!! But that one would cost him a lot and he can use the puntgun with a solid ball round instead and get an even more devastating result.

I believe there is an even bigger 2-bore rifle out there. It is as comically huge as you would imagine. Ian from Forgotten Weapons did a video on it some years ago. But he could barely even hoist thing to his shoulder and IIRC never tried shooting it. Mad props for abusing your shoulder with this monster.
Do you mean the Punt gun?
@@jagc1969 that's not even a rifle, nor really a "firearm" tbh. That's a rifle shaped cannon , which is loaded like a cannon and everything. And also no a punt gun is like a 0 gauge shotgun lol (they also made them of varying sizes) some couldn't even be lifted by this hulking guy.
@@jagc1969 but idk what hes referring to, I'm just saying the punt gun couldn't be classified as a rifle and is loaded from the barrel like a cannon. Although there are some very large shotguns similar to this (which they really didn't know wether to call them shotguns or rifles) like a 2-8 gauge shotgun. No idea how hard they are to get but I recently heard of a 20mm rifle, it makes a 50 bmg look like a 308. The rifle is absurdly big, something to look into for your arsenal!
I mean, if he's going the destructive device route, he may as well go for a Carl Gustav recoilless rifle.

Looking at 12:00 you can see the round ricochet off the front of the helmet, deflecting downward and shattering the "Glass". You can then see the smooshed round flop onto the table, then later the ground.
Scott, you really need to get with the SloMo Guys again to show the majesty of this behemoth of a rifle.
Yeah, 100% agree. I was surprised to hear him joke about needing a higher fps camera so much during the crossover and still stick with only the one he has now. I love every Video. the only thing that you have not yet done ist getting a Furby mad out of Ballistic gel. Have a good Holiday and greetings from Germany
I love how each time he introduces the 4 Bore he says *"This BEHEMOTH of a Gun"*
Just in case people had some inflated expectations about this helmet, let me clarify the background a bit. First of all, the Altyn was designed for internal troops and special forces. That is, for people who storm houses and fight in closed spaces. It was assumed that law enforcers would fight against criminals, terrorists, armed mostly with pistols, hunting rifles and only in rare cases with automatic assault rifles. And since such operations are fast, the Russians decided to protect the head of the wearer to the maximum with available materials at the time without really putting attention to it weight. Therefore, it is configured to protect the wearer's head from all sides, including the face.
Since the helmet appeared in the 90s, and it was first seen in 1993 during the Constitutional crisis of Russia, it kind of predetermined the material from which the "Altyn" family would be made - titanium, a rare and very hard metal, which is abundant in Russia.
However, life takes its course, and, unfortunately, the helmet, as well as their owners, will often be used in combat actions against which it was not really created (admittedly, few weapons and equipment created by the Soviets and Russians are used for their intended purpose). In the 2000s, Kevlar helmets gradually began to supplant titanium helmets because of their lighter weight and supposedly better protection. Some special forces operators and ex internal troops remain of the opinion that the titanium helmet family should have been further developed.
Edit: I was corrected, it's not "Altyn," it's К6-3, or 6Б6-3 made out titan. "Altyn" is metal version of the helmet.
And to think. No military or police equipment is designed to protect from hand cannon like that.
Interesting.
It looked to me like a bomb suit helmet - heavy, minimum mobility, restricted peripheral vision, but very durable (under design conditions). It seems to me that, yes, there is room for additional development.
@@lairdcummings9092 Yes, the helmet even at that time had a lot of disadvantages, such a heavy weight is literally a health threat to your neck if you wear it too long (russians concluded that it should not be worn longer than 8 hours). At times the lowered visor would prevent you from using the butt of the weapon. Most Special Forces soldiers would find it too big, which is why footage from the Chechen campaigns shows them wearing hats under the helmet, and also sometimes removing the visors.
However, you have to give it credit for saving quite a few lives. And thanks to modern video games, the helmet has become a meme. You know, it's a Vibe, everything about it screams that it's made in Russia.
Edit: I was corrected ones more, it doesn't ring like a bell when you fire your gun since it has a kevlar layer inside.
@@gunther2555 iteration is the answer. Lots of cycles of testing with real troops.
The man who led the development of the US Army kevlar helmet worked for my father at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, in the Human Engineering Lab - they iterated the living hell out of that helmet, got field soldiers' input and opinions, and tested all manner of hearing protection, communications connectivity, and communications intelligibly. I mean, they went *NUTS* on the testing.
The Army didn't approve everything they wanted, nor did the Army buy everything that was approved, but it wasn't from a lack of thought and trial.
@@lairdcummings9092All right. It is included in the minesweeper kit. But the whole costume is there, it looks about the same in all countries. A thick spacesuit and a massive helmet.
Someting tells me that simply stopping the 4 bore is not going to save you.
I suspect the culprit is waaaaay too much force.
I imagine the neck wouldn’t be very structurally sound any longer .
@@Error_404-F.cks_Not_Foundit's not your neck that's the issue it's your brain bouncing around inside your skull until it turns to jello
The force of the bullet hitting the helmet alone would likely give you an instant and lethal concussion.
I've said it before, the 4-bore doesn't so much as "defeat" the armor, but "recruits" it and takes the armor along for the ride.
Nothing made sense until I saw the bullet next to a RedBull. I am now enlightened. Thank you.
That last slow mo angle was spectacular
This is just another step on the journey of a man who seeks to build up a natural resistance to all recoil.
For comparison, the KS-23 was made using spare 23mm anti-aircraft barrels and is roughly a 6.3 gauge or bore.
That means this rifle’s caliber is larger than an anti-aircraft caliber round.
Makes sense, since the 4-Bore is pretty much twice the diameter of a .50 cal, leaving it somewhere around 25mm, or about the size of the main gun on a Bradley 😂
Edit: that gives me an idea... along the same vein where you can *technically* fire a .50 cal through a 12 gauge, right? Well....
@@RobbieRR26,4 мм. Старые пули к дымному пороху могли весить 100- 120 грамм. Именно грамм.
Considering that .30 rifle caliber machine guns where used in anti aircraft role through WWII, the "anti aircraft caliber" won't say much by itself.
Why
For the KS-23 carbine, barrels were selected that were rejected by military acceptance and were not suitable for the Army. I was a KS-23 operator in the special forces of the Soviet police in 90-95. And I was also a PKM machine gunner.
Thanks a bunch scott

Your collection reminds me of an old Looney Tunes gag where two duellists keep whipping out bigger and bigger guns until one has a gun so large the view switches to space and it's a fifth the size of the planet. I feel like when the day arrives that your most powerful gun fails to penetrate a test object that you'll come back a few weeks later with an episode testing whether it can stand up to your new 18.1" naval gun that you somehow recovered from the wreck of the Musashi, brought back home and then restored to working order. After that your new functional replica Schwerer Gustav 31.5" railway gun. I might be only slightly surprised to one day see a video shot aboard your new Death Star. Good stuff!

My greatest concern is how to recover from all these economic and global troubles and stay afloat especially with the political power tussle going on in US. The government has really called things more difficult for its citizens, and we can't sit back and bear all the consequences of the bad governance
The wisest thought that is in everyone's minds today is to invest in different income flows that do not depend on the government, especially with the current economic crisis around the world. This is still a good time to invest in gold, silver and digital currencies (BTC, ETH...stock,silver and gold)

I'm from Florida, how can I get in touch with Mrs Eleanor nelson?
That redbull part was very sadistic 😂 this freaking gun even destroys the very definition of destruction 😆
The water in the cans took all the energy and distributed it. There wasn’t enough power to push the titanium aside, but the projectile had likely expanded from hitting the cans. It had a larger surface area and couldn’t penetrate the titanium.
I’m curious to see what the energy transfer looks like for your elephant rifles compared to standard rounds. Perhaps a video showing every caliber you have a gun for, one after another?
